Favorite Lyrics from a song:

Recommended Posts

A few rambling 'round my head this morning...not necessarily my fav's all the time, but apropos lots of the time....

"fools to the left of me,
Jokers to the right,
Stuck in the middle again..."

(I might have gotten that one confused, but it's close)

"He who made kittens
Put snakes in the grass"

"Hellooo, is there anybody out there?
Is there anybody listening?"

The whole song "Southen Sky" by the Eagles - they have a live version of it which is truly amazing...tight harmonies, serious serious music right there.

And of course, what Muenkel said...It's a Wonderful World...(some days take more coffee than others...)

There are tons more...

Schism

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them fall away
mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing,
pure intention juxtaposed will set two lovers souls in motion
disintegrating as it goes testing our communication
the light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so
we cannot see to reach an end crippling our communication.

I know the pieces fit cuz I watched them tumble down
no fault, none to blame it doesn't mean I don't desire to
point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over.
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication.

The poetry that comes from the squaring off between,
And the circling is worth it.
Finding beauty in the dissonance.

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the the math enough to know the dangers of a second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication

cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion

between supposed lovers
between supposed brothers.

And I know the pieces fit.
--Tool--
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

It's "wonderful" world, not "beautiful".

Isn't "It's a Beautiful World" actually a DEVO song??

Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling
Emotionless the magistrate turns 'round, frowning
and who's the fool who wears the crown
Go down in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fearlines in the frown
You look down
Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd

Pink Floyd, Fearless, from "Meddle" (1971)
"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Part from Pink Floyd's song "Sorrow"

...There's an unceasing wind that blows through this night
And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my sight
And silence that speaks so much louder that words,
Of promises broken...

and part from Smashing Pumpkins song "Thru the eyes of ruby"

...Your strength is my weakness, your weakness my hate
My love for you just can't explain
Why we're forever frozen, forever beautiful
Forever lost inside ourselves

The night has come to hold us young.

'80's flashback>>

it's a beautiful world we live in
a sweet romantic place
beautiful people everywhere
the way they show they care
makes me want to say
it's a beautiful world
for you
it's a wonderful time to be here
it's nice to be alive
wonderful people everywhere
the way they comb their hair
makes me want to say
it's a wonderful place
for you
hey
tell me what i say
boy 'n' girl with the new clothes on
you can shake it to me all night long
hey hey
it's not for me

Do you Realize? By the Flaming Lips

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh
Do You Realize - that everyone you know
Someday will die -

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize
The words I have to say, May well be simple but they're true, Until you give your love, There's nothing more that we can do-David Bowie

Time it was, and what a time it was, it was
a time of innocence
a time of confidences
Long ago, it must be
I have a photograph
Preserve your memories
They're all that's left you

This is an awesome song!:)
I'm going to play this CD on the way home. Thanks.

Simon and Garfunkel rock!:)

Here I am in my younger days, stargazing
painting a picture perfect match
of how my life and love would be

Not counting the unmarked paths of misdirection
My compass, faith in love's perfection
I missed a million miles of road I should have seen

Meanwhile our friends we thought were so together
they've all gone and left each other
in search of fairer weather

And we sit here in our storm and drink a toast
to the slim chance of love's recovery

simon and garfunkel... rawk!

what a dream i had
pressed in organdy
clothed in crinoline
of smoky burgandy
softer than the rain

i wandered empty streets down
past the shop displays
i heard cathedral bells
dripping down the alleyways
as i walked on

and when you ran to me your
cheeks flushed with the night
we walked on frosted fields
of juniper and lamplight

i held your haaaaaaaaaaaaaaand

and when i awoke
and felt you warm and near
i kissed your honey hair
with my grateful tears
oh i love you, girrrrrrrrrrrrrrl...

Great idea for a thread PLF!!!

You can fool some people some times.
But you can't fool all the people all the time.

or

You're head is hummin and it won't go, in case you don't know.
The pipper's calling you to join him.
Dear lady can you hear the wind blow? And did you know,
your stairway lies on the wispering wind.

or

Dead president's corpse in the driver's car
The engine runs on glue and tar
Come on along, not goin' very far
To the East to meet the Czar

or

Pas un jour, pas une heure, sans que je pense a toi.
Quand je reve, je to vois.
Come si tu etais la.

My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I second that!

I'm not a "country" girl but I love this one by Tim Mcgraw.

...I got a life that most would love to have,
But sometimes I still wake up fightin' mad
At where this road I'm headin' down might lead
I guess that's just the cowboy in me

And for a slight change in style, My Funeral by a small band called Mainstay:

...When people see my tombstone and the years which I have lived. Will they remember them has a blessing or will they curse the day I was born? What will come to mind at the site of my grave? Years after I am gone. Years after I have died. May my life be evidence!

Well my old friend said to me
That I ain't being what I'm supposed to be
Well I don't know. It could be true
I know I wasn't always there for you

And now you're ready to walk out
You're ready to run
Talk to me can't you see
I would never want to do what it seems I've done
You can't deal me the aces and think I wouldn't play
don't let this be the reason you would walk away

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

An ex-girlfriend played me this one by Charlie Robison:

So sit down here beside me now and I'll tell you what we'll do.
We're gonna twist them lids and hope our kids look more like me than you
And when the bottle's finally empty we're gonna tumble across the floor
And I'm gonna pray that my imagination is gonna pull me through once more.

So darlin' don't you worry cause they say that love is blind
Lust has eyes like an eagle, it's gonna drive me outta my mind
Though my eyes sometimes wander it doesn't mean that I'm untrue.
You're not the best, but you're the best that I can do.

Question: Why do I miss her so much?

My wife is hotter than your wife.
