Mr_Polite 0 #3 September 23, 2012 I played with a friends for a few hours this afternoon. Honestly not impressed anymore than the last iphone. Slight size changes, it seems to run programs about the same. If you're the kind of person that has to have every new phone I think you're stupid. but have at it . LOL I have an iPhone 3, not a 3S just a 3, the only reason I have not gotten rid of it is that it does all i need it to, makes phone calls sends texts, logs my jumps, and recieves boobie pics, WTF more would I need (mind you the camera does not work)You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! quade 3 #6 September 23, 2012 QuoteWTF more would I need Some people like the voice control, dictation and search functions, as well as just the fun of Siri. Some people like using the device as a WiFi hotspot and the LTE connection is FAST (seriously f'in' fast) Some people like the idea of having a pretty good camera with them at all times. Some people like the FaceTime and being able to see loved ones when at a distance. Some people like the GPS functions. Some people like the way faster graphics. Some people like the AirPlay mirroring (being able to put on your Apple TV ANYTHING on the iPhone without wires). Are there faults with this current 6.0 version of the software; sure. Bugs happen to the best of software. I dare you to find any product of this magnitude that doesn't ship with a few bugs. Not an excuse; simply reality. WTF more YOU need depends a lot upon YOU. Just use your phone as a phone? Hey, why even bother with anything more than the most basic? Want something more? That's cool too. iPhone 5 is pretty f'in' cool though. Oh . . . the cable and connector thing . . . not happy about that. If you're on the bubble of trading up then wait a couple of weeks until you can buy a couple of extra USB to Lightning cables. It will just be easier on your life to not have to carry your one and only charging cable with you from room to room to car to work to laptop to desktop and back every day. Couple of weeks; that's all. Probably have a lot more choice in cases by then too.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

PhreeZone 15 #10 September 23, 2012 Everything on that list except Airplay has been on Android for a long time. I am an iPhone 4 user and its going in the recycle pile as soon as I can upgrade to something like the Razor MAXX. doing 4- 5 hours a day on the phone has me reaching for the charger prior to 10 AM every day. I wasn't saying anything was specific to the iPhone and ONLY the iPhone (OK, except maybe the AirPlay feature). What's-his-name was asking what more could he want than his phone with capabilities from 5 years ago. Well, there ARE a lot of reasons for some people to upgrade. Apparently not him, but then again, who knows what needs he has except, well, him? There are legitimate reasons for some people to have more than a phone designed 5 years ago. If those reasons add up to the iPhone 5 for some folks . . . that's cool. It's not the only solution, but it may in fact be the right one for a number of people.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

champu 1 #24 September 23, 2012 QuoteEverything on that list except Airplay has been on Android for a long time. "I run Gentoo!!!!!!!!!!11111111337" I'm going to buy an iPhone 5 because I've been largely happy with my 3Gs, I want a faster phone with more storage and a better camera, I've got a bunch of software for it that I don't feel like throwing away, I use iTunes for my music library, and I make enough money such that I don't care if there are other phones that are basically the same thing and a little cheaper that I could eventually make serve my purpose. That said, there are a couple lessons I've learned from owning my 3Gs that I'll keep in mind... 1) Apple, or whomever they subcontract out to, doesn't know how to build cables. It's one of the few instances I can think of where the first party accessories are rubbish and the third party products last forever. I'm very delicate with my electronics but the Apple cables dry out and are too prone to cracking at the strain reliefs. It's a bit silly given the amount of energy they put into product engineering with all their aluminum and glass. 2) Don't upgrade more than one major iOS revision beyond the version that came on your phone. Clock cycles are not yet the trivial commodity on cell phones that they are on personal computers these days. Cell phones right now are more like computers at the turn of the century when, before making a software purchase, you actually had to read the system requirements/recommendations on the bottom of the box. With iOS 5, Apple, despite disabling most of the new features and capabilities advertised when installed on the 3Gs, managed to really make the phone run like Private Pyle climbs obstacles.
