sangiro 4 #1 July 11, 2005 Heya all, We pride ourselves in the fact the Dropzone.com Classifieds has grown into the largest marketplace for used skydiving gear in the world. Part of what has made it so successful is that it's free and open to everyone. Unfortunately these same characteristics makes it a target for scammers on the buying and selling side. I've implemented a few new features to help fight scams: 1) Security and Scam Alert Forum Check this often. We will post details about scams as soon as we learn about them. The lastest posts to this forum will be displayed on the Classifieds main page. 2) Time since Registration Alerts In the future you will see an "Alert" message if someone registered on the same day they posted their ad. A "Caution" message will be displayed if the user has been registered for less than a week. 3) Report a Scam Link We've added a "Report a Scam" link to the top right corner of every ad. Click on that if you suspect an ad is a scam. You'll be presented with a quick form to report the ad to us directly. 4) More Education Please read this section to educate yourself about typical buyer and seller scams. They're pretty easy to spot and the responsibility to protect yourself remains your own. We'll continue to add security and scam related info here.
