Overall, my group had a really great time. John and Bob were great instructors and awesome to tandem jump with. Arnold was a good teacher and overall nice guy.

The only negative comment I have is we all paid for hand cam videos which were supposed to be given to us the day of (July 31). Then, they were promised to be delivered that same week to our homes. They didn't show up all week. I called many times over the past few weeks and when I finally talked to Lance a few weeks later, he said we'd receive videos at the end of that week. That was last week and we never did. We called him again and he said he still had to burn them onto dvds.

Other than this, the experience was great!

All I can say is WOW! One of the greatest days of my life!! This has been something I have wanted to do for a while, and I am so glad I chose Skydive Maryland. Shortly after I arrived for my 11:00 appointment, I was already in the air with my awesome instructor John. He made me feel very comfortable and his instructons were easy to understand (and he was hot!). I chose the hand cam video option and couldn't be happier. I probably watch it at least once a day! The staff were really nice and it had a really relaxing vibe, which is great when you are about to jump out of a airplane! This summer I plan on bringing out my whole family so we can jump together. GOOD JOB SKYDIVE MARYLAND! You guys rock :)

I met Lance Linton he showed me some dvds of past jumps to get me familiarized with what I would be doing and trained me and everything stuck I didnt go up doubting anything would happen and my first jump was successful I now refer this place to family and friends and anyone that wants to try aerosports. Even if your experienced at it theres always something new to learn

I jumped with these dudes back in Sept and it was everything I wanted. The view of Baltimore form 10,000 feet up is sick! when we first jumped I was freaked(!) out but that all went away in a few seconds and it felt like was flying. they let me steer the chute and showed me the bay, the atlantic ocean and even b-more and annapolis. pretty cool to see from a parachute! the guys were super laid back and I was treated like I was a long lost friend. I'll be back to learn to jump!

This goes out to anyone in general regarding radar for other planes. 90% of small aircraft, such as the ones used in skydiving don't have radar to check for planes. It's called spotting, we look out the door to check our air space before we jump and broadcast to other aircraft in the area that jumpers are about to drop. it's a pilots responsiblitly to clear or not cross that airspace at that time. So don't comment on and give a DZ a bad review for something you know absolutely nothing about.

They have no regard to safety or customer service. The facility was filthy and reeked of beer. We literally had to fight them with a 3rd party in order to assess an overcharge. Terrible business. I was hoping to go to another dropzone but everyone was booked. This was a nightmare and the "owner" lied to me and my fiance's faces.

I went to Ridgely with a friend of mine for her birthday. She found it and we went to skydive. We got there at 930 for a 10am appt. One of our friends went up to skydive with a new instructor who got into an argument with another instructor INFRONT of us. Very unprofessional. They didn't check radar and didn't have any surveillance to make sure no other planes were in the area. When our friend and his instructor were gliding down, their parachute almost collapsed because another random plane in the "open" field area got too close!
Then we had to wait because the radar wasn't good enough for jumping, which was fine. But Lance, was very unprofessional and told another friend to leave for NO REASON. He is argumentative and yells at the clients instead of treating them with respect.
DON'T GET THE DVD. It's not worth it. You'll pay $79 for a 4-5 minute low quality video that only showcases a few second pieces at a time. And they just raised their prices.
The only reason why I didn't give this place a 1 is because of the Instructor Bob. He was understanding and would listen to our questions and even called in an outside instructor to come and finish our jump instead of the other unprofessional people. He knows what he's doing and he's very safe. I only hope he can find somewhere else to teach.

I received a gift of a tandem skydive at Skydive , Maryland in Ridgely, for my 70th birthday, in 2009. My friends had to make repeated calls to receive the gift card.

I called at the end of February to schedule a dive. I was told reservations were not taken until March. I have been calling almost twice weekly, including having my friends who paid make the calls. I have, to date: June 28, 2010, not received ANY return calls.

As I've read the reviews, it appears, a number of people have been bilked out of their money. I'm curious--a positive review always follows a negative review. Is it because someone from the company writes the positive one.

I'm almost afraid now to schedule my jump with them because if I report them to the BBB, might there be a problem with the jump?

A group of 13 of us went skydiving last week at skydive MD in Ridgely and had a blast! The staff was awesome. We arrived for a bit early for our 11:00 am appointment and expected a bit of a wait but we were signed in, trained and the first of our group members on in the air before 11! The staff went out of there way to make sure we all had a blast, which is easy to do since skydiving is the most incredible experience available. This airport is very busy on the weekends so it seems like it would be a good idea to book reservations as they stay very busy and i can see why! We've already booked two days in October to bring back two more groups of 20!

