JohnnyMarko 1 #2 October 9, 2016 To all my fellow Americans, when you get a crazy hospital bill, call and ask for an itemized receipt. Most of the time they'll take this kind of shit off the bill. Recently spent some time in the ER for a broken bone. Bill went from $756 to $15 in a matter of minutes.

ryoder 1,522 #5 October 9, 2016 Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1986 requires any hospital taking payments from Medicare to treat all emergency room patients, regardless of ability to pay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Medical_Treatment_and_Active_Labor_Act So what hospitals have done to recover their losses, is pad the bills of those patients who can pay. And since the emergency room is the defacto medical care for uninsured people in the US, the insured portion of the population was already footing the bill, even before ACA."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. oldwomanc6 38 #6 October 10, 2016 I feel fortunate that both my children cost only $7. We paid in other ways, however. Duty to your country, low pay, and so forth … eta: and a war.lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
JohnMitchell 16 #7 October 10, 2016 As long as we continue to have corporation after corporation trying to amass huge profits in our health care system, we'll continue to spend more money than any other civilized country for our health care. The profit motive is driving our costs to ridiculous levels. There are much better systems, but our legislative branch is already in the pocket of Big Medicine.
