I learned to skydive at Skydive Dallas and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Every Instructor and Coach there that I worked with was both completely professional, but at the same time fun and friendly.
The DZ certainly has the vibe of being one great big family, but an extremely welcoming family. Jumpers there are more than willing to take newly licensed jumpers out for fun or to show them a thing or two. The friendliness continues after the sun goes down as well.
The aircraft selection is good, with a range of large, mid-size, and small aircraft to jump from. Showers, free bunk space, and the food are all fantastic.
My only regret is that I'm no longer living close enough to jump there.

Every time I have been there I usually always get 8-11 jumps a day. They have a lot of experienced freeflyers and anyone will jump with you. They bring you right in. I wish I lived in Dallas.

This place was awesome. I've been there twice and plan on going many more times. While I was down there I was able to get on some really fun RW jumps with people who didn't mind helping someone with low numbers learn. They also had some wingsuit flyers as well so that was nice and there wasn't a shortage of FF on my two visits.

AWESOME DZ! The staff is great! Very professional, friendly, and always willing to answer questions or find someone who will. The riggers are fantastic.

Everyone who jumps there is wicked friendly. People are always willing to add one more to their freefly dive of big way. In house chef makes great food! Can't go wrong with with this place!

WOW. i can't believe how impressed i was after spending just a weekend there. everything from $10 lift tickets to full altitude if you manifest before 8 am, to the load organizers just blew my mind. i was there when the 36-way was working on turning multiple points, and you couldn't even tell that there were even that many people jumping there. there's always room to pack, a beautiful deck to watch jumpers land, great cooks, somebody smiling at you wanting to jump with you, and easy manifests that get you up quick. the planes usually take you up to 14,000 ft, too, so you can get about 70 seconds of freefall easy. and don't even get me started on the load organizers! that's basically free coaching! i honestly learned more in 8 jumps with Duck jumping with us than i had in 25 jumps before that. everyone there is SO friendly, like they've known you their whole life, and they WANT YOU THERE! go jump there, and you'll be as impressed as i was.

May be the friendlist DZ that I've ever visited. They got me with a group as soon as I finished the paper work. These guys were great, like I had jumped with them every weekend. The place was very clean, the bunk rooms were cleaner than most motels that I stay in and the same for the bathroom and showers. Don't go there unless you want to have a great time both day and night. The best home away from home that that I have visited.

I have been to several different dz's in my short one year of skydiving! Dallas is by far the best I have been to!! At a few of the other dz's I have been to if you didn't bring someone with you, you're going to be jumping alone. NOT so at SDD, they will all drag you on the plane to jump with their different groups! Awesome food, HUGE packing area and a place to sit and chill! Again HUGE landing area, great out (haven't personally tested them yet) all in all a GREAT place!

I guess everything is bigger and better in TX. My home drop zone is in Virginia, Skydive Orange. I flew to OKC for Christmas and thought I would check out Skydive Dallas during my visit. I must say, I am very, very impressed. The facilities are unbelievable. They have a huge packing area and I must say it is very well kept. They have a nice cafe with awesome food and the cook is a super cool guy. The landing area is enormous and free from obstacles. They have wonder planes and the staff/experienced jumpers are so friendly it's almost scary. I am a newly licensed jumper (only have 37 jumps) and the most experienced jumper on the DZ practically made me jump with them. Hell, as soon as I checked in, one of the staff members started introducing me to all of the belly flyers so I wouldn't have to jump alone. One of the experienced jumpers/AFF Instructors that asked me to jump, I think his name was Rick, had something like 15,000 jumps! He gave me a little coaching before we jumped and we planned on doing sequential accordians the entire time. I wasn't as optimistic as he was considering I only had 36 jumps. I am happy to say, thanks to his coaching, we turned 27 freaking points!!!

Even the riggers were very friendly and went out of their way to give you pointers. My canopy is F-111 and has a tendency to open hard. One of the riggers sat with me for 30 minutes showing me different tricks to slow the openings. While he was doing this, there were rigs laying all over the place waiting to be packed.

