Can buy BASE posters or photographs online?

Recommended Posts

I would like to buy a poster or enlarged photographs (professional quality) of someone base jumping. Does anyone know if I can buy them online and where?

I've done searches but all I can find are commercial skydiving posters.

Thanks! :)

Only one I know of is listed on BasicResearch.com (they are now Apex, but the sites are different still for some reason.) Anyway, It's been updated at the end of september of 05. Go to accessories and a poster is listed there.

Just to get back to the subject in hand, eh, I mean the topic, the first commercial BASE poster popped up in the late 80s. I was working at Lake Elsinore and one of my students showed up with one. When I asked where he got it he said he stopped in a shoe store for some running shoes on the way to the DZ and they were giving them away.

The company was Airwalk and the poster is of John Vincent launching off a building wearing their shoes. Keep in mind those were different times back then, but we were shocked a BASE jumper would sell out that way and this was the very beginning of John's troubles in the BASE community.

Looking back now I realize we sort of employed a double standard. Not a year later I waked into a Circuit City store (or some such) and was surprised to see BASE jumping playing on all the TVs. It was a film by Tom Sanders made especially for the purpose and my reaction was that was pretty cool.

However, John's main offense came later from burning sites and not from letting the BASE secret out . . .

There is a poster out of Ueli G (I think) jumping the Swiss Fungus. No idea where to get a copy though. Also, Thomas Ulrich who shoots for Red Bull has a site www.thomasulrich.com

Hello,
Jason Bell, Mark Lichtle, Tom Sanders,
just to name a few all have web-sites
that offer BASE photos for sale.
If you want one poster size,
they'll sell it to you.

Thanks guys for all the PMs and replies! I never realized I would have that much of a choice!

There are some really really brilliant photos, I'm so spoilt for choice.. I'm inclined towards building jumps at the moment.. I'm still looking through all the links I've been given..

And that 'insanity' one is awesome! I'm going to see if they can poster size it.

Thanks so much everyone!! :)

Well if you find some good ones....lets us have the links. As far as Jason's site....I am majorly bummed. I left my spot on the bridge and was spending my money buying aligator beef jerky and "Jokely's" sun glasses from the vendors. I was right next to the fenced off area and would have been the panoramic photo of the bridge. :( Oh well maybe in a year or two.....I'll just get a pic of myself actually jumping from the Bridge!

DR

PS, I kinda hope I get stuck in a tree on my next sky dive it that is the propper way CPR is preformed ;)

Here is the collection of sources I have so far:

http://www.basicresearch.com - 1 poster under Accessories

http://www.despair.com - look under Insanity - it is very cool but they only do postcards or a 5'' x 7" mount

http://www.thomasulrich.com - some really really awesome photographs

Vertical Visions - http://www.vertical-visions.com/stockphotos.php - extensive collection

http://www.buzzpictures.co.uk/searchresult.asp

http://www.fotolibra.com - if you run a search for base, there is 1 photo - I have been told by dmkellett that he is putting more photos on one of these days

Aerial Extreme http://www.aerialextreme.com/stock_photography/basejumpgal.htm - another extensive collection

Aerial Focus www.aerialfocus.com/ - Tom Sanders is very helpful, all you have to do is ask

Johnny Utah - [email protected] - is currently in the process of putting together a poster that sounds very cool

A contact I have been given for professional BASE photos & posters but haven't contacted yet: D.J - [email protected]

And this one is a website I stumbled upon through google.. it's completely in Russian so all I did was click on the links that say BASE.. there are so many photos and some of them are gems! I think it might just be someone's private collection, I haven't tried to contact yet but maybe someone on this forum knows more..

There you go! Thank you to everyone that helped me out, I had no idea there would be so much out there!!
