Hoping for the right weather

Recommended Posts

Howdy,
I always wanted to skydive, but first I couldn't afford it.
Then I was too fat (285 lbs) and then I was busy training triathlons and ultra-marathons.
Now with that behind I did my first tandem a few weeks back.
Loved it and signed up to get my A-License.
Last week ground-school and since then waiting for the weather to co-operate so I can start my AFF jumps.

Very frustrating...

So what do ya'll do when the weather doe not allow jumping?
The DZ is 20 min from my house, just hanging out there seems silly, as I usually can do bunch of stuff at home.
Is there any ground training you can do?

Read the forums, watch skydiving and base jumping videos on vimeo and youtube. There's a lot that can be learned doing that.
"Now, why do witches burn?"
"...because they're made of... wood?"
"Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood?"
"Build a bridge out of her."

Welcome to the forums! :) Hanging out at the dz isn't a bad thing though; you'll get to know people better who will be able to jump with you when you get your license.

Go tot he DZ on a weathered out day, bring beer, grab a grounded instructor/rigger, "bribe" them and and learn to pack!
You have to for your license, learning it's very time consuming and you don't want to waste a morning of good weather doing it.
You don't need any jumping experience to learn how to pack a parachute, on the other hand knowing it will give you a good knowledge of the gear that will make learning stuff through your course much more reasonable and easier.
I'm standing on the edge
With a vision in my head
My body screams release me
My dreams they must be fed... You're in flight.
