Sounds like an interesting wingloading for base. Is that your weight with gear and clothing included?

Edited to add that I am referring to the Ace 220. Do you still use this canopy, and if so, in what conditions (more wind, bigger landing areas, terminal vs. non-terminal)?

Thanks,

Most of my jumps with that canopy have been off of terminal towers in moderate wind conditions. So that wingloading is good for having a bit of extra forward drive.

At the time that I purchased it, I weighed just a *tad* less, so I've since outgrown it a touch. :$

In fact, the thing I've had to get used to is the dramatic difference in drive between the 220 and the 266... especially since the Rock Dragon has been designed to have even less forward drive than comparable canopies.

I like them both and I think they are both fine in their respective environments (the 220 for moderate/high wind terminal As, the 266 for short delays).

What is your favorite quote? ...I'm sure when he (god) looks down on us BASE jumpers, he gives Mary the elbow and says proudly, "look at that, the thing I made them the most afraid of, they went and turned into a sport . . .!" -nickdg
What is your philosophy on life? Knowing that I could be happy all by myself in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of a city surrounded by millions. Just be yourself no matter what others do or say. Which means that, Yes, I am a self-proclaimed dork/geek.
What is something most people don’t know about you? #1 I believe in god, though I don’t go to church as much as I should. #2 Most don’t know what NCBMSF3Cutaway#1 means. For that and the many other lessons I have learned (and continue to), I am forever indebted. #2 I am really proud of Russell.
What is your most memorable BASE jumping moment? Seeing that I just started on February 29th (Yes that’s my BASE b-day) I would have to say Bridge Day 2004, but that could change as time goes on.

