help with terms

where can I find descriptions for terms used on equipment.? I'd like to know as much as possible an be able to understand the instructor better when describing equipment a procedures? I don't want random advise but if there is some kind manual of some sort labeling whats what on rigs,harness ect... is this a silly question?

Not a silly question at all.

There used to be a glossary of terms in the Safety articles section, but I can't find it now.

If someone knows where it is, a link or where to find it would be nice.

Depending on how detailed you want to get, the SIM has some stuff on gear.

If you are a "detail weenie" (not an insult), you might look up the "FAA Rigger's Handbook." It's a fairly detailed book that covers the stuff a Rigger is supposed to learn when working towards their rating.

Fairly detailed and a bit technical, but filled with all sorts of stuff.

It's available as a free download.

I think Parachuting: The Skydiver's Handbook by Dan Poynter (ISBN-10: 1568601417) has pretty useful info in it. Hope that helps :)

Yep, I see this post was a few months ago but +1 for the Skydivers Handbook. I actually think it is a super good read for all skydivers when getting into the sport.

sorry for such the long time for reply. Thank you for the advise. I have jumped again but looking to really get involved in skydive community once I'm certified an have ground to stand on. Trying to get 1500.00 rounded up to pay for rest of course. thanks again.
