If you like long wait times and lots of rules, then this is the place for you.  I recently moved close to jumptown, and thought living close to the DZ would be a nice perk. So far I’ve been there 7 times, and done 2 jumps, both solo, and both after 2+ hours waiting. Today was a beautiful summer day, I spent about an hour at the DZ but didn’t spend any $$. There was a solo slot available if I wanted to wait another 90 minutes or so. Tomorrow I’m going to drive right by, and keep driving another hour and a half to a more fun DZ.

They do have a nice hanger though.

I completed the entirety of my A llicense at Jumptown. Chose this spot because of the rave reviews I found online and I can definitely say they live up to the hype.

The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and safety oriented, both of which prepare you and put you at ease as a new student. These folks absolutely love what they do and give 100% to each individual who rolls through, whether it be a student, tandem or spectator. I have a buddy who just started AFF and I was lucky enough to ride up when he did his first jump. I was extremely impressed with the instruction/attention he received, which was the same I got and, I'm sure, the same those before me got. NOT watered down and just running through the motions.

The same can be said of the entire community at Jumptown. Any time I had a question there was always someone willing to help. There is a camaraderie here it feels like a new family. I read reviews about cliqueiness (is that even a word?) at other dropzones and Jumptown is the exact opposite....a tightly knit, yet very welcoming group.

I feel so fortunate to have found such an awesome dropzone and this review can't even do it justice. Would unequivocally recommend coming here.

I came up to check it out a couple years ago and haven't looked back.
Just about everyone is friendly. Safety is a big thing here. There is an awesome positive learning environment for newer jumpers. Plenty of coaches and people willing to go up and teach you something.
I quickly went from a 100 jump wonder that could barely pull off a 4 way round to doing big ways (anything from base to floating to last diver)
The aircraft is well maintained and the pilot is incredible.
The student gear is well maintained and is some of the newest gear in the industry. Plenty of rental gear for experienced jumpers too.
Absolute confidence in the rigging loft and packers.
It doesn't matter what type of flying you do, there is always people to jump with and load organizing every weekend.

Multiple packing areas.

Huge landing area, the manicured area is C&D only, but the rest is soft sand. Some areas are a bit rough, but it is forgiving.
Camping and showers.
The food trailer rocks.

There aren't enough good things that can be said about JT.

I did my first tandem in may of 2007 and loved it. I couldn't start my AFF until June of 2008. It was great. all the instructors were really friendly and very good at teaching. I got my A license here and I am glad I did.
I have been to a few other dropzones and seeing some of the student gear and the landing area i am glad that I can call jumptown my home dropzone.

They always have load organizers for RW and they also have some of the best freefly coaching.

It is just a great environment to hang out in. I try to make it there every weekend and even if I don't jump it is just fun to hang out.

I definitely recommend this dropzone and you should try to make it out here as soon as you can.

I don't jump but hang out at Jumptown almost every weekend with my son who started AFF in July of 2008 and now has over 120 jumps. I have seen him progress throughout is AAF and one of the most important things at this DZ for me is, that safety is number 1. It is great fun to be there, because everybody is extremely nice and friendly and the staff is highly trained and experienced. Just look at Billy, the Otter Pilot who is flying at Jumptown since 1984.

Check this place out yourself and I guaranty you will love it.

I jumped for the first time today and it was AMAZING. I was so scared but everyone at Jumptown was so friendly and fun! It was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had...I even bought another tandem jump for half off and I can't wait to go again soon!

DEFINITELY GO HERE!

Jumptown is an all around great dz. You are treated like family even if it is not technically your "home dropzone." The load organizing is priceless (literally), and the experience you gain from jumping with the people there you won't find anywhere else. It is super easy to get on a load and do exactly what you want, you won't ever be sitting around or begging for people to jump with. It's a great dz for all experience levels and disciplines. Out of all the dz's I've been to, Jtown remains my favorite!

What a great group of jumpers. Their instructors are top notch, they have the best rigger around on staff, dive organizers almost every day that love to take you into their group, clean camping with showers, indoor packing on a padded mat, the Spank'n Otter Grill, the list goes on and on.

I showed up to try skydiving, and never left.

I recently switched to Jumptown to continue with AFF training. The level of instruction, friendliness of the staff, and others - ALL others there - packers, upjumpers, students, office staff, instructors, everyone - is amazing!

I felt right at home, and part of the place the first day!

The planes are new and clean, the gear is new and clean - and they have a lot of it for students. The instructors are just phenomenal..world class jumpers, who become instant friends!

Everyone comes up and says hello to a new face ... ask any question you want to, and you get reliable help.

This is the way a DZ should be run!

BTW - I am 61 going through AFF, and I am not alone there! Lots of POPS and SOS jumpers!

