When my (grown-up) kids invited me to join them for a First Jump Course (FJC), I wasn't really sure if it would be a one-shot event. The prospect of spending a day with the kids and sharing an unforgettable experience was as much a factor as was the prospect of making a static-line jump.

To exit an airplane in flight was clearly the most un-natural act I'd ever done however I was "hooked" as soon as I was out the door.

I walked into the office afterwards and told everyone that I decided to get my license.

Thus started a routine of calls to the dz to check winds and many pleasant hours of time at the dz to meet everyone, discuss skydiving, and wait for favorable winds (many of my jumps were late in the day when the winds die down). Everyone at MRVS is friendly and supportive and I quickly felt accepted and 'at home' there.

On many occasions, the local up-jumpers put together loads to enable me to make my late-in-the-day jumps. Now that I have a license I look forward to passing on the favor to other students to come.

Most of the time the aircraft is a Cessna 206 however there are also Cessna 182s that are used when the 206 is unavailable. The target area is large (suitable for students) and the terrain is flat farmland for miles around.

I would recommend MRVS to anyone who is interested in skydiving from tandem students, static-line and AFP students, and licensed skydivers. Also, bring your family and friends -- the atmosphere is fun and pleasant and everyone has a good time -- jumpers and spectators alike.

Awesome little dropzone in Missouri. You won't find the big turbines here, but you will find a friendly atmosphere and an owner that always wants to make the customer happy. A few weeks ago someone broke out the cargo door on their 182, Tom had it repaired in a couple hours al by himself. The dedication to the sport here is unreal. I started with nothing, progressed all through my student status and just recently graduated, this is the place to do it. The JMs will work to get you in the air as a student, in between tandems and experienced loads. I can't say enough good things about this place! Obviously there is nothing the DZO can do about weather, I just wish everyone would understand that. Two weeks in a row, Tom has let one fun jump load go up, just to keep his skydivers happy. Everyone knows he can't make any money off of one load, but he doesn't do it for the money! He does it for love of the sport...

Stopped by on short notice to try to get a jump in. Was met by the owner Tom Dolphin and greeted with a smile and shown around the place and made to feel very welcome. Dispite having a fair amount of tandems and exp. jumpers we have very little wait to get on a load. Everyone from staff to regulars were very nice folks. Huge landing area and tons of outs, nothing but farm land for miles, huge swoop pond to the south of the dz. Couldn't stay for the invite for supper, but I'm sure it would have been fun to take over to local watering hole with the MRVS gang and trade those No shit there I was stories........ Good to see my old friend Tom again. So if yer passing by stop in and make a few it's a nice place.

This was my home DZ off and on for 5 years (1 year in Korea, 5 months in Iraq). The facilities are first rate. If you are looking for turbines, Skydive Arizona, it ain't, but the old reliable Cessnas do the job well. Tom and Patty put their heart and soul into the place and the gang at the DZ was a true second family to me. It has a vibe and feeling I have not found at any DZ before or since. I miss those guys! If you want to skydive in the KC area, this is the place!

Skydiving in Kansas City, has a great place to go! MRVS These guys have all the bases covered. Complete training, from jump student to jump pilot, and all the ratings in between. Sure we all want mega turbine aircraft, but there are some places that you just love to call home! and this is one of them! A lot of DZ's blow smoke about whom they are, and what they do, This place will put their money where the other DZ's offer mouth. These guys can SKYDIVE! and will assist you in becoming one of their own.

MRVS is where I started and finished my student progression. They welcomed me with open arms into their skydiving family. I would recommend anyone in Missouri that wants a great experience skydiving whether it be tandem, student jumps or experienced jumpers try this dropzone and have some fun. Blue skies!!!
