quade 4 #2 March 15, 2013 I was willing to go out to the top of a five story parking garage to look, but it was lost in the haze and light pollution.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

kawisixer01 0 #5 March 15, 2013 I couldn't see anything last night. Was supposed to be above and to the right of the moon?? I looked about 8:30.
funjumper101 15 #6 March 15, 2013 I tried for several days to see it. No joy. I live out in the country on a five acre ranch. There are no streetlights and it is over 100 miles to the nearest major metropolitan area. I have an unobstructed western view. It gets REALLY dark when the sun goes down. As far as good viewing conditions, I should have been at a 10 out of 10. I am begininng to think that this "comet" was an extremely well played practical joke. dhr18 0 #9 March 16, 2013 It was very hard to make out without binos. I live I. An area with very clear skies and it looked bout like a faint star. Not very bright at all.

lawrocket 3 #12 March 18, 2013 QuoteI tried for several days to see it. No joy. Same here. For a "naked eye comet" this thing is indistinguishable. Even with binoculars I couldn't make it out. My wife is hotter than your wife.

rifleman 61 #21 March 19, 2013 Don't know why I'm being called an idiot - Hale-Bopp is a long period comet and will probably return sometime around 4385 AD and was visible to the naked eye for about 18 1/2 months. I'll never see it again so it was worth the effort of going out to watch it.Atheism is a Non-Prophet Organisation
