TEric 0 #1 November 20, 2004 I jump a Stiletto 135 in a Mirage G3, and my openings are very sudden following a longish delay after deployment. By this I mean that I dump, get a 3-4 second delay, then have an open canopy. The deployment sequence does not sit me up so I can look up at an opening canopy, I go from flat to standing in virtually no time at all, but after a disturbing delay. I actually had someone on the ground who watched me deploy mention that they were certain I was having a pilot chute in tow mal. My pin pressure is snug but not overly tight, and the PC doesn't appear to be overly baffed out. I would like to both speed up the time between deployment and full line extension, and slow down the time between line extension and fully open canopy. Suggestions? Thanks
AggieDave 6 #2 November 20, 2004 I'm going to guess you have a collapsable PC. Sounds like your kill line may have shrunk and you don't have a fully uncollapsed PC, thus not much drag, giving you serious PC hesitation. If not, then is the PC the one that came with your container? Is it smaller? Do you know? Talk to your rigger.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." GravityGirl 0 #3 November 20, 2004 Have a rigger look at your pilot chute. It sounds like it may not be doing it's job properly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
riggerrob 635 #4 November 20, 2004 Refer to the Mirage manual to confirm that you are routing the bridle correctly.
upndownshop 0 #5 November 20, 2004 The older G3's had a slight design flaw. We discovered that the main pin protection cover on the older G3's was sewn on top which leaves a corner right where the bridle would lay upon closing thus creating a snag point. That "sharp" edge with the binding tape and codura is pretty stiff. We were able to pick the rig up by the bridle and the pin remain in place thus creating a pc hesitation. We usually only found this when people were putting larger mains in them making the container "tight" to close. The newer G3's have the main cover sewn underneath and therefore leaving no snag points for the bridle. I believe the change was made in 2003??? Hope this helps, not saying it is the problem just FYI.
