The Dead Skydivers Wisdom Collective Speaks!

I'm a little surprised by the level of vitriol in this thread. I'm in the, I'll politely call it the skeptic camp. I call bullshit on this. My read is that it's some one praying on new age hippies. But I really don't care. If they want to believe this stuff and she wants to feed it to them and they want to swallow it with a smile... I don't see it as any different then any other religion. Scam? Want to talk about the collection plates passed around in churches? It is what it is. People want their belief systems no matter how silly they are.

Is any of this relevant? He wants to talk about fear management and all the rest of his self help shit. And he's not a bad speaker. His ideas ideas aren't even that bad. And most importantly, the only thing that matters, He's getting payed for these lectures. He's selling it. Good on him. I see all of this as just a segue that he used to roll into the ideas he wanted to talk about. Why the hoopla?

Why the hoopla? Why the vitriol?

Because these frauds prey on people's grief. On their suffering. On their fears.

They make a lot of money telling lies.
Often hurting the people that they are scamming. In addition to taking their money.

These scammers are the lowest of the low.

Edit to add:

You compare it to the collection plates in church. I don't really have a problem with that. There are a lot of similarities.

If someone came on here promoting some religion or another, claiming that "worshiping my God will make you a better skydiver", I'd have the exact same reaction.

OK, so lets start with this. How did someone who has had no contact with any skydivers ever before in her life know the unpublicized nickname of Robert Mahaffey: "Muffy the Monkey"?
How did she know that his was a master pianist?

I did not tell her anything about these people.

Not a word.

Love your skydiving related youtube videos, safety first, PC packing etc

Also, I read your book 'Transcending Fear' before I began skydiving and found it immense help in dealing with the whole s*****g my pants thing.

I thought that you were taking the piss when you posted this, but apparently you are deadly serious.

I'm quite surprised that someone who seems so logical and objective when it comes to your vocation can be into this kinds of wishy washy bollocks, but there you go. Contradictions are all around us.

This would be funny, if not for the exploitation of the deceased

Interesting debate, while I personally believe psychic readers are scammers in long tradition, there is emerging scientific evidence that the human brain is a quantum computer, and that the information it stores is not lost after death, but folds back into the universe, a soul if you will. The theory is called Orch OR and can explain where EEG rhythms originate in our brains.http://www.express.co.uk/news/science/728897/LIFE-AFTER-DEATH-consciousness-continue-SOUL

Interesting, if a bit woolly. Either way, I highly doubt Ms Aaralyn is relying on quantum computing to retrieve 'information from the afterlife' - she's probably just using her iPad.

Now, I can happily accept that there's a great deal we don't understand about how our world works, including in matters relating to human consciousness - but it really does surprise me how some otherwise very smart people seem to lose all common sense when it comes to spooky stuff. It's just the way we seem to be wired, that we'd rather attribute a supernatural explanation to events we can't easily explain than look at all the more prosaic (and logical) possibilities.

Pathological science is an area of research where "people are tricked into false results ... by subjective effects, wishful thinking or threshold interactions." The term was first used by Irving Langmuir, Nobel Prize-winning chemist, during a 1953 colloquium at the Knolls Research Laboratory.

This video is removed. Too controversial and divisive. I want to bring skydivers together, not separate them into camps based on cosmology. Sorry to have created waves.

***This some next level shit! Too bad the video is gone. I wanted to see what a fraud this girl was.

This isn’t dead skydivers, but the Archangel Michael being channeled by this fraud.

I didn't watch the video you linked, but I did read the comments.

The level of self-delusion there is equal parts hilarious and terrifying!

Hell
Squirrel Nut Zippers

-----------------------------------------------
In the afterlife
You could be headed for the serious strife
Right now you make the scene all day
But tomorrow there'll be Hell to pay

People listen attentively
I mean about future calamity
I used to think the idea was obsolete
Until I heard the old man stamping his feet.

This is a place where eternally
Fire is applied to the body
Teeth are extruded and bones are ground
Then baked into cakes which are passed around.

Beauty, talent, fame, money, refinement
Top skill and brain
But all the things you try to hide
Will be revealed on the other side.

Now the D and the A and the M
And the N and the A
And the T and the I-O-N
Lose your face, lose your name
Then get fitted for a suit of flame