Needless to say, I had a great time at Skydive Dallas. I highly recommend this drop zone to anyone, even if you're not from the area. My only regret is that I live so far away. It's safe to say that I will visit SDD anytime I am back in OKC.

This is my home dz, and I just wanted to let everyone know you don't have to have a ton of money to be treated well here as a few reviews have stated. They need tandem money to keep it going, but when they get a chance, the staff is always willing to help you out. It's a larger dz, but the people here are family. You do need to have your logbook and stuff (duh!), but shouldn't you carry that anyway? C'mon over and jump and join us in some unknown celebration every weekend.

The DZ is a nice place. Nice layout, plenty of places to pack. Staff can be a bit rude, just trying to push people through for the $$$. Gear rental is expensive, and only for a rig... want glasses? Extra $$. Want a jump suit? extra $$$. What a tac? Extra $$. Come on give me one freak'in price already. Sad to say, it's the closest DZ to me. I wish I had another choice that was somewhat close.

If you have not jumped here before, it can be a little hard to find the DZ if your spotter is off. No landmarks except the road.

I know it's not their fault, but I have been 4 times, and have only got to actually jump once. Always seems to be too windy! What's up with that? Damn Texas weather.

I went there shortly off student status. And everyone there, instructors and just other jumpers were willing to jump with me. Everyone there was happy and upbeat.
They had a huge, nice, carpeted packing area. Nice otter and caravan.
The snack bar was all kinds of good, lots of positive things to be said about the food there. Good job Mike.
The landing area was nice, mowed, and very big. Lots of easy outs if you have a bad spot.

I remember when I first jumped at Skydive Dallas. I was a nervous wreck. But everyone was so friendly and helpful. After my first jump, I felt so much better and got hooked on SDD! Everytime I go, I go alone but still am able to make many awesome jumps with lots of talented jumpers. They are extremely safty concious so I know I am in good hands. I can't wait till my next weekend up there!!

I just finished AFF at SDD. The instructors were patient as saints and as friendly and helpful as can be. They and everyone else at the DZ made me feel right at home. I can’t say enough good things about the gang there and highly recommend it to anyone thinking about going, from a first tandem to experienced jumpers looking for a change of scenery.

As a novice & a student, I can't compare to any other dz, but I know they sure made me feel welcome and comfortable at SDD, and it's kept me going back, in addition to the thrill of jumping, of course. Everyone is friendly and interested in what you are accomplishing.......parties aren't bad either.

I have been to a few different DZ's, and have to say that Skydive Dallas has been the best one yet. I have been there the last 3 weekends in a row, and will keep coming back. All of the staff there is more than willing to answer any question you may have, or put aside what they are doing to help you. I give that place nothing but a big thumbs up!!

very friendly great atmosphere. This dropzone is one where you actually 'feel the love'. Very good freefly atmosphere with load organizers that ' actually jump with you'..imagine that.

It is in a dry county so bring your own beer.

One of my favorites and I've been to a dozen

This place is for the few wealthy guys that don't mind being ripped off. If you don't have $$$ the "Texas Hospitality" is a joke. I have been to many different DZ's and my experiences in Texas were among the bottom. It is a shame that they tarnish that beautiful sunshine with greed and a bunch of punk-assed staff stuggling with authority. If you do visit, take all documentation. Even though you are able to fly circles around everyone, your skills will still be questioned, EXTENSIVELY! I am all for safety, but back the F up and allow a new person room to breathe. I'll give them a 4 for the aircraft, piss on the rest.

I was introduced to SDD in June of 2000, when my wife decided to make a tandem jump for her 40th birthday... I called several area DZ's, but selected SDD based on the aircraft available and the extra altitude they provided...

The place was very easy to find, the facilities were all excellent, the staff was very friendly, and my wife had a great time!

So when I decided to start jumping again, I made SDD my home DZ. Since then, I've gotten to know a lot of the people there, and it's just a great mix of folks! The combination of great aircraft, first rate facilities, and wonderful people, make it a great place to jump!!!
