What did you learn this year?

***That in our constant search for convenience so that we can maximize enjoyment, we undervalue the effort required to make our lives -- little things like cooking, cleaning (ick), and gardening. We don't fill all that found time with value-add, where the original (yes, sometimes boring) activities are value-add.

I learned that less is more, that throwing out and simplifying is liberating.

I learned that Yoga is really, really good for my back and I intend to do it more and more.

I learned that gullible is NOT painted on the ceiling. :S

Don't forget it doesn't sound like oranges either. :P
No matter how slowly you say oranges it never sounds like gullible.
Believe me I tried.

I learned

- that even if someone says they love you and believes that they are your friend, their definition and yours may vary so much that they may as well hate you, the end result is the same. Cutting toxic people out of my life has left me so much happier :)
- to trust my intuition much more. Gut instinct is real

- how to keep wild boar and deer out of an area by building thorny hedges :D

- that miracles do happen. My dad has been sinking deeper into dementia for the last 2 years to the point where he rarely recognises us, but we had a whole week of him alert and happy and talkative over Christmas, when the doctors had told us he wouldn't see out the summer B|

It's been another year of great extremes of happiness and sadness but at least I didn't spend the whole of New Year in A&E so it's started off a lot better this time around :P

And I still over-use smilies......

Squeak

***I learned how to make and throw a swoopstick which will swoop your head out like a boss :P

WTF, swoopstick???

It's a BOOMERANG!

I thought it was a Australian Frisbee.:|

Of course, BOOMERANG it is. No hard feelings :D

You know how dangerous is standing where swoopers land?
Well, this is similar. It does swoop and is big enough and fast
so I just gave it a pet name :)
What goes around, comes later.
