I got 78. I highly doubt I'll make it that far given my family history, but that's okay. I don't want to get too old. Just old enough to enjoy grandkids for a short time.

Of course it did, in Germany.

We have never used the a-umlaut because few people know about them over here, and our typewriters never had them.

I have a very good friend of Italian descent. His family's original name was DeStefano; so his grandfather, after he arrived in America, decided to anglocize it. It is now Hardy.

Seems strange to me, but who am I to say.

Foreign names with umlauts, accents or other diacritic signs seem hard to handle wherever you are. Be it Bäumchen in America or Galecki in Germany - both are usually misspelled and/or mis-pronounced, just two give two examples.
