Which side of the bed do you sleep on? Why?

I would call that the left side, unless you are putting your feet toward the headboard (presuming that your wife is also in the bed).

My reference point is standing at the foot of the bed facing the headboard.

I view it as the in-use frame of reference. I pulled up a manual for a sleep number bed, and they do the same. i.e., lay on your back with head at headboard, left side is on the left.

Which end of the bed am I looking from? What if the bed is a square or round (ha ha) in the middle of a square or round room? ;)

That's house right then, not stage right. Put on your pants, which is the right leg?;) Put on your bed, which is the right side?:P

Or just point and say that one.
