steveorino 7 #6 January 12, 2012 QuoteSo awesome Steve.... you may have answered this elsewhere, but how'd you get started carving? I started carving pumpkins a few years back and won a national contest. I had carved some tree stumps before; one in 92 and another in 08. But last year I saw a gnome carved from a piece of driftwood and started carving when the weather was bad. I've gotten a little better every month or so. steveOrino

steveorino 7 #8 January 12, 2012 Thank you! I have small carving knifes, but I usually use a sheetrock knife. The blade is always sharp and is flexible. I also use small dremels, sandpaper & steel wool. steveOrino

steveorino 7 #10 January 12, 2012 No I just started with chisels and wood I found near my house. That is why my early worked sucked. I started using gouges then dremels now knives. Actually I use a combo of all. Google and watch videos by Lynn Doughty. There are helpful. steveOrino
