Kansas City - June 23/24

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Am coming over to the USA for a couple of weeks work and have been told I have the weekend in the middle off. Have skydived on the East and West coasts but have little idea what might be going on in the middle.
Any suggestions on the best way to spend a weekend in that part of America?

Thanks
I'm drunk, you're drunk, lets go back to mine....

SKYDIVE KANSAS CITY!!! I promise we'll take good care of you! :)
There's lots to do, the Sprint Center, Power & Light District, The Plaza, casinos, sporting events... part of it would depend on what kinds of things you like to do!

I'll look at some event calendars and see what's happening!

Cool - thanks

If KC has a early summer It's going to be anything butB|.

Hang out with the locals or you could find yourself in the wrong neighbor hood. B|B|

Don't forget to eat the Arthur Byants barbecue at the original place.

I've heard people say the original Arthur Bryants is good, but I've been to the Legends one and there are way too many good barbecue places in town to risk trying one that has their name attached to such a terrible one (the one at the Legends). If their original one is good, they should do themselves a favor and close the one at the Legends. I'm not the only one they've chased off. That place is real bad.

If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

The original Aurthur Bryant's is good... total hole in the wall place. Not in a good part of town, but go at the right time of day and it's fine.

The restaurant at The Legends is pretty bad. Bad location, (hard to get to unless you know where you're going) and the food doesn't taste like it does at the original restuarant.

While I like Aurthur Bryant's... I LOVE Jack Stack BBQ!

Hi NB

We used to go to Arthur Byrants when arthur was still alive.

When Jimmy Carter was president and stopped in KC. He made a quick stop at Arthur's.B|

There's a editorial cartoon on the wall of the original restaurant of Arthur standing outside the Pearly Gates and the lord asks " Did you bring the sauce".

I would recommend if your going to go to Arthur's do it during daylight and park in front on next to the store. I don't think it would be worth parking in the backB|

The last time we were in KC was about 3-4 yr's ago for a old jump buddies funeral in July:( Had lunch e every day at Arthur's.

IMO eating barbecue in KC at any place but Arthur's is like having Fish and Chips in England at
McDonald's.

KC has a lot of history, President Harry S Truman (nuked japan) owned a small mens clothing store IN KC MO before he became president. etc etc.

The folks in Kansas & Missouri are real nice people (except" The Plaza"" if you want to you can walk about a mile west of "The Plaza" and have one foot in KC MO and the other foot in KC KS.

President Truman's home is located about 15 miles east of the city in Independence Mo. The town is headquarters of the LDS or the RLDS (i forget which:$) church. If your there when the world ends the big guy is supposed to stop by and pick up his flock.:)

Google is your friend:)