MY new home DZ!!!

I began Skydiving at a Cessna DZ in NY before I switched to Jumptown to finish my student jumps. I now call Jumptown my home DZ.

They have the friendliest, most helpful, experienced staff around! There is always someone willing to jump with me, even though I am new to the sport. I learn a lot on EVERY skydive with these people, whether it's tips on making the point, or exactly what happens when you're late on exit!

When the weather isn't jumpable, stick around and listen to stories, work on that rating you have been meaning to, watch Skydiving videos on the big screen or grab a beer and hang out at the fire (of course only when the plane's tied down)!

FOR FIRST TIMERS: they have very experienced tandem masters, camera people and the pilot is great!

JUMPTOWN, couldn't say a bad thing about it!

My wife and I went to Jumptown today. The facility is very clean and friendly, and the people who run the place have been in the sport since the 1970's! That is what I call experience! The snack bar serves great food! This is a big plus when you are waiting around for the weather to clear. The instructors were very sharp, and allow the student to pull the rip cord, then fly the canopy for a bit, if you so desire. This was my second tandem, and I plan on going through AFF at Jumptown in the spring of 2009!

I am a fairly new skydiver and I was in Boston for work so I visited the famous Jumptown this past weekend. (5/18/2008) And everyone was very friendly and welcoming. As far as I could tell, I was really the only visitor that day as the weather was supposed to be bad, but I got lucky. There were people there that have been part of world-class skydiving accomplishments and have been in the sport longer than I have been alive, but they were willing to put together a jump with someone like me with only 60 jumps.
The Otter was fantastic and we didn't even have to sit on the floor.

All in all...its a great place to jump. I would definitely recommend any skydiver that ever visits the Boston area to make it out there to make a few jumps.

I did my AFF training at Jumptown last July and I have been there every weekend since! They have an amazing student program that turns out a ridiculous amount of graduates that go on to get their A Licenses. Brian Grady is the rigger and, well, he's the man.. not much else to say there.

Coaches, the new Super Otter, the pilot, the hangar, the people, the landing area, the bonfire and night time social life - nothing is left to be desired. Oh and Dave Brown comes and offers FREE coaching, in whatever discipline you want basically, a few times a year. Doesn't get much better than that, kids.

Jumptown will always be home for me!

I have jumped at about 14 dropzones around the country and I can say that Jumptown is hands-down the best one I've been to. Big-league people (world record participants walking around doing 2 and 3-ways with low-timers) and facilities (Otter all the time, big nice new hangar with all the amenities), but the best vibe I have ever seen in terms of having fun, looking out for each other, and welcoming new jumpers. It is a very unusual place. I jumped there fulltime for about 2 yrs but then moved out of New England.

My home DZ is one that is near Jumptown and I went there for a canopy course. Everyone was sincerely friendly and made me feel at home. Months later when my home DZ's plane went south for the winter and we invaded Jumptown the vibe was even better. Everyone was excited to have a lot of new faces around and some old ones that they haven't seen in a long time. I was shocked at the number of Jumptown regulars that were willing to jump with a new license holder and tailored the jumps to my experience. Having heard stories of bad blood between DZ's that are close to one another it made me feel great that this was not the case at Jumptown or the DZ that i normally jump at. I think that says a lot about this place! My only complaint is that it's so far from my house!!! Excellent staff, awesome people, and great experiences!

I was treated very good along with the others that competed in the World Cup Speed Skydiving meet.

I felt welcome and at home as soon as I arrived there. The water was hot in the showers and the grills burned clean for the cookout. The aircraft was top rate and landing areas were SUPER!

The place is not a business, it really is a club. Many good things to offer in all related skydiving activities and trainin, RW, CRW, freefly. They are legends, being open for more than 40 years, funded by legends in the sport. They managed to create an atmosphere of drug free, true sport club, where you not only go there to jump, but to train, become proeficient in any speacialty, and their willingnes to teach you all the way. They are true professionals, even when you make mistakes, the courtesy and great manners could be the envy of any dropzone.

I will call this my second home without a doubt.

I went through Tandem Progression, AFF and 3 solo jumps in a little over a month. From the moment I walked into the manifest office I knew this was the DZ for me. Every single member of this club is focused on exceptional and safe performance every time. The formal training is excellent. The informal discussion between loads is supportive and geared to your personal experience level. The people are great and the facilities handle your every need. They have to drag me home after every weekend and if I could afford to quit work I'd live at Jumptown. Blue skies forever at Jumptown.

Jumptown is a dropzone that lives up to its reputation. Everything is dedicated to having fun together with safe jumping and sharing experience. First timers are happily welcomed and experienced jumpers come back over and over.

Try it, you'll love jumptown. And, this year (2002) they've got an Otter!
