BillyVance 34 #1 May 15, 2013 A couple of college football coaches in the Big 12 have said that media reports of SEC dominance is "propaganda". Oklahoma, or rather, Chokelahoma coach Bob Stoops and Kansas coach Charlie Weis thinks the Big 12 is stronger top to bottom. Even compared won-loss records of the bottom half teams of both conferences, and the Big 12's bottom half did have a better record. But what they failed to understand or refused to see, is that last season, SIX of the top TEN teams in the NATION were from the SEC. In comparison, I think only 2 or 3 Big 12 teams were ranked in the top 25. It's kind of hard for a bottom half SEC team to beat one of the top six teams since they're just that much better. Even Texas A&M kicked the crap out of Oklahoma in the bowl game. But hey, if they wanna keep on sounding like idiots, be my guest. Remember Missouri's defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson calling Georgia's style of football "old man football"? Near the end of Georgia lopsided football victory over Missouri, the UGA fans were chanting "OLD MAN FOOTBALL! OLD MAN FOOTBALL!" BIGUN 1,236 #5 May 15, 2013 The Big 12 and SEC both sent nine teams to bowl games, but that number meant 90 percent of the Big 12 participated in the postseason, the highest number of any conference in college football history. SOURCE: http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/67063/weis-stoops-has-a-point-in-sec-criticism Yeah they did, with only 10 teams in a weak-ass conference. The SEC has 14. The SEC's top 6 teams - Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina, all of whom I believe finished in or were ranked in the top ten in the country last season, were a combined 33-0 against the bottom 8 teams. So you can see why Stoops and Weis are mouthing off. They don't think the bottom half is very good. They just won't mention how good the top 6 were. lawrocket 3 #12 May 15, 2013 It appears that such statements struck a nerve with SEC crowd. It's like telling your wife she could lose a few pounds - even if true it will be met with anger and vitriol. Admission is the first step, Billy. The SEC is a shitty conference with some very good teams. The good teams now will suck in five years after recruiting violations and suspensions by the NCAA and someone else will step up the dirty work and be good. What I'm waiting for is for the SEC coaches to insult the academic achievements of Big 12 unis. There would be a fun scrap. My wife is hotter than your wife. All he's concerned about is Alabama football. Not to say that other SEC coaches don't talk smack. Vanderbilt's head coach Franklin and a Florida assistant coach have called Nick Saban "Satan". Even new Arkansas head coach Bret Beliema has made interesting comments that had Alabama fans rubbing their hands in anticipation for another beat-down like last year's 52-0 whitewash. Just know that Alabama tends to make others pay for their "insults" - i.e. bulletin board material.
