What my husband planned as a surprise birthday gift started out well but turned out to be a bad experience at Skydive Spaceland Dallas. It was really unfortunate experience and with Their no refund policy they could really careless about the customer experience. We arrive at noon and Was greeted with smiling faces and great exchangs. We were escorted to the back to watched the training video. At 1230 we were instructed to wait for our names to appear on the screen and it would be our turn to jump. The winds were high and so there was a delays in times. Which we understood. We had no issues with waiting for the winds to calm down. We rather be safe, so that was not the issue. We watched as a large group of 8-10 people come in after us. A group of 4 came in and a group of 3. Once the winds were calm, the jumps that were scheduled ahead of us started back. We watched as the group of 4 that came after us experience their jump and we continued to patiently wait. When i asked about out space. I was informed by two different individuals that were were in group 9. We sat down and continued to wait. We were shocked and disappointed to look at the display screen and see that the large group were in group 8 and were now going before us. My husband went and asked about the reason for us being skipped again. He was told that due to his size and structure he could only jump with a certain instructor “Brandon”. How discouraging it was to see that we were now moved to a later jump group 10 and Brandon was jumping with the larger group in group 8 that arrived after us. When we went to discuss our frustration because we had overheard the larger group saying they had plans and needed to be done. We were skipped for their convenience. No communication or apology from the staff at Skydive Spaceland Dallas. We also had plans considering we are celebrating my birthday. But no one seem concerned about the inconvenience this caused us. We drove and hour and half to sit and wait patiently He paid $1000 and the only experience we got was being ignored and disregard. But they do not care they have our money.

October 20th of 2020 was a very important milestone and birthday for a dear family friend of mine, who has wished for his 70th birthday to go skydive and as of yesterday, thanks to the incredible people here at Skydive Spaceland, not only did his wish come true - I achieved a dream that I had long forgotten about.

The years are what you make of them, as the saying goes but especially in a hard year it can be easy to forget that celebrations are out there, good experencies and genuine people are out there that are energetic and want to share life with you too.

The positivity here blows my mind still and I've waited since the jump to make sure I can review without this being an adrenaline-rushed review. Having said that, I'm still greatly impacted by the amount of professionalism, the absolute joy that came from everyone there and also - how everyone who was there yesterday was treated individually and was able to ask and share candidly so that however their own wishes and dreams for skydiving came about, that their needs were met in style.

I cannot praise this place enough and the people who help not only educate past the general information, but really leave encouragement and an impact on you. Turning moments like these into a bliss that is indescribable.

I realize this isn't listing specifics but everyone followed health codes for this year and were an absolute joy to be around. I left there feeling empowered for my personal experience and cannot wait to be in the air again.

I'm certain my friend wants this to be a tradition and if anyone is reading this, is nervous or experienced, whatever your reasons are I really hope you will consider going here if you wish to skydive.

Their ability to educate as well as encourage everyone was - well - still is really - quite inspiring! Two individuals who were so nervous beforehand came up to my friend and I afterwards and there was just this simply but pure joy and confidence radiating from them especially.

I apologize for a long review but experiences that are worth your while, and the people who make them incredible, I feel it is important to share those experiences. Especially on the off chance someone is considering skydiving and found this location and page.

I recommend Skydive Spaceland Dallas not only for location and experience and what you walk away with but I recommend them if you also want to meet some incredible people on your own adventure and journey.

4.29.2019 was my first jump ever.  I knew Skydive Spaceland Dallas was a school, but I was not expecting them to treat my time skydiving like my first day of class, giving me my own record book.  What a Delightful surprise! And I am so utterly Happy they do that!  Vibe-5 stars: everyone is chill, personable and full of light. Aircraft-5 stars: caravan, safe as can be, and thanks for putting that in my book Brandon! Facilities-5 stars: calm, inviting, relaxed, Safe. Location-5 stars: in the beautiful country side, hells yeah! Professional-5 stars: I don't need nor want to go anywhere else ever because the entire staff is legit from office check-in to following procedures and protocols, all visible by how everyone works and flows together.  Services-5 stars: hats off to everything about  Skydive Spaceland Dallas and everything they offer!  Y'all rock my world!!

