skydiver30960 0 #3 July 1, 2004 Good to see. I guess we'll be seeing a change to aircraft cable closing loops in the near future. Should help cut down on wear and replacement... Elvisio "no more itty bitty spectra fid" Rodriguez

riggerrob 558 #8 July 3, 2004 Nothing new! Both Airtec (Cypres) and FXC (ASTRA) proved - during early tests - that their AADs could cut ripcord cables. The primary reason the tell us to use flimsy closing loops (400 pound Spectra) and grease them is to allow side flaps to quickly slide out of the way of pilot chutes. Have you noticed that pilot chute springs have gotten stronger since loop-cutter style AADs were introduced?
