JohnMitchell 16 #2 September 24, 2016 Holy crap! I bet some of those injuries were very serious. Thank goodness to cars being so much more crashworthy than a few decades back. The other thing is how the driver seems to literally or figuratively be asleep at the wheel. Texting or time for a tox screen?
gowlerk 2,072 #3 September 24, 2016 My guess is sleeping. The truck is a day cab, meaning no sleeper. So he is a local driver. The hours of service laws cover how much time off you must have, but they have no way of making you sleep enough. He probably dozed off with the cruise control on. A new truck would have a sensor and applied brakes in that situation. At least enough brake to ease the crash, but not enough to completely prevent it.Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. BillyVance 34 #4 September 25, 2016 The comments below the video on YouTube shows that he is a local driver. The exit this happened at is well known locally as the access point from the highway to the amusement park and it can have traffic backed up onto the highway. I'm thinking texting.