Just jumped Today 08/19/17. Had a great experience. The staff was very friendly but also took jobs seriously. Id recommend anyone interested in skydiving to check them out. My skydiving partner/instructor TB was amazing I felt he went above and beyond. Id recommend him as your tandem dive instructor. When I continue the process to get my license Id want him there every step of the way. Thanks again TB and SkyDive Spaceland Dallas!

Jumped there a few times in Spring of 2017. The facility is very nice with full service and constantly turning at least 2 planes on a busy day. Staff was very accommodating and professional.

The location is a bit far and at the end of a bumpy dirt road (about 60 miles NE of Dallas / Fort Worth). When busy, I waited almost 4 hours to get on a load a couple times (I'm a licensed skydiver with almost 700 jumps at the time).

Jump altitude was never above 11,000 feet. At 10,500' I was confused on why everyone was exiting (I thought a group was exiting lower) and literally "yelled" at to "get the F*** out of the plane". Not sure why no one got "standard" 13,500' on any load.

Other than that, the place was overall a good experience with large landing areas and friendly to up-jumpers and students / tandems.

Had such a great time! Camped out for two nights and jumped two days. Everyone was super cool and fun. Ended up doing group jumps with ppl I've never met before because this place is not at all about cliques. The packing room is A/C and fun! There is a PlayStation 4 in there ... Awesome!

My wife did a skydive in Fort Worth last year. We never got the DVD as we had agreed to. Right before Christmas a woman called and said they had found the footage and the DVD would be there in a couple of days. No DVD. I've been emailing back and forth and they have poromised at least three times to ship it to me. The last email Ben said he was taking to the psot office himself. Still no DVD. I say buyer beware. This group does not live up to their promises.

After being away from the sport for 20+ years, I took the AFF course.

Everything was top rate. The class was skillfully, and competently taught.

I paid the extra money for a cameraman to record this. Before loading up, I asked him, begged him several times to NOT add music. "Just the wind…"

He looked at me like I was crazy.

Well guess what? I get home and review the video. The loud, obnoxious, "Porn Flick" music blares away. This was my only letdown. When I called to inquire about this, I was told that the raw video is gone. (Hello Lois Lerner…)

This person doesn't understand the rule of business that states "The customer is ALWAYS right!"

Now, can I figure out how to remove the music track without removing the wind?

Four stars where a solid five would have been easily given.

Don't listen to all the negative reviews about the DZ. Initially I was scared after reading them. But once I started my AFF, I gained confidence on them. Skydive Dallas has one of the best instructors! You can feel the vibe once you step the foot in there. If you need strong education and knowledge on skydiving this is the place to come. Hang out with the instructors at the DZ to learn more and more. They are willing to spend hours of time with you. Over all for me its a great experience. All other students in my AFF batch love skydive Dallas too.

The atmosphere is full of smiles and joy! Everyone loves everyone out there. Staff, and fun jumpers alike will come up to u gear check you make sure ur safe. They will also tell u if ur being unsafe, they are looking out for you and the others in the sky with you! The staff even picks u up in a golf cart if u land sort of far away they always make sure ur gear is in good condition as well as They will find your lost canopy and free bag if u had a chop! Also they ENFORCE the beer rules, so there is always beer in the fridge and
one can buy beer 2.6miles away, also there is a bar right up the street called the "loft,"and guess who runs it? Skydivers! All in all skydive Dallas is an awesome, laid back environment, and when they see a fresh jumper they immediately want to make you feel at home! If there is a staff member around who is not currently working he will make an effort to jump with you or get you organized in a group! But the beer is the best part, the after hours debauchery is a blast every time!

After reading all the great reviews I had to visit myself. Skydive Dallas has awesome facilities and aircraft. The staff were courteous, professional, and very safety conscious. I will be spending every other weekend there.

