Ideas for (easy-ish) guitar songs??

Recommended Posts

I have asked this before, but I find people's responses change as they listen to new music, et cetera...

I'm kind of running out of ideas for new guitar songs to learn. I am googling and I occasionally find a really good tune to start playing... Would still like some ideas from some of the guitar players (or guitar fans!) on here to change things up a bit :)
Thanks in advance :)
Some I already know:
- the sound of silence
- little red riding hood
- people are strange
- Hélène (Roch Voisine)
- la complainte du phoque en Alaska
- Je l'aime à mourir
- Cecilia Lind
- brown eyed girl
- harvest moon
- more than words
- dream a little dream of me
- video games
- hallelujah
- quelqu'un m'a dit
- no woman no cry
- en décembre
- mon coeur pour te garder
- dreams (fleetwood mac)
- dream (priscilla ahn)
- Michelle (Beatles)

That's mostly it - maybe one or two more I missed... Not really a *massive* repertoire...! Looking to expand it :)

Every one I know who plays the guitar started off
learning,

House of the rising Sun
freebird

Then got hold of a copy of guitar heaven to give them something to aspire to.

Also look up,
Julian Bream
Andrs Segovia
Blind Gary Davis (gospel)

I should mention: acoustic guitar :P

And just to specify: Zep, those are great songs, but too hard!!!! :|:$

Well, maybe the first is ok - am trying it now :)

Zep

That's why I edited and mentioned
Julian Bream
Andrs Segovia
Blind Gary Davis (gospel)

Look them up on youtube.

Have fun.

Sweet!! Really enjoying House Of The Rising Sun and almost certainly wouldn't have thought about it on my own - thanks :)

There's the entire Bob Dylan repertoire.

There is a difference between the structure and format, and having something to say.

Shakespeare's sonnets all use the same structure, yet each one says something different.

The same is true for haiku or the blues.

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac is very easy to learn & play, and sounds great. Good strummin'-at-the-party kind of song.

p.s. - if you haven't learned basic finger-picking yet, do so now. It's really quite easy to learn, and with a solo guitar a song like this sounds better finger-picked than strummed (IMO).
