Oh my!!! My first two jumps!!!

Recommended Posts

still can't find the words to describe my feelings...

I just came back from my first two BASE jumps!

I spent Friday afternoon with my mentor, whose name I promise no to disclose publically, packing, watching videos, and talking about malfunctions, evasive maneuvers and such.

Well this morning we drove to this 360' antenna about 2 hours from the city.

The winds were OK so we went up. My first jump was a PCA. I don't remember much but I was told I did a great job. Once the canopy opened I flew the pattern and made a nice landings. The canopy ride reminded me when I was under student canopies but everything happened so fast!

Then he helped me pack and we decided to go up again. By now it was more windy. Once on top he asked me if I wanted to go hand-held because the winds were still OK. I said OK. This time the jump is more vivid in my memory and I got a little nervous in freefall because it seemed to take forever for the canopy to open and the ground was coming in fast! Finally the canopy opened and I flew the same patter but I was closer to the ground. Everything went fine but I felt very overwhelmed.

Then my mentor did something I have never seen before, a tard-over. I heard about it but never seen it. I thought it was insane.

Anyway, tomorrow if the weather cooperates we are off a 440 antenna where if I do two successful hand held jumps I'll be graduating to going stowed!

This so far beats skydiving hands down!!!

LETS HAVE SOME FUN!!!!!

Well Done!

If you go hand held and stowed in the same weekend, you have to go shirtless. I don't remember why the grandfathers of our sport had that rule cast in the base bible but I sure don't want to be the first ever to break it.

this is an april fools right?

and a tard over?
forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't a tard where ya jump with the canopy in ya hand ?
so a tard over would be like a flip with it in ya hand??
could be nasty opening.
or is a tard over another name for roll over

U dont Know what a tard over is? do u know what a parachute is. YEs u do a front flip over the canopy while holding it and the lines coilled in your hand. and yes some times it can open off heading and without a PC
your canopy flies alot faster. at eh object your about to hit. but hey go big or go home and make sure u have a boat load of drugs on u incase your hanging off the side of a building or cliff so u can deal with pain, if u survive
and a good rescue team I can recamend one for to u
I highly recamend flat and stable
BY THE WAY ARE U REALLY INTO MARTIAL ARTS
THAT KICKS BUT ME TO

Only when done in headwinds,if you kick your "packjob" or if a guy called Tom A say´s "Faber you rember what happened to Veronica(am i right and how is she?) right?" just before you jump off whith all the above inkluded:ph34r:

TARDs and TARD overs can give you some interesting openings, one thing is sure.. the canopy will open if you let go of it:P

nope TARD over is a TARD(canopy IN HAND) and a frontflip.

Maybe there should be some type of competition between Clair/Jimmy and Felonie/Magot. Maybe a KY-jelly wrestling match between the girls and for Jimmy/Magot..... Who cares as long as the other match is going:)

May we live long and die out

Well it seems that my mentor disclosed himself!

Anyway I made two more jumps today. Hand-held on both but this time I had to take a 2 seconds delay to avoid opening into the wires of a 440 A. I did not feel comfortable going stowed yet.

Everything went well on both jumps. I really enjoyed the extra time in freefall!

Jerry did a gainer on his first jump and then on his second he did not tell me what he was doing and I really thought he was going to die.

He did a what is called a Mary Poppins. It is a tard-over but the canopy is held for a longer time.

I really thought his lines got cought up because it was scarry to see him falling and trailing the canopy.

Then he told me he had to do that to open below the wires. Now it makes sense but I got really scared for him.

This adventure gets better and better each jump!

LETS HAVE SOME FUN!!!!!

Maggot, while you were working hard with the student, you missed the fun we had at the Ranch today. They built a giant penis formation in the sky for Howard Stern show. They all looked like Howard in black curly wigs and sunglasses. The flying penis will be aired on April 7th.

I can't wait to see you starring at Howard Stern show when you do a Naked Marry Poppins from his building and fly into his studio filled with retards and prostitutes.

Thanks to all!!!

Last night I was invited to jump a B but today I had a midterm and one paper due so I had to pass :(

Anyway, Jerry is going to bring me to jump with the PA crew this week-end, if the weather cooperates. He told me they got some awesome objects there but they are kind of techincal. He advised me I can get PCA off one but I should reconsider another one and just film and be ground crew.

We'll see, one step at the time.

Hey there,

I won't be around...I going to do some rigging and BASE in DC (Tree, are you there?): I gotta build a rig for my wife!

Little buddy will be there.

Don't be in a hurry for that B even though I know maggot with all his BS and macho in the end will advise you well.

Have fun off that 240 S and watch out for all those trees!
