Did my static line course here. The instruction is absolutely fantastic, very student-oriented. They make sure their students become good and safe skydivers. Unfortunately the student program is closing down due to lack of landing area, but it was great while it lasted.

Awesome friendly atmosphere, people will jump with you regardless of how much you suck at RW, and will help you out with whatever skills you need. Lots of fun is to be had here, high pulls, tracking dives, CReW, whatever you want (minus wingsuits).

Caravan full? no problem, there's almost always space on the fun-82 which will go up with as little as 2 people.

Rental gear is brand-spanking-new, and seems that they like to keep it that way.

Staff is always super helpful.

This is the one and only DZ I can call home.
Can't wait to get my C and be back for more.

I came from Canada and did a few jumps here. Nice place, good people, professional, and polite. I really had no complaints until I landed in the designated field for B License <200 jumps area. It is a busy airfield so I can understand the need for it; however, if you are looking to turn quick loads it is very difficult as you have to wait for the bus to come. If there are loads behind you, you may also have to wait for them as well. Make sure you have a C license if you plan on making lots of loads.

UPDATED Jun 18, 2015

- tandem factory (130+ tandems/day out of a single caravan)
- strictly no wingsuits or tracking jumps
- strict canopy size policy (and it's ridiculous, e.g. if you don't do at least 50 jumps per year you cannot fly anything smaller than 150 sq ft, even at WL 0.8, no matter your experience level)
- smallish LZ, C & D license only DZ (after October 2015)
- no AFF
- DZO makes up his own illogical rules (like different "safety" requirements for different people)
- full of drama and politics (though if you're just a visiting jumper, you likely will not be exposed to it much, and the DZO may even seem like a nice person)

Warning to all CSPA members. Apparently the new code is you can't jump in the US without at least a temp USPA license ($65). ..This is what Slohomish explained after we went through 6 page double sided waiver, someone going through my container with a fine tooth comb (surprised he didn't make me unpack it). Said my rigger who packs my reserve has to be FAA certified (American), waiting around for a load to be put together...total 2 hours to jump one jump and not get to... We told every person we came across we were Canadian. I was gearing up and dirt diving when I was finally pulled aside and explained. That you have to have a temp USPA license ($65). This should have been mentioned by the girls at the front desk as soon as we mentioned we were from Canada... We could have jumped in Abbotsford instead...we did not get to jump due to time limitations after waiting for 2 hours....

I am half way done getting my A license and it is great. Instructors are great, all the student gear is pretty new and I like the overall vice of the place.

As a relatively experienced jumper that has jumped at numerous DZ's throughout the continental US this has been one of the best jump experiences I have ever had.

The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming! Tyson does a great job of balancing a business while keeping it laid back and fun. The manifest and office girls do an amazing job of making you feel welcome and making sure you have anything you need.

I marked middle of the road for aircraft... They have two really nice Caravan's, but can only take up 10-12 at a time. On the flip side, there is plenty of room to stretch out on the way to altitude.

As far as landing area, I did not land at the alternate landing area. But, the main landing area is nice and lush green grass. Just watch out for airport traffic, and it's a little tight. This is why they need two landing areas, and I think it is a great idea!

As far as load organizing and dz regulars; I showed up knowing no one, and can't wait to go back! Dave helped me out by showing me around, and his wonderful wife Deb got me in my first ever RW "competition". It was a blast, and can't believe at 1,300+ jumps I hadn't done one before. Luckily Linny and Christy were coaching me along and showing me the ropes of RW.

Scenery... You WILL not find a more beautiful scenic DZ in the country! At altitude we could easily see Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, and Mt. St. Helens. Not to mention the rest of the Cascades and Snohomish river below. Absolutely breathtaking!

Overall this is an awesome medium size dz, with most the perks of a big dz, and all the perks of a small dz!

I can't wait to get back there and jump!!!

Blue Skies,
Johnny Gunn

Was in Seattle for vacation over Christmas and New Years, only got to make it up there once but everyone was welcoming and friendly. Filled out paperwork, they grabbed an instructor to give me a briefing on the alternate landing area (seperate landing areas for different experience levels) and introduced me to another belly flyer, they even lent me a jumpsuit. The views were incredible and I was very happy to be there. Definitely will be going back!

I'm a student currently working on my Level A. I love the vibe and energy of Skydive Snohomish. I love that they are strict about rules, I like that they do numerous gear and safety checks, and I like that there are so many fields to land in if you can't make the east field (1 mile from the airport). They've been around since the 1950s and run an efficient and friendly operation.

The time I have spent at Skydive Snohomish has always been amazing. I look forward to going there every chance I get. Tyson and the staff are very helpful and willing to work with you any chance they get. No question goes unanswered. They made the experiance that much more awesome by their energetic attitudes. I can't wait until the weather gets better so I can be there all the time!

I had roughly 37 military and 3 civilian jumps when I showed up at snohomish. I was treated like I was an inconvenience to the staff when asking questions. It was even said that they don't know if they can trust me jumping, even though I had an A license. Needless to say I didn't jump, and that's why Kapowsin is getting my money pretty often. Out of the 5 or so DZ's I've been to, this one was the worst.

