Amazing that anyone made it out of that alive.



That is mind boggling.
I would have bet any amount of money that was unsurvivable.

Me too. Looks like a buzz job gone bad. Lots of energy, gear up, but could have used a more stabilized approach. [:/]

Having the wings more horizontal (rather than vertical) would have helped keep them off of the ground.:S

Happened Monday 5 August 2013 or August 7, 2013 the reports differ a bit.

Word I've seen around the interwebs was that the pilot had strong ties with the guys putting on the race and the co-pilot had also spoken with the pilot about his wreckless flying.

Also says that something like 12 years to the day, THAT medic treated the co-pilot after a different crash.

Sorry, I just enjoyed the irony of that one too much.

In a case like that, I'm really glad the copilot survived. Too many right seaters have been wrongly killed by A$$hats sitting in the left seat. >:(
