Open question - meningitis in San Diego?

Just a question to get a sense of how widely this was known. How many people out there heard of the meningitis case last week in San Diego?

I just googled it. Sad, but not an outbreak, IMO. Every few years it seems a college student comes down with it. Usually no more than one or two. Hopefully the same here.

Colleges seem to be somewhere that put people at risk for all sorts of communicable diseases--close quarters, lowered immune responses due to stress, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, etc….

High school kid here in Central Florida also died of bacterial meningitis last week.
