airdvr 200 #1 October 4, 2012 Didn't realize it was that serious. Went for a sleep study last week. Wow! Average incidents per hour - 67 Longest incident - 111 seconds O2 saturation - 78% I've felt like crap for years. Always tired, yawning. Maybe this will fix the problem. Please don't dent the planet. missbrz 0 #2 October 4, 2012 Good for you for finally going for the study. My mother's got so bad at one point that she was told she could just stop breathing for good if she didn't start managing it. Take it seriously. DiverMike 5 #3 October 4, 2012 Don't know if you are a TI or not, but if you have sleep apnea you will not be able to get a third class FAA medical certificate without a waiver involving additional sleep/wake tests and certification from a doctor you are treating via a CPAP or a surgery like UPPP. Been there, done that, paid the price. For the same reason I jump off a perfectly good diving board.

strife 0 #6 October 4, 2012 I had it reasonably bad didnt realise how bad until I was in ICU for an unrelated incident and the oxygen saturation levels would set of the alarms throughout the stint in ICU. Weight loss helped me. Hope you get it sorted. Do you ever fall asleep at a traffic lights ?
airdvr 200 #7 October 4, 2012 No unintentional falling asleep. Just tired all the time. I was like this before I had my heart attack 2 years ago. Doc thinks this had more to do with the MI than we thought. Not looking forward to the mask but I am looking forward to a really restful night's sleep. Please don't dent the planet. ryoder 1,509 #8 October 4, 2012 I had a friend who had throat surgery to fix it. Not something I want to experience."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
murrays 0 #9 October 4, 2012 I've been using a CPAP machine for about 3 years now. I definitely notice the difference. CSpenceFLY 1 #11 October 5, 2012 Never went for a sleep study but mine got so bad I was waking up gasping for air. Probably lead to my insomnia. Got to the point I would fall asleep almost any time I got still and had a hard time driving day or night. Almost wrecked the Harley twice. I had a lot of health shit going on a the same time. As my health turned around I started loosing weight and it got better. I've lost almost 50 lbs and I believe mine is gone. Wife says I still snore but not near as bad as I did. councilman24 36 #16 October 6, 2012 I use the nasal thing that just pokes in your nose with my CPAP. Not a full mask over the nose. Works for some people. I'm REALLY crabby when I forget to bring it with me on a trip. I did a second study to determine what device worked. My wife used to make me sleep down stairs, or she'd leave for the couch.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
