Muppetdog 0 #1 July 27, 2004 I am looking for the Tempo 170 and the PD143 reserves weights and what thier pack volumes are. Trying to make a comparison. Blues, Mark
AggieDave 6 #2 July 27, 2004 A really quick search brought me back to the PIA chart for pack volumes. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=22187;--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." diablopilot 2 #3 July 27, 2004 Are you looking to purchace one or the other for your personal use? If so what's your body weight, and what size main are you jumping. If you should be jumping a 170 main, you SHOULD NOT be on a 143R, you may want to consider a 160 or 176---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. C'mon now, what are you trying to pull here? Everyone knows that if you're flying a 170 main, you should consider a reserve in the 126R range. Makes the rig smaller, looks cooler, etc. [/sarcasm] A voice of reason penetrates...
Muppetdog 0 #5 July 28, 2004 Just wanted to know. I wanted to see if I could put both in the reserve part of my container. Never can be to safe.

If I don't know soemone else on here surly will know if either canopy (or any other for that matter) will be a reasonable fit.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. freefly68 0 #7 July 28, 2004 Hi if you want a small packing reserve, have a look for the Paratec Speed 2000. a few weeks ago we put a speed 190 in a rig build for a tempo 135. blues Frankprovehito in altum

PhreeZone 20 #10 July 28, 2004 135 from one company is not a 135 from another company. A PD 143 is larger then a Micro-Raven 150. A Raven 109 is about the size of the PD 99 reserve. A Tempo 210 is about the size of a PD 193. Plus look at the reenforcment and other bulk factors. Small packing/large square footage is not always the best solution.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
freefly68 0 #11 July 28, 2004 Hi why not?? i saw speed reserves deployed by cypres at high over 300km/h (185mph/161 knots) and there are no damage to the lines or the fabric. the speed reserve has all state of the art reinforcements blues Frank i also saw videos of droptest for the tandem speed reserve. 250kg deployed at a topspeed of near 500km/h. just a steeringline break.provehito in altum

Chrisky 0 #13 July 28, 2004 Quotethe square footage when measured via other more accepted methods says it's smaller than indicated How big are the measuring differences between the different methods? My Speed 135 is listed to pack smaller than the PDR 126, the question is, measuring the same way as PD would it be 126 or larger/smaller?(serious, non-rethoric question) Even if the Tempo 135 taken from the refferred example has "standardized" measurement of 150, and the Speed 190 of 170, it is still a bigger reserve fitting in the same container... I guess one can safely assume that no packvolume stated by any manufacturer can stand the precise test in any loft at any time. So imo it is still a valid claim for comparison. The mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. From the edge you just see more. ... Not every Swooper hooks & not every Hooker swoops ... diablopilot 2 #14 July 28, 2004 I've also seen a PDR 160 in a Javelin sized for a PDR 126. Doesn't mean it was right.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
kimgriffin 0 #15 July 29, 2004 I hope you choose a reserve brand based on quality and and size on knowing that you could land it safely in to a tiny back yard in windy conditions - not on price or pack volume. BTW - Performance Designs does demo its reserves as mains - comes with a pilot chute & risers, ready to hook up.-Kimberly Griffin
