Channman 2 #1 December 8, 2016 Looking to add a Dynon EFIS-D10A to the panel on my PA-24, Piper Comanche 180, which I need to confirm is covered under the STC. Has anyone gone through the FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process to install a Dynon in their aircraft and if so what was your experience in regards to the process. My hope is the FAA will within a few short years allow additional experimental aircraft avionics to be approved for Part 91 single engine piston aircraft. Many of the avionics used in experimental aircraft such as RV-6, 8, 10's are far more reliable than TSO avionics that are a hell of a lot more expensive and do not perform as well or hold up. https://www.google.com/search?q=Dynon+D10A+photo&biw=1368&bih=880&tbm=isch&imgil=nOA8Yk6NgcRuyM%253A%253Bv45IEGwBds3sUM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.dynonavionics.com%25252Fefis-d10a.php&source=iu&pf=m&fir=nOA8Yk6NgcRuyM%253A%252Cv45IEGwBds3sUM%252C_&usg=__atvrc9Uums_MPEMieEqAkmC9buE%3D&dpr=0.95&ved=0ahUKEwjpn5KvxeXQAhVG-mMKHZdoCEQQyjcIMw&ei=xtBJWOmkDcb0jwOX0aGgBA#imgrc=nOA8Yk6NgcRuyM%3A
jonstark 8 #2 December 8, 2016 If your aircraft is included in the STC's AML or Applicable Model List then the process is very simple. An A&P can install the unit, an IA inspects his work and returns the aircraft to service with FAA form 337. Piece o cake! If your aircraft is not in the AML then wait! It will be. Check out the Garmin G5. Their AML is very extensive. Jon

Which by the way I have one for sell...Flat Top Ninja with the Vittorazi Moster 185 motor and comes with the Air Trike, Luggage Bag, Sky Reserve, Side Bag, Strobes, Altimeter and a Sky CIMA K2 Wing, all at the low, low price of $8,000.00. This is a deal of a life time if you know someone who loves to fly. I have Roughly 14K in it. Thanks for the links. I posting the video as it give a little idea of what the Flat Top Paramotor Can Do...and the ladies are easy to the eyes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcR6xQ0Ohw8
lowapproach 0 #6 December 12, 2016 I have a PA24-250 and was considering the Dynon. Check out the Garmin instead (I was quoted around $3500 installed). https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/in-the-air/general-aviation/indicators/g5-electronic-flight-instrument-for-certificated-aircraft/prod570665.html

Primarily the Heading bug and the HSI feature which is very nice. I use a GNS 480 and it should sinc up well with it.
lowapproach 0 #8 December 13, 2016 I recently went with an all Garmin stack (430W, GTX-345, FlightStream, etc). It is hard to argue that they do not play well together. The fit and finish of the Garmin products has been excellent - although for the premium you should expect it to be.

Yep, ADS-B is another up grade I need to complete, thus the reason to sell one of my Para-motors. Most of my IFR flying has been with the 430 & 530...know them well...but getting this plane it came with the GNS 480 which is a great Flight Management system...but on a total different level from the 430...so I haven't taken it into the soup yet without having a friend come along and get me up to speed. Reklaw Fly-In several months back...formation flight my plane is in lead with the PA-24 250 in tail. It appears at the 0:18 Mark and again at the 0:28 Mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK9zsGYHi7I Thanks for the reply...Merry Christmas.

It sends traffic data to the Garmin GNS430W and WiFi's traffic and weather to Foreflight.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. Very Nice...like it. I use Stratus currently for WX and Traffic with Foreflight. I currently have a MX20 I'm thinking of replacing as well but that is down the ROAD. I'm leaning on beginning the process for getting the G5 installed as early as possible, but while that is in works Hell why put off ADS-B just might pull the trigger on that next week. Was looking at the GTX 345, but your choice has more bang for the buck. Are you still flying the same Mooney you flew out to Skydive Spaceland several years back? lowapproach 0 #13 December 14, 2016 I looked at the L-3.... It was a tough decision. In the end, I chose the "no one gets fired for buying Garmin" approach. Nothing more than emotion. The L-3 looks sick.
