AC/DC 1973-2014 The end of an era

Recommended Posts

Sadly, it appears that AC/DC is hanging it up. Malcolm Young reportedly had a stroke and found that he couldn't play his guitar. Add to that, he's shown symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's.

Suffice it to say, without Malcolm, there is no AC/DC. HE started the band. HE is the boss of the band. Nobody plays guitar like HE does it.

41 hard rocking years. That's one hell of a good run for one of the greatest hard rocking bands ever, that never changed its style and never went out of style either.

Live easy, Malcolm, and thanks for all the great stuff.

"I went out for a week one night" many, many times with AC/DC.;) I prefer the earlier years with Bon Scott as lead singer though. He was such a bad boy!!:) I kind of lost interest after he died in 1980. Just wasn't the same without him up front with Malcolm and Angus. I have all their early albums.

Such a shame.[:/] Hopefully Malcolm's remaining time will be somewhat peaceful.

First time I saw Maximum Overdrive my friends older brother hooked up the speakers to the TV and jacked up the volume.

I've been hooked ever since.B|

Yeah, love that song Who Made Who. B|

And of course, my all time favorite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2AC41dglnM you've been.... thunderstruck! B|

ETA: can't post without another old favorite from the Bon Scott days - If you want blood, you've got it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EWqTym2cQU note that Bon stabs Angus through the gut with the guitar. :D:D:D

Others... including this one with Arnold Swarzenegger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLsXJitaiVo

Another great video with Ironman 2 clips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRQnJyP77tY

And of course, the song they're most famous for...

Highway To Hell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEPmA3USJdI this is incredible, the concert at the River Plate stadium in 2009 in South America. The crowd jumping in unison with the beat.

I've been following the story and it is not at all clear that they are calling it quits.

Yeah I noticed that in the original story, small chance of AC/DC playing again. It all depends on Malcolm's recovery. Can he get back to playing his guitar like he's done for 40+ years?

Ah yes the two cello guys. For some reason I wasn't able to open the link due to some security issue that my laptop's Norton software warned me about, I think I've seen that video before. They're on stage in front of an audience dressed like its the 1700's or something like that? :D

I have all 7 of their songs on a cassette here somewhere..

Your thinking of KISS. No one could turn 7 songs into 35 albums as well as they could...

Now I have to go dig up my old copy of Maximum Overdrive to watch again.

Anyone still have a VHS player I can borrow?

You got it (if you want blood...).

Never saw anyone play a cello while crawfishing across the stage before. :)

And...damn it. I never got a chance to see them live.

They killed the two times I saw them.

I feel your pain....I feel the same way about the two opportunities I had to see the original Skynyrd.......but I thought I'd have plenty of time, you know ? Now, I'd trade ALL the Boston concerts, and probably half of the BOCs, Nugent, Seeger, and Stones gigs I've been to, to hear RVZ live just once.
