First jump completed!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Saturday found me hanging on to the wing strut of a Cessna 180 with a parachute attached to my back. Needless to say, as a private pilot, this was a very wierd place for me to be.
Once i let go though, all was right with the world.
Loved every moment of it! The sensation that the straps around my legs would snap apart any second was unpleasant but they tell me it subsides in time. I guess I just did'nt trust the equipment enough.
Going again though and soon too.
Great to be part of this sport, even though my friends say I'm crazy...:)

I am glad that as a jump pilot, you decided to go ahead with this part of the sport.

Hey there! I'm a Newbie myself! Welcome! I also did not trust my equpment for a while. It comes easier with each jump. At first, I hated freefall itself--I really felt like I was not in control. Even though I am preparing for my 6th AFF jump, I have come to terns with trusting my equpment, but I am always ready for an emergency!
Good luck!

Hey new jumper. Yes you do learn to trust the equipment more over time. But it's still equipment. I will never stop checking my chest and leg straps more than once on the way to altitude and before jumping. Just recently (on the ground) I noticed one of the leg strap clips on the rental rig I use was beginning to stick in the open position. So your fear of falling through your legstraps is not irrational. ALWAYS CHECK EVERYTHING before you leave the plane. Welcome to the sport.
