What can I say about Cross Keys?

Once you get over the fact that you have to go to Jersey it is really a great Dropzone.

The staff members were chill from the manifesters to the packers.

I found this a very friendly place to jump. As an experianced jumper introduced himself to me, and made it so me and my 27 jumps didn't have to jump alone.

The selection of Aircraft is better than a lot of dropzones. When I was there they had 2 Twin Otters, a Skyvan, a King Air, a biplane, and a Chopper.

The coverd boarding area was a huge pluss.

This DZ seemed very safety conscious. The instructors gave me plenty of information as to where the good outs were and also stated their safety rules very clearly.

I showed up as a visitor to jump. The people not just the staff were eager to help. I was rusty from a long lay-off. The office staff that was there the day I jumped was most helpful. Landing zone was good but tighter than I am used to. In case of bad spot look hard. The only bad thing I can say was it was really hot the day jumped there. If the temperature was in the 80's it may be the perfect place to jump.

I started at Seb this winter, but in an attempt to stick with familar coaches, went to finish AFF at Cross Keys. I saw only 2 familar faces. But when I graduated and celebrated that evening, I felt as though I had known everyone there for years. I have since gotten my "A" there as well, and started freefly coaching, and can't imagine calling anywhere else my "home" dz. Everyone is always willing to help you, offer advice without condescending, and just do everything they can to make you feel welcome, whether you have one jump or 300. Cross Keys is for me, and many of my friends, the happiest place on earth.

Fun DZ with what seems like all ranges of freeflyers and RW jumpers. Swoop pond is too big for me to make it all the way across, they do swoop training on tuesdays$10 hop n' pops. Everyone is friendly.

I visited Cross Keys on a Wednesday and had three great jumps out of their Skyvan. They have Great rental gear, a nice packing area, and nice folks at manifest. There was R/W Organization and I was able to get on a "Big Way" without anyone even knowing me. Even though the jump didnt quite come together it was way cool. I will definately go back to Cross Keys I enjoyed myself. 2 and a half hours from Washington, DC

I am a new jumper and just finished up my A license here at Cross Keys. I have been to a few other large Drop Zones in my short time as a jumper but found none of them to be as friendly and helpful and Cross Keys. The staff and fun jumpers have been equally helpful with tips for packing and offering me little tricks of the trade. The staff is super experienced so you know your getting the right information when you have a question. On the weekends the planes are back to back and they are super busy with tandems, but I still didn't have a problem getting up for jumps. They have a great selection of planes to choose from so it's nice to change it up a bit. The biggest plus is while you are waiting to go up you can challenge your game to a game of volley ball and then take a dip in the pool.... come on now this place should be called a resort! After the sun goes down there is beer for all, especially this past weekend since I seemed to owe beer for a number of things! I am hooked! Thanks to everyone there... it will now be a home away from home on the weekends!

I was on a business trip in NJ and drove the 90 miles from Newark to CrossKeys because of what I had heard. I was not disappointed! I got there early (8am) and the weather was great. I only had 30 jumps upon arrival and needed to do two more RW jumps for my "A" license. I was greeted by "Will" who lives on the dropzone and is one of the instructors. Will was really friendly and showed me around the DZ and even gave me some free advice and learning tips while I waited to jump. The only bummer is that it was a Friday and we had to wait for more jumpers to manifest before justifying an Otter ride. Didn't get to jump until almost noon. I also met Mark, the resident Master Rigger and I got a tour of the rigging loft and he even brewed me a cup of coffee and took the time to chat. I regularly jump at Perris Valley in CA and was immediately impressed at how much more friendly this dropzone was than my own! As a non-licensed visitor I was worried I would have problems, but I was treated great by all the staff and jumpers. There was lots of newer well kept rental gear in Square 3. The covered packing areas are clean and covered with carpet. "Lynn", one of the packers approached and was extremely nice too. Packing was quick. The huge landing area was beautiful green grass surrounded by trees. The swoop pond was amazing! Overall, the best part was the friendliness! Even in the plane Mark introduced me to everyone and I got a hearty welcome from all! There's also a couple of resident dogs and you may find a Jack Russell terrier chasing you across the grass as you land. I so hated to leave this place and next time I go, I am going to stay for a few days! In this short review I can't get across how awesome this place is. Thank you Cross Keys and you simply rock....

No, I did not start jumping at Cross Keys, I came upon it when I had about a hundred jumps, and it very quickly became home (I don't care that it's 1200 miles away at the moment, it's still home). I have traveled to a lot of other dz's, both large and small, and the more I travel, the more I love Cross Keys. It has all the trappings of a major dz - big aircraft, lots of people to jump with from beginners to world champions, and advanced coaching - but has a great personal vibe and very friendly staff and up jumpers. I never got the feeling it was an assembly line or tandem factory.

The DZO is awesome, and you can tell he's there to have fun too, not just to make money. To give just one example, he flew a bunch of fun jumpers, several tandems, and 3 planes up to Sussex on a weekday because TFRs over Philly were keeping us from jumping.

