I am new here and wanted to say "hi". I've only tandemed jumped twice in my life (all within a 6 month period at the same DZ in Hawaii) and now want to maybe learn how to do it. It is a lot of fun.

if you wanted to choose a particular DZ to do AFF at, would you do a tandem jump first to see if you like it there, or would you just dive right in and sign up for the AFF course?

Yes.











Seriously, I wouldn't waste any $ on a tandem just to 'check out' a dropzone...you can go to another DZ to finish your training if you are dissatisfied with your AFF initial choice.

I would hang out at each dz, but I wouldn't necessarily do a tandem first just to see how they run things. That said, I usually do recommend a tandem first so people can just enjoy their first jump and not have to worry about saving their lives. But, to each his own...do what you feel comfortable with!
