Back after 8 years

Recommended Posts

Howdy everyone, after a long winter (8 in truth), I decided to go back to my ever passion. I have around 1200 Jumps and started in 1994 in Brazil. In 2000 I moved to san Diego and since then no Jumps.
I contacted my local drop zone (really Local, less than 3 miles) and they will give me a mandatory refresher and One or two coach Jumps.

So here's a few questions:

1-Tn Brazil, I had an "E" license, which compares to USPA "D'. what do I have to do in order to obtain one of those? Do I have to go through all Letter tests?

2- My last canopy was a stiletto 120 (always around 1.6 lbs/sqft). I sold all my equipment, but I think I have around 800 Jumps on that stiletto. Obviously I'll jump the Dz.'s rentals for a while until it comes back tome, but after 8 years, what has changed? I hear that most everybody loves the velocity. For someone used to a stiletto 120, how is the transition to a velocity 120?

3- my thing is FS-4 and I've been 2 times Brazilian champion (1997 and 1998). For the ones here that experienced a long time away, how long does it take to regain the old form?

I'm very excited, land now I remember the mid-week anxiety before a skydiving weekend.

cheers!

Two summers ago at Skydive Pepperell, a gentleman came back after a 41 year layoff. He had made about 100 or so jumps in the early '60s and then stopped for work and family. He's 71 now, and still in great shape. Good on him for coming back!

Ok, I think he won...

But I guess in that case, he'd have to take the full AFF course instead of a refresher only right?

I mean... how old is the ram air?

Good morning!

That's right, nothing like a good 6-way with some old dogs... the only bummer was landing out of the DZ... but that's the advantage on jumping in San Diego... you always have the border patrol to bring you back ;)

I don't know which meaning I'm replying to, but no beer, since it wasn't a first one for either

Hehe, I was just trying to be funny again (and again unsucessful B|)

The inaugural jump (after the 8yr drought) was a month ago... I told you, I'm hooked again

Then "no beer" is correct! Doesn't mean ya can't hang out and meet the other old people who took long breaks and drink "other peoples" beer!

Maybe I'd better not go jump in SD...something tells me they'd want to see my papers, and that may still not get them to bring me back over. [:/]
