FIREFLYR 0 #1 May 3, 2005 Yo! I'm thinking about arriving in Twin Falls on 5/26 and departing the 31st. When will you be there? ~J"One flew East, and one flew West..............one flew over the cuckoo's nest" "There's absolutely no excuse for the way I'm about to act"
TomAiello 25 #2 May 3, 2005 Everyone realizes that Memorial Day is pretty much the worst wind condtions of the year here, right? Last year we had 5 ambulance rides Memorial Day, because everyone had to come to Twin at the worst time of the year...sigh.-- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com

KMonster 0 #4 May 3, 2005 Tom, you crack me up everytime people start talking about the memorial day boogie. Nobody seems to listen that it's the worst time to go, and hey, up until a little while ago Chad and I were planning on going too. Sadly, the work schedules won't allow it this year (tell Cheri we're bummed out about it), but we'll be there Labor Day and definitely some time in betweenKatie. DexterBase 0 #7 May 3, 2005 Very strong gusts. I hereby move to change the big BASE boogie to Labor day weekend. Anyone?
hollyhjb 0 #8 May 3, 2005 I'll be there...then again I'm always there. Tom's right about the conditions here that weekend. It's always so crazy in the spring. Wind is bad and unpredictable because of the random weather patterns that hit around that time. It's gusty and changing direction every other minute."I reject your reality and substitute my own" ~Adam Savage
FIREFLYR 0 #9 May 3, 2005 Last Mem day week I did my first 18 jumps, the weather was sometimes perfect sometimes sketchy and sometimes downright nasty...I plan on celebrating a BASE birthday no matter what~J"One flew East, and one flew West..............one flew over the cuckoo's nest" "There's absolutely no excuse for the way I'm about to act"

As for the winds it looks like night jumps can you jump the bridge at night? might have to look up if the moon will be out... Yes. The standard rules (i.e. call the sheriff before jumping begins, etc.) apply. In general, the lights on the bridge illuminate the landing area fairly well, as long as you don't go too low (too close to the bridge and you are landing in the shadow of the bridge itself, so the lighting is much worse). If it's your first night jump here, definitely do a short delay and go for the upper landing area. Ease into anything more over the course of several jumps.-- Tom Aiello [email protected] SnakeRiverBASE.com
 DexterBase 0 #21 May 3, 2005 I agree with Tom. There is enough ambient light from the shopping center and the bridge lights to illuminate the large landing area every night. If there's a full moon, then it's much nicer, but generally, you can jump even if there's no moon out. If you're very familiar with the landing area you can land on the beach but I almost always land in the large landing area for night jumps. If you want to do it super cruisy style, you can have someone hike in from the park with a light and you'll have all the light you need.