Jase “Skinflicka” Robinson
Age: 34
Height and weight: 5’9", 160-215 lbs depending on injuries and time of year. Currently 195 and falling.
Birthplace: Biohazard dumpster behind Darlington Memorial Hospital in England.
Marital status: Married to my wife. 15 year old stepdaughter who acts just like I do.
Occupation: Mechanical Engineer, philanthropist, bon viveur.
Hobbies: Pornography, BASE jumping, motorcycles, cars, redneck stuff, imitating peoples annoying accents, crank calling, breaching security, being walked by my pitbull, Diesel, Ice Hockey, Hold ‘em, fixing up my house, irritating those in positions of arbitrary authority. Involving myself in long, eloquent tirades that result in many people becoming very upset at me. It's sadly the only true talent that I have.
Harness and container: Perigee II by the venerable Adam Filipino, Odyssey FX by someone who can’t tell the difference between red and purple embroidery. Not a bad rig though.
Parachute: Black Jack 280, Mojo 280 Consolidated Rigging.
Home dropzone: I don’t skydive. I don’t look good in pink and the girls are mean to me. If I wanted to hold hands with other men I’d move to San Francisco.
Records or awards: I have been awarded a solid criminal record.
Pet peeves: People who ask what you did this week and you tell them and they’re like “nuh huh…you didn’t do that…you’re a bullshitter” and you’re like “yuh huh, I did you piece of shit” and then you have to go and kill his kid's pet rabbit in retaliation.
People who say “Why can’t I get a job like that” and I go “cuz you’re too fucking dumb, dickhead. Why didn’t you work harder at school? What the fuck did you think I was doing while you sat sniffing solvent behind the bike shed, you freak!”
People who wait for life to happen to them and then complain when they get tetanus or diphtheria.
Rank Twat.
Favorite moments Lassoing the faucet with your cock while asking the black guy at the next urinal about racial stereotypes.
What is your favorite quote? “Rings don’t plug holes”…Jimmy Kensill
What is your philosophy on life? Laugh it up. It won’t last long, muthafukka.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I’m arachnaphobic. I’m zoologically well hung. I’ve probably slept with someone you know.
Who has inspired you in BASE jumping? Jimmy Kensill, Justin McClellan, Skypunk, Mike McCurdy, Mark Meadows, Steve Redinbo, Joe Hallacey. Tom Aiello for being the anti-Skin, Dwain, Yuri, Sean and Craig for starting the whole thing off, Mick Knutson for teaching me the lost art of LZ grooming. Jimmy Pouchert and Hank Caylor for proving even the geeks can get a hot chick. John Woody for being passionate about fishing and BASE jumping at the same time. Gardner and Earl, John Vincent for making black hair hip again, Rick & Joy, Nick DG for unparalleled wisdom, Motherhucka (unrelenting hardcore renegade), Tree (for being made of wood), Hanne Skanky (probably spelled wrong) for being a genuine superhero for girls, and some bloke called Carl who I never got to meet but wish I had...There are many more. In fact, you all amaze me. Every time I meet you all I think "What a fucking nutcase!" and you keep coming, and you don't get any less wierd and you make me laugh like a kid and that's SO cool. Salut!
What is your most memorable BASE jumping moment? Landing on the Cincinnati Convention Center roof after some line twists robbed me of altitude on prom night. The screams of the kids in the street as I left the building. The screams of the mounted policemen who’s horses were spooked by the kids screaming. Being asked in the elevator if we were the band by some fuckwit (even though we were wearing parachutes). Jumping down 25 feet onto the concrete skyway and landing like fucking spiderman in front of a horrified security guard. Running like a bitch cos I didn’t want to get busted. Being picked up by Meadows' girlfriend like she was out grocery shopping.
Describe Skin in five words or less: What an asshole! Comic Relief.
I BASE jump because It's subversive, annoying to the authoritariat, outrageous, dangerous, and impressive to the chicks I used to show the video to which gave me an excuse to have a video camera in the room. Age: 38
Height and weight: 175lb 5'10lb
Birthplace: Mother England but escaped to the colonies when I was 2
Marital status: hook, line and sinker.
Occupation: Pharma industry marketing
Hobbies: B.A.S.E., scuba, surfing, reading (like 20hrs a week, mainly classical history).
Harness and container: Vertex
Parachute: Fox 240
Home dropzone: any foreign country but NZ.
Records or awards: Med Research Council award for junior scientist 1988
Pet peeves: violence, unco-ordinated drivers, queuing, salt in my food and trendy lefty liberals who think you can rehabilitate criminals (shoot the f*ckers I say)! Religious Zealots of all persuasions.
What is your favorite quote? ...The only time you should look down on someone is when you are giving them a hand up (Martin Luther King or Ali-I forget). or "They asked for it" Julius Caesar after looking at the carnage following Pharsalus during Roman Civil war.
What is your philosophy on life? The clocks always ticking, you have to cram all the experiences in whilst you still draw breath.
What is something most people don’t know about you? The Drs thought I was retarded when I was born. My mother thinks they are still correct.
Who has inspired you in BASE-jumping? Easy. Saw an old documentary when I was about 16 that was called the 'Human Fly.' I think it featured an Aussie called Nick F. Even though it wasn't until 1989 when I did my first base jump, that was the catalyst (the 2nd was 11 yrs later)
What is your most memorable BASE jumping moment? Easy-there's 3 of them. (1)Wingsuit from Eiger carring ashes of a deceased base'r, (2)standing on top of a building in Auckland, hucking only to land next to the police and ambulance crew who had been attending a fight between 2 large homies. I landed in the middle of it all and started to walk away...heh, heh. (3) Xmas eve-up a tall object in AZ with some friends in the freezing cold. Xmas has a new meaning
Describe Neil in five (+1) words or less: Skinny legs, can't sing.
I BASE jump because… Its unconventional and gets me out of the house (and country..)