I jumped at Skydive Dallas while visiting Ft. Worth last weekend. This place is amazing. The facilities are some of the best I've seen. Their plane is gorgeous and you get consistently good altitude (13.5k). The staff was helpful and friendly and I met several outgoing local fun jumpers. The landing area is wide open with plenty of outs; separate areas for hi-pro landings, great C/D area, huge student area and a "transition" area for those who want to do their own thing. I even got a super tasty ham and cheese sandwich and yummy crispy tater tots at the cafe for lunch. It is a bit of a drive from the metroplex, particularly if you're coming from the Ft. Worth side, but I thought it was well worth it.

Skydive Dallas is a class DZ! I was welcomed as sky-family and felt at home right away. Lots of indoor room to pack, socialize, debrief, and prep for the next jump. 2 mock ups and easy to manifest.

Will go back for sure!.

I recently visited a number of DZ's of the past two weeks. After seeing how other Drop Zones are run I appreciate skydive dallas so much more. First off they foster a family environment, they care thats why they make suggestions regarding personal safety of everyone at the DZ. Every DZ let alone businesses concern is to make money but Skydive dallas provides top notch aircraft, service and gear for both fun jumpers and tandems. If they day is busy and loads are full they dedicate their otter for fun jumpers and a caravan for tandems. Most tandem factories only concern themselves with the tandems.

They have a cafe on site, showers, bunks and a trailer park. The staff lives on site so if there is a weather hold it's usually temporary and the staff is never far away.

There is no AC in the packing area but considering the amount of space they provide it would cost more than 25 per fun jump if they had AC for the packing area. So suck it up. Plenty of landing areas for all levels of canopy flight.

All and all its a great place to jump and is geared for all disciplines of skydiving. I love SKy Dive Dallas, in my mind its up there with Eloy, Perris and many other top Skydive facilities in the U.S

I've been to Skydive Dallas several times and I've yet to have a great experience like I get most anywhere else. I don't really know where to begin, so I guess I'll ramble for a bit.

I'll start with the good things...the aircraft are good, the landing areas are big (whenever you actually leave the ground), and the facilities are very nice and clean for a DZ in the middle of nowhere. Free wifi, multiple huge indoor packing areas (not climate controlled, though), pretty much the only restaurant within 15 miles in the lobby, and limited RV hookups, although I'm pretty sure they're all used by people that live on DZ.

Now, the bad...this is a very clique-ish DZ. If you didn't train with them, or you're visiting, good luck getting anyone to even acknowledge you, and I find myself to be a very outgoing person. The staff, with the exception of the packers (which are usually always the exception), don't care if you're there or not, unless you're a tandem or AFF student. They're completely inhospitable to visiting jumpers.

The weather is crappy a lot of the time. It may be clear skies, but the wind will be whipping 25+, or vice versa. I visit Dallas often, and 3/5 times I've been to Skydive Dallas, they've literally forbid me to jump because I was an outsider 'unfamiliar' with their DZ and it was 'too windy' for me, based solely on my 'unfamiliarity' with the area. News flash: it's not my first rodeo. I've got over 150 jumps and have visited at least a dozen different DZ's while on business/pleasure travel. So you drive an hour+ outside of Dallas, get geared up, ready to go, then some wiley guy comes and targets the visitor and tells you that you can't go because it's too windy. What a load of crap. It's happened to me on 3 separate visits, and I'm jumping my own gear, of course.

The location isn't very ideal for skydive tourists. It's literally out in the middle-of-nowhere, no hotels within 20 miles, no restaurants within at least 15 miles (except on the DZ), and the nearest gas station is 10 miles away. No bars or beer nearby either...so be sure and BYOB from Dallas if you plan to stay for the 'notorious nightlife'. There is a bunk room with 12 beds I think, but they tend to fill up pretty quickly on weekends.

The thing that bothers me the most about Skydive Dallas is how regimented and stiff everybody is. This isn't Eloy, DeLand, Perris, etc. Everything is so matter-of-fact and by the book, it's amazing anybody actually has fun there, unless of course you're a student forking over a pile of cash to them. I've never been to a more rigid DZ in my life. Then I found out the place is owned by a doctor...yahtzee.