The fleet of aircraft is amazing. I guess it's rough when your winter plane is a Grand Caravan. Every day that I was there, if the weather was even halfway decent, a turbine was flying, and the loads were mostly fun jumpers (particularly on weekdays).

Yes, the landing area is surrounded by trees, but it is very big and easy to find. If you're going to land out, you need to make the decision fairly early. They will always send someone to pick you up.

To improve things, the weather could be a bit more reliable, the packing area a bit bigger, the cafe a bit more dependable, and they could add a few more showers. But even if they did all that, it wouldn't change what makes Cross Keys my home and favorite dz - the people.

PEOPLE ~ awesome vibe flowing constantly! these people Know How To Party... monkeyclaw Rocks* the chicks Rock* the pilots & DZO ROCK!! everyone is sweeter than sweet, they made me feel really welcome and appreciated.

Hangar ~ nice carpet, roomy and organized... and a little secret --> i preferred using the bathroom in the hangar* the bathroom outside of the hangar was a little "messy".

Aircrafts ~ the Best in the Business! john does an Extremely Awesome job of maintaining these planes & helicopters*

Landing Area ~ Huge!!! with a lovely pond and paved runway for an easy visual*

Cafe ~ served very delicious food and the employees were so nice & smiley :^)

Now I 100% understand why Crosskeys has been around for such a long time, just visit and you shall see for yourself!

From the moment I got there to the time I left, this DZ was nothing but friendly and full of good vibes.

The facilities are awesome... They have a large, clean, carpeted packing area. Big fast planes :-). I was there on a particularly busy weekend (100 ways going on) and they stayed very well organized. The landing area is nice, but depending on which way the winds are blowing, there can be some funky rotors from the big trees.

Other pros...
Square3
Cutaway Cafe
Monkey Claw
Did I mention the people?

Showers were less than perfect, but I see running water as a plus. ha!

I can't wait to go back.

I recently completed AFP, and am up to about 20 jumps at Cross Keys. This place is awsome. The staff go out of their way to be friendly and supportive. With the help of Kruse, Mark Norman, and Range, I completed AFP with no problem. As a novice skydiver I expected the experienced skydivers to be standoffish and snobby. I could not have been more wrong. Everyone is so friendly. I will be moving soon, and will miss the DZ terribly. I know that I will come back to NJ, just to visit the DZ. I am still waiting for that weather machine to be put in place at the DZ:)

Was there in May for 5 days, not one jump. The weather apparently sucks frequently until July and from October onwards. The Monkeyclaw Freefly Jam in May has been rained out for a few years in a row. I did make some good friends there and the Dropzone looks great. Lots of aircraft from Otters to biplanes to helicopters to Skyvan to Caravan.
Cool tenting area in the woods.
There is no bunkhouse or kitchen facilities on the Dropzone and the Cafe is unreliable in opening times.
The parties are pretty killer.
At the end of the day, it's the people that make a DZ awesome and Cross Keys has a lot of great people.

Skydive CrossKeys is fast paced and high energy. There is something there for everyone. They have low jump tickets (especially on Wednesdays). Free beer and pizza on Saturdays and fun every day. Too bad it always rains during the jams.

Having jumped at Crosskeys since they first started up in '94, I have to say it just gets better and better. With the recent addition of Glenn Bangs, President of the US Parachute Association, a fleet of large aircraft and an Alouette helicopter, combined with the best staff on the East coast, what more can you want? For the experienced skydiver, they offer all the amenities and props to go! go! go! I make new friends and jump partners every time I go. To those with an interest in entering the world of skydiving, you'll find you've never felt more welcome then in the company of the staff at Skydive Crosskeys. Figuratively, they will take you by the hand and put you through the skydive by self demonstration;you will master the elements of the dive through visualization, repetition, and interaction with your instructors. The moment you come out the plane and hit the sky, everything you were just taught will take over--and they'll be right there with you. Once you've landed, been debriefed and viewed your vid, that free beer at nightfall will be like a shot of elixir on top of a mountain of soaring confidence. What are you doing sitting here reading this? Jump!!

I began my Tandems at Cross Keys with entertaining yet saftey conscious instructors who initiated my new found addiction (Tthanks Spotty, Rob Stanley and Pancake). It didn't take long to graduate AFF in one day with an incrediblbly talented coach, Mark Kruse who instilled a further love of the sport, total awareness, and limitless confidence. I immediately started SkyDive U with Mollie (ps....SUPERSTAR). After completeing SkyDive U and an A license, I was offered slots in jumps that included nationally competitive skydivers. It was an incredible honor. The combination of training, debriefing, encouragement, and overall sense of friendship proved to be the keys to a safe, yet exhilarating introduction into the world of freefalling.
Cross Keys has all of the elements for a Drop Zone beyond compare. Knowledagble staff, organized events, great planes, and family like atmosphere. It is a great feeling to anticipate a sunny morning that can soon be filled with great flying and lots of smiles. Thanks, Cross Keys.