Adam Foster
Age:22
Height and weight:6'0, 190 lbs
Birthplace:Englewood, Colorado
Marital status:I have three rigs I am very fond of... but single
Occupation:Courier (downtown ;))
Hobbies:BASE, skydiving, umm...
Harness and container:Two Warlocks by the company previously known as Vertigo
Parachute:Dagger 277, Rock Dragon 303
Home Dropzone:Have to say Mile Hi
Records or Awards:First person to succesfully execute a "steamroller" (to MY knowledge) B|
Pet peeves:Well, appropriately, every ASS who told me six times over the last week that I need to vote, and how I need to vote, and where I need to vote, and who I should vote for, and what I should vote for, and why I should vote for them, and why I should vote for that... seriously. People who take all of this WAY too seriously (life I mean).
What is your favorite quote?"Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it."
What is your philosophy on life?I think we are way to simple to understand something as complex as life and death.
What is something most people don't know about you?How I really feel a lot of the time.
Who has inspired you in BASE?That's hard because of the amount of people, and some of you probably would have no idea why but... Rick H., Dwain W., Jimmy P., Marta, Peter, Jamie, Ray P., Katie, Chad, Vlady, Tom A., Russell, Aaron (from B.C.), Bob S., Dan G., Tim M., Miles D., all of the videos I watched (Standard Issue, Continuum, 1st BASE, BASE Forever, it goes on), and of course, last but certainly not least, all of the girls who made me despondant enough to need to try something new, just to clear my mind.
Most memorabe BASE jumping moment:I was doing a four way at the potato, one person going from the "dark side". I did a gainer in the middle of two friends. I looked over as I was coming around to see my friends chute coming out of her pack tray and stretching. I pitched and looked up at my sniveling canopy (slider up) and saw above me my friends canopies filling the gap where I would have been. I don't know why, but it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. I realized on that jump that I enjoyed seeing my friends there with me in that perfect place, sharing the experience, way more than I enjoyed pounding out solo's trying to add another rotation. Thanks guys, I won't likely forget that one.
Describe Adam Foster in five words or less:Trying to figure it out.
I BASE jump because...Initially I have no idea. It has become this amazing thing that plagues (in a good way) my dreams and constantly runs through my mind. I can't seem to justify "It's fun" due to the trade off of death though. So what I think it has really become is this: I have never been more scared of anything than I am at a lot of exit points, except when it comes to death. Death scares me more, and I think by standing face to face with what I fear most (in BASE), it will assist me to face anything, even death.

Pet peeves: Not BASE jumping for oneself… And whacking off too much ;)
What is your favorite quote? "Don’t be afraid of dying… Be afraid of not living…” – Author Unknown
What is your philosophy on life? My philosophy is to be kind as often as possible… You’d be surprised how often the simplest kind gesture can affect a stranger’s or a close friend’s life… I know this, because I have many friends and strangers to thank for the times that they turned around my day with a simple king gesture…
What is something most people don’t know about you? My middle name is Wooly… Hung-Like-A-Wooly-Mammoth that is… For my male anatomy… Juuuuuust Kidding... I'm actually hung like a fruit bat... :D

Hmmn… Something that most people don’t know about me… Hmmn… The first job that I applied for, straight out of the Marine Corps, was to be a flight attendant for SW Airlines… If you’ve got the time, I’ve got some pretty funny stories about that interview :D
Who has inspired you in BASE jumping? Me… You’ve got to cherish your own accomplishments as much as your failures… Without letting it get to your head of course :)What is your most memorable BASE jumping moment? Sitting on the 5th floor of a building, after a building strike and in the most pain I have ever experienced, going “WOW, I don’t regret that jump, I must really love BASE jumping…” And then of course going, “this pain sucks”, while sitting in my jail cell, after getting arrested for jumping another building the next day…

I BASE jump because…
When I'm standing at exit point, doing my exit count, I feel more connected to world around me than any other time in my life...

Once I step off and exit from the physical object that is connecting me to this earth, I feel freer in that moment than any other time in my life... Freedom from the world of bullshit we put up with every day... Freedom from mankind’s laws... Freedom from narrow minds… Freedom from mankind’s wars... Freedom from everyday worries... Just pure freedom from anything and everything…

So all in all, on every jump, I jump to be free…

Is that longest in time or distance? And who was the man holding it? It's dark and lonely in that closet, surely. Come on out...Will & Grace is on TV and there's some Creme de Menthe in the kitchen.

Erections lasting over 4 hours, though rare, require immediate medical assistance...naughty monkey.

Prizes to anyone who gets to read my posts before Mr Aiello's son, Tom deletes them.
