Hello, everybody. I had my first jump yesterday.

Hello, everybody!

I am Waseem, and I am new to the sport. I just had my first jump yesterday, and I loved it. It was a tandem jump. Now, I plan to start AFF training.

I look forward to growing in this endeavor, and I hope to get to know you all.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Thanks for the welcome, SkyMama.

I am training at SkyDive the Farm in Rockmart, Georgia.

I did my AFF there, and I can't say enough about everyone there, great great people! I can't wait to get back there an finish my A license.
Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.

hey,

I'm planning on doing my first jump soon. Just psyching myself up to do it.

was it hard taking that first leap out of the plane?

My first was a tandem, and I was strapped to my instructor, so when he let go of the plane I went too. Really easy, actually!

When I did my AFF jumps, it was scary, but at the same time, I was really focused on what I was going to do, and stepping out of the plane was just one of those things.

But I did say "no!" on jumprun on my AFF level2. Really. One of my skydiving buddies remembers it and keeps teasing me about it even now:D.

It is great fun, but you don't know if you like it till you try it. ;)

To the OP:

Congratulations on your tandem, great video, it looks like you had a good time! And welcome to the forums!
Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet.

I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

I would HIGHLY recommend that you do a tandem jump for your first jump.

I did my first jump tandem, and my second (today) AFF Level 1.

AFF is very intensive ground school, and very intensive training, and can easily scare away someone who has never jumped before.

I wasn't nervous during my tandem jump, but I was nervous in AFF Level 1.

Taking the first step wasn't really hard at all, but everything up to that point did get me nervous.

An experienced skydiver friend of mine convinced me to try some tunnel time first, then a tandem, then start AFF. After watching the progress through these steps he's convinced it's the optimal way to work one's way into skydiving. Looking back I can see where doing AFF-1 as the first step would have been be much more challenging.

I feel I gained skills and confidence along each step. With stability gained in the tunnel, and the first exit - free fall - landing experience from the tandem, I was more relaxed and able to focus on the tasks in my first AFF jump. It was really an enjoyable experience.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Best wishes to you on whatever path you choose!

Ok.

So I did my AFF Level 1 today. Here is the video:

I wasn't nervous during my tandem jump, but I was nervous in AFF Level 1. Even in the video, when I said that I wasn't nervous, I was lying through my teeth. ;)

AFF is very intensive ground school, and very intensive training, and can easily scare away someone who has never jumped before. Thus, I would recommend someone do tandem first.

However, once I deployed my chute, the rest was simply beautiful, peaceful, and simply indescribable.

I used to jump there and I LOVE that place!! Great people, good vibes, turbine aircraft, etc... :)

I don't know anything about the aircraft, but I agree with the great people, good vibes part. They have been very friendly and helpful.
