GeordieSkydiver 0 #1 October 31, 2004 My risers on my rig have velcro, and I want to swap them out and buy some with handles fitted also. Where can I get them? I cant seem to find anywhere that sells them. Its a zp.exe with mini risers on it. riggerrob 630 #2 October 31, 2004 All the harness manufacturers (Thomas Sports Equipment, Parachutes de France, Aerodyne, Relative Workshop, etc.) and every skydiving dealer (Square One, Para-Gear, etc.) will cheerfully sell you a new set of risers. Start by asking your instructor or Drop Zone Operator which dealer they recomend.
TALONSKY 0 #3 October 31, 2004 You can get them as stated above from the manufacturer of the container you own. It is also possible to get risers from a different manufacturer. I personally have Mirage risers in both of my rigs( an Infinity and Eclipse). I like their front dive loops as well as how they store the extra brake line( a added bonus with Mirage is that there risers come stock with hard housings). If you call most gear stores (Square one, Sunshine factory, etc) they will be able to get them for you. Kirk
bliston 0 #4 October 31, 2004 It is very important to make sure the risers you get are compatible with the container you have, they are not all equal. Please refer to Relative Workshop's site http://www.relativeworkshop.com/tech_risers.html for more info on the problems than can result by mixing and matching. You can't just have three rings and some type 17 and figure it's all going to work the same. The exact specifications (like the length of white loop, for example) are critical, especially on mini risers b/c they don't have the mechanical advantage that large three ring risers have. I would strongly recommend getting risers from the same company that manufactured your container regarless of what what the other "cool kids" at your dz have. In my mind the cutaway system (in terms of reliability) is one of the most crucial aspects of your gear. Don't cut corners or go for "a cheaper option" and be sure to disassemble, inspect, and clean your cables at least once a month regardless of the number of jumps (even zero) that you did.