About 4 weeks ago I had a landing accident in which I had susstained a fracture and torn ligaments to my ankle. Kelly(A.F.F. instructor), Darren (Skydive U)and Kelly(Tandem manifest)came to my rescue immediately after I collided into the ground. The injury and accident was very unfortunate. However, the care that I received was bar none. They basically handled myself and my injury as if I were a shot president. They were just great. And if that weren't enough, Molly(Skydive U), Mary(Square 3 thanks for being so understanding Mary), Kelly(A.F.F Instructor)and Darren (Skydive U) called me at home just to see how I was doing.

They all just keep failing to disappoint me. I'm beginning to think if Crosskeys is really a Dropzone or if it's a dream world. Freefall Adventures, Skydive U and Square 3 are just too good to be true. I recommend that everyone should leave all their dropzones and start going to CrossKeys.

Keep up the excellent and impressive work guys!

Friendly environment doesn't even describe a 1/4 of the this DZ's qualities. Let's begin with the DZ crew. Clark, Joe Diaz, Kelly, Molly, Darren, Gio, Jacko, Jason, Dave Pancake and all the rest were very helpful towards helping me get through AFF. Clark, Joe and Kelly are not only great instructors they're also smart, efficient, calming and they always look out for your best interests. They stand behind you 1000%. Without these guys at the DZ, it's just a plain 'ol big field with a plane and people falling out of the sky. They deserve to be where they are and if I could give them an award, I would. They never brush you off when you ask them any questions, even after you finish AFF. They are bar none the BEST!!!! I failed 3 levels twice each but they kept encouraging me to do better and supported me all the way! They deserve an incentive bonus! Get it Dale?!!

I've just got back from 2 weeks at Crosskeys, i went out there because John Eddows, one of the big cheifs, sent Stuey, Spotty and Toast to the BPA AGM in January '01.
I travelled over 3,000miles to jump a steerman bi-plane, which, might i add was soooooo cool!! but also to visit those guys at the MonkeyClaw freefly school (http://www.monkeyclaw.com)
I travelled to Crosskeys all by myself, and i think within 2 days, i knew everyone there!! I had no problems finding anyone to jump with, and i received so much good advice!!
Okay, so i was let down a little bit, only because Stuey told me it would be good weather.... On arrival i found that the weather back home in England was 10 times better!
I highly recommend this dropzone to everyone, the Frankenotter is cool (even though it scraped half the skin off my foot!, didn't hurt though)
And just a quick word of advice,
Ignore the Monkeyclaw guys when they try to talk you into a Voodoo Container, they won't admit it but they all really liked my brand new Javelin Odyssey!

Quick hello to:
Jacko, Mark, Jason, John, Stuey, Tim, Bert, Heath, Adam, Kelly, Toast, John, Stacy (x2), Jori, Melody, Shani, Betty, Alan, Mary, Dale, Skeff, Geoff, Boxman, Flav, Fric, Hutchco,
Mike,Georgie and anyone else i forgot (not on purpose!)

Ive been visiting Xkeys for 1 1/2 years now. Ive only done 3 tandems in all that time but I still go out there on a regular basis. Whether its to get advice, talk about my upcoming AFF lessons (started today!) or to just visit and shoot the breeze, Cross Keys is a place I find myself at often. Theyre staff is great, you can tell their a dedicated buch cause they're always around. Questions dont really go unanswered at Xkeys, cause you can always find somebody to help with any problems.
I think today was my best day out there yet, it even beat the day a DZ truck had to pull my ambulance out of a mud hole ( i will never again park any vehical, even if it is an emergency vehical beyond the red lines) I woke up today knowing that they were calling for a huge snowstorm. Still, I hoped to get at least one jump in after ground school. That didnt end up happening, but I still got a lot of new learning experiences. Not only is my AFF coach a extrememly skydiver, but so was his "student", another employee working on getting his AFF coaching cert, who was sitting in on our lesson. So i had the benefit of being the only student, with two awesome skydivers! Everything was explained in a very detailed manner, and after each new lesson, my JM asked me if I had any questions then did a quick verbal check on me, throwing out questions about everything we just reviewed. What i really appreciated was the fact that he was so consistent and insistant that i learn what he's teaching. He didnt just tell me and move on. He made sure I knew what I was talking about, and that I knew it inside out. Instead of lecturing and demonstrating the entire time, he made me show him and demonstrate everything I learned, time and time again.
I dont mind that I didnt get to jump today cause of the weather, cause ground school made me feel comfortable enough that I dont feel the need to get up there and jump right out of the classroom. Everything was gone over so many times, its already a part of me. looking around the house, im wondering "where can i practice my exit? where can i practice PLFing?"
In any case, im glad that Xkeys is where i find myself starting out. Cant wait to learn and advance.

I've jumped at several DZs, and I have to say that I still love Cross Keys. As a skydiver, manifestor and web master there I get to see the whole picture of the place- an incredible staff and huge skydiving population. Although it is a large DZ, the atmosphere is still family like. Never a problem getting coaching or finding people to jump with, even as someone right out of AFF. Pretty much anything i could want is there, even a balloon. Overall a very well rounded place with any ammenity you could want- riggers, store, cafe, fast planes... =c)
