Can you post the text of the article here? The link to the website asks us to register and I'd prefer not to go down that route just to read some article.

R.I.P. for the jumper involved. [:/]

Freefall (including wingsuit) impact with anything, including a rock talus, is not a survivable scenario. It would be instantaneous.

Man dies attempting 'base jump' off Wash. cliff

09:42 AM PDT on Tuesday, July 6, 2004

From KING Staff

INDEX, Wash. - A search team on Tuesday recovered the body of a base jumper who fell more than 1,000 feet from a cliff in Snohomish County.

The identity of the 33-year-old victim was not released.

Monday night's search near Index was called off because of darkness.

The remote area in the Cascade foothills about 30 miles northeast of Seattle had made recovery by foot difficult.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said one person successfully based-jumped off a cliff early in the evening.

A second jumper didn't make it.

"He fell approximately 1,000 feet. Parachute did not deploy and he impacted down into the talus on the mountain," said Danny Whikstrom of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

Three survivors hiked out and called police.

Really sucks. I've met some cats from the Seattle crew at SDO and DW's memorial. Very cool people.

When the info becomes available -- bad exit?

PM sent.

Details will follow once we're certain the family has been notified.

For now I'd just like to say that the search and rescue guys were excellent.
What a shitty way to meet such a great group of people. :(

We're sending positive energy and good thoughts from up North. It's a terrible thing, and words don't make it better.