I am military Halo qualified. I did not have an A license when I went in to the dz. I did have 51 jumps on my logbook, 4 night jumps, water training, numerous jumps with over 60 lbs of equipment, rifle, and oxygen. Tyson said I would have to go through a program designed by him (to get more money out of me) to get my A license signed off. His program consisted of like 4-5 coaching jumps. That is BS. I went to Kapowsin and got my stuff signed off and was jumping the next lift solo with my friend. Also when I walked in it seemed like the Misfit Island from Rudolph. I think I even saw a train with square wheels on its caboose.

Great location but the DZO is so focused on sucking money out of tandems and students that he neglects experienced jumpers and does a lot of questionable things. He will demand more jumps for a requal than USPA requires. He has been known to tell people they "should" make repeated tandem jumps before they start a student license, and in general has an "opportunistic" attitude toward taking money from customers. I left my reserve for a repack and a week later (with no call it was right in the back of the room where I left it !) The excuse was the rigger was sick but I specifically said I needed it for an upcoming boogie and was assured it would be OK. No call, no help, no remorse. I would never buy gear or spend money here. The DZO - Tyson - is not honest.

I have straggled my way through several different student programs on my way to getting an A license. In the process, I've participated in student programs in 4 different DZs. When I first came to Snohomish, I was discouraged to find out they did static line progression instead of AFF.

After doing a few jumps though, I have to say this program is the best I've participated in. The difference is that they pay attention to the students progress. They give you real experience spotting, and you don't have to beg to learn to pack.

In my experience, a lot of DZs make you beg for personal attention. Not here. They really focus on you're progression, and they are very organized. I highly recommend this DZ to any student skydiver.

We are moving up that way and jumping at local dropzones was part of the scouting trip we just made.

They were busy with tandems and students but they sent an 18 place Caravan up with just six of us to keep the flow going.

The DZO, Tyson, made a point of welcoming us as we did the paper work, and his wife, Elaine, was great on the manifest microphone, herding cats with gentle persuasion.

A couple people have mentioned the lack of experienced jumpers, but raising a few crops of students up to be experienced jumpers is a fun thing to do, so if it's true I see that as an advantage.

I'm looking forward to jumping there.

Well, coming from Colorado where I thought we had a lock on great scenery, was I suprised! Both Mt. Baker and Rainer like ice cream cones in the sky, beautiful ocean views, Pugent Sound, etc. were more than impressive. The DZ is mostly outside and very friendly, and I was warmly welcomed by the owners, Tyson and Elaine. The DZ alternates tandem loads with fun jumpers, and we went on a load with only 6 fun jumpers in an 18-seater Grand Caravan!! Wow was that a fast ride to altitude!

Needless to say, I will return. Thank you Skydive Snohomish for a lovely day in the sky!

This place is fairly new as far as Northwest dropzones go.The airport is off limits for landing unless you hold a D-license.Without the D-license you have to land down the road.

I would recommend this dropzone with all my heart. I took my A license there, and the instructors (all of them) were very precise and careful. DZ put a lot of effort in students and security. They have many several planes, and a caravan in the summer, making it easy to jump. The DZ is private though. Having said that, they prefer tandems and you are often pushed in que, specially in weekends.
Overall - good place to jump, and excellent place to learn to skydive, specially from educational perspective and security.

I got my first rig together and dropped them off at the DZ to get packed. Besides packing the reserve they also installed slinks on the main. The problem was that the put the bumpers on upside down. I am not sure how you can do this because there is drawings that come with the slinks. So I pointed this out and I was told that a rigger would fix it ASAP and at not charge. Finally after waiting for them to call me for 3 WEEKS, I call the DZ back and they say the rig is ready. So I drive almost 2 hrs. to get to the DZ to find that absolutley nothing has been done to my rig. WTF.
#1 If slinks can not be installed the right way how good is the pack job on my reserve?
#2 I lost almost a full month of my reserve pack time that I could have been jumping?
#3 And since I don't trust their riggers anymore I will have the reserve repacked by someone else...I can read a drawing so I will fix the slinks that I paid to be installed correctly.

So the moral of my story is that I will never again return to this DZ. Too many cliques and you get pushed for tandems even after you have been manifested(I could write a whole different review on that). I will happily drive farther to another DZ or up to Vancouver, B.C. to jump any day.

What a great DZ!! I just got back from a weekend there and had a great time. I'm from the UK and didn't know anyone there (except from dropzone.com) but everyone was really friendly and made me feel really welcome. I didn't get to jump the caravan as it stayed cloudy for most of the time but did a couple of cessna lifts. Thankls guys! :-)

The crowd at Snohomish is a great bunch of people. The DZO is safety focused but also wants everyone to have a good time. Tyson, thanks for letting me jump your rig.

Thanks again to the crew I did my first four way with.

Skydive Snohomish has to be the best spot to dive in Washington, first off the staff are amazing, they are there to assist all of your needs, from helping pack to the exit at 13000. Luke, Tyson and mike have been there forever and know exactly what a student needs. The aircraft are made for jumping and the facility is big enough for several groups to gather and all pack at once. The surrounding amenities, like the onsite restaurant and gas stations locally make the DZ perfect. I highly recommend Skydive Snohomish for Anyone who is looking to jump.
