Requests for Donations, Fundraisers & Voting

Recommended Posts

If you're thinking about creating a thread requesting money, promoting a fundraiser or asking for votes for something - please read this post for some guidelines on what is accepted, what is not and how to go about doing it right.

Donations

As much as we'd love to help everyone with everything, you can imagine how many posts would flood the Bonfire if we were to allow requests for best friend's sister's cat needing money for an operation. If you're looking for donation support, we ask that you follow these guidelines.

1. Make sure that the person in need is a skydiver or direct family of a skydiver.

2. Make sure that the request is worth asking for support. Medical related issues for example is an acceptable reason. Asking for donations because someone needs a new car, obviously is not.

3. Posts by active forum members are more likely to remain than posts by those who pop in or sign up solely to post a thread looking for donations.

Fundraisers

We're pretty lenient when it comes to fundraisers, but there are some guidelines you should follow and things to know before posting.

1. Fundraisers that are skydiving related are far more likely to remain than threads promoting fundraisers unrelated to skydiving.

2. Fundraising threads would be best kept relating to the raising of funds for skydivers or direct family of skydivers, with that said there are some exceptions we may be willing to let through.

Voting

There's a lot of this usually, and in most times it's all good and well, but there are times when people abuse this leniency.

1. Make sure that you are an active forum member when asking for a vote. If you haven't visited the site in 5 years and have 3 posts, asking for votes in some competition is not the right thing to do. This is about friends helping friends.

The Bonfire is not an advertising platform, but we do allow some of the above things to slide, so we just ask that these privileges are not abused.

If you have read and understand the above guidelines but are still unsure of whether a post you want to make is within these guidelines, just send me a private message with the information regarding to your post and I will either approve or deny your request.