I know after reading this long, primarily negative rant, you wonder why anyone would want to go here based on my review? Well, it's the only turbine DZ in the area, and closest by time. Any first timer thinks whatever DZ they jump at is the greatest DZ in the world, as is the case with many of the reviews I've read on here. Of course they'll hang the moon for the first timer...they want more of your cash. They make more money off the student then the cheap-ass licensed jumper like me. I think DZ reviews are very skewed in that aspect. So to the first timer, enjoy your jump, get licensed, have a long, prosperous career in skydiving, but PLEASE visit other DZ's and drink the Kool-Aid. Once you do, you'll know exactly why I have such disdain for this DZ, although it's the most viable option near Dallas.

I just took my first skydive! VERY friendly, experienced instructors. One of them had his 1000th dive of the year just prior to going up with my crew. The facility is very large, clean and organized. This is a great place to learn. I've already prepaid for my next dive. Thanks Skydive Dallas!!!

I was jumping by myself at SDD when a fun jumper asked me who I was jumping with and what I was doing... I told him I was just gonna jump by myself, working on my sit... he offered to jump with me... It was awesome, the jump was amazing and fun. The staff and facilities at Skydive Dallas are excellent, the planes are well maintained and their system for manifesting for jumps is amazing. All in all, I wish the dz were closer to my home, I would jump there all of the time. For now, I will jump there as often as I can.

They rent vector riggs with skyhook and fly 3 aircraft depending on the load size, 2 of which I've been on. The otter is deffinitely the best jump plane in their fleet, but that's not to knock the caravan. They are both spacious and provide a quick flight to 14,000'. Excellent pilots, instructors, packers and staff overall. The atmosphere is always fun and they have the best food you can ask for at a drop zone. They offer bunks for overnight stays free of charge. Overall you couldn't ask for anything more at a drop zone. I'm just a coupld jumps away from my class a license and couldn't have asked for a more accomidating place, with knowlegable instructors than skydive dallas. I have nothing but pros for the review except the drive, I drive about 2 hours to get there. That being said, I drive past plenty of other places I could go to get certified. I chose skydive dallas because I KNOW I'M GETTING THE BEST TRAINING probably state wide.
Thanks skydive dallas,
Ben Melton
P.S. If you're jumping tandem, know that Ernie will probably be on your back with almost 14,000 logged jumps. Ernie is the main instructor and although a little anal sometimes, you know he only wants safety & proper training for your benefit.

The staff is very knowledgeable and the instructors exude competence without arrogance.

The people at Skydive Dallas, staff and regulars alike, are very friendly.

The equipment seems, to my limited knowledge, to be very well maintained.

Very efficient, very professional, and very good at making students feel comfortable quickly.

For AFF, SDD was the best option for me geographically. Then I went there for the first jump course and knew it was the only option for me personally as well.

Friendly is the rule. Great people make it so. Five weeks of bad weather on the weekend, five trips waiting it out and three jumps later, and I find myself missing the people and the breakfast burrito there during my work week. I know almost nobody, but meet more every time and look forward to it. I am old and very new to the whole skydiving thing, and it scares the Hell out of me, but somehow I am very comfortable with the situation when there. Credit the staff for that. I feel welcome, and that is enough for me. Don't know why I like them, but I do.

It really is a great place to learn and spend the day.

I have been an AFF student up in Wisconsin. I was visiting family down in Dallas and decided to get in a jump or two while i was where it was warm for vacation. The crew at Skydive Dallas was very warm, friendly, professional and welcoming. they gave me a quick recurrency course and had me on a load as soon as the wind would allow. the Caravan was the best jump plane I have been in yet. Everyone was great and made this an experience i won't soon forget. A packer even took her time to give me some personal tips and experience which was a little difference from back home and helped give me a different view and perspective on things. I will definitely be going back whenever i am in the Dallas area.

Well I have been jumping at this DZ for 2 years now and I just forgot to come here and post a review. If you are a first time skydiver and are planning to start off with a tandom, you will like this place, if you are an AFF student be prepared to be grounded because of winds but one you do get to jump the staff is great and very experienced. I consider this to be my home dz and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