So I have to start off by saying that this was by far the WORST interaction I have ever had with ANY business. My brother and I were planning on going skydiving here and we booked through skydive Maryland. The first time we drove all the way out to Ridgley, the person in charge Lance was first off extremely rude, and second had overbooked that day and wanted us to wait 7 HOURS to wait for a group of 15 people to go before us even though we had reservations for a specific time. The coward didn’t even have the decency to come and tell us himself that he had messed up, he sent one of the instructors.
So we went home and rescheduled for another day, we made the 3 hour drive back to Ridgley a few months later with an appointment time of 2 PM. This time Lance told us there was one person in front of us and then we would get started so “just hang tight”. So we hung tight for 3 HOURS. And then thunderstorms came in. And again the coward Lance didn’t have the decency to tell us himself that we couldn’t jump that day he again sent an instructor. I understand you can’t jump in poor weather, but to make us wait 3 hours for no good reason when the weather was just perfect, to only tell us we can’t jump in a thunderstorm when our appointment was for 2 pm is absurd.
So finally Lance said if the rain thunderstorm passes by 7PM we could jump today and that he would be there all day so if we wanted to run into town and hang out he would call us if it clears up. So we did that and around 6:30 PM we decided to come back to the jump site where the skies are completely clear and of course Lance is nowhere to be found.
To summarize, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, the guy who runs the place is basically a hippie trying to run a business, and doing a HORRIBLE job of it. I typically am not the type of person to write reviews but my experience here was sooooo BAD I just had to. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and lack of respect for patrons. Over all JUST TERRIBLE.

I made my first skydive at skydive Maryland a few weeks ago and could not be more satisfied. The location is great, close to Baltimore (I could see Baltimore and DC from the plane at 5,000 feet!) with a great set-up at the airport... shaded picnic areas with a full kitchen/grill should you need to cook. Even though the place was extremely(!) busy, we were in and out in no time. The person on the phone as well as the website, cautioned us that we should plan to spend at least half a day at the site, but even with 30 others jumping we we're done in a couple hours. The instructors were great! Funny, but yet very professional at the same time. I felt totally safe. My group is already making plans to come back in April and bring a lot more people. Thanks Skydive MD!

When my girlfirend offered me a gift card to skydive I was completly excited. Now after 1 cancellation (weather was the official reason), 5 hours of wait in vain and 4 hours of car for nothing, I feel very less motivated.

Even if I am completly disappointed and angry about this crap Skydive Maryland company, I will stay objective and just give you the facts:
- We paid a deposit and booked for a date D.
- The D Date, we got a phone call in the morning: the jump is postponed to the afternoon. Late in the morning we get a second call: The jump is cancelled because of the weather.
- We booked for a second date and had to negociate to keep the same price. Skydive Maryland wanted that we pay more because of the gas price increase.
- The Sunday morning of the jump (second try) no phone call. So we arrive in the flight place on time.
- We paid the remaining balance.
- Just after the payment the receptionist explained to us that they have a trouble with the plane so we can expect a delay.
- We had learned at the end of the day that the trouble with the plane has required 2 hours to be fixed.
- 5 hour after our arrival the receptionist we learn that finally only few people from our group will be able to jump. We have also to forget our video to do it faster.
- I was not one of the few able to jump. So I ask for a discount for the next time. They refused.
- I took my money back and left without obtaining a reason for such a huge delay.

Conclusion:
A wasted Sunday with 4 hours of car for nothing.

For sure I will try again the big jump but certainly not in Skydive Maryland.

Sincerely,

Our initial visit to Ridgely Dropzone, I was a little dismayed. However, after talking with experienced jumpers and actually getting to do it, my view changed. Note: On our initial jump we were told they were shorthanded. That and weather conditions prohibited us from jumping. Well, August 9th we got to go, and it was awesome! The experience of a lifetime. The whole staff was there and indeed, everything went smooth as silk. My group of friends are all very greatful to the folks at Ridgely. They took excellent care of us. I would highly recomend them!

It was my first sky jump and I left Skydive Maryland with a real bad taste remaining in my mouth. First, we had to wait for 5 hours because this company overbooked its time(they seemed to be more interest in making profit than taking care of their customers.)
Secondly,we were a bunch of 9 guys and less than half of our group had a chance to jump. The location is not very good at all because being from DC we had to deal with the traffic jams around the bay bridge and it was a real waste of time. As far my instructor, I did not like his sarcasms and the attitude he gave to me. The plane was not really reassuring. The inside was completely rusty and too small for 4 persons. On top of it, the door could not be closed properly.

I had a similar experience to what others have written here. I'm glad others were happy, but my wife ordered a GC for my 40th birthday as I've wanted to try a jump now for years....she ordered on 24 June and our credit card was charged the very same day through PayPal....it's now 28 June and still no GC...my wife called several times with no answer...she finally got someone about 2 weeks ago who promised to send the GC....still haven't gotten it....we finally asked for our money back last week and are still waiting for a credit on the card....we are submitting a claim through PayPal as well to get our money back....VERY disappointed....would have liked to jump. Will look elsewhere I guess.

They were great and treated me with first class help. They work well with what they have and treat their staff like gold.I am so inpressed with the way the staff has worked togeather to created a place that is all fun, fresh, and is exceptionally closer then any other skydiveing opperation. If good time is what you are looking for then this is the place for you.

P.S. Who drives two hours when perfection is one hour away.

I had the pleasure of jumping Tandem for the first time at Skydive Maryland a few weeks ago. The staff is top notch. Professional, yet fun and laid back. Everything was very organized, and appointments went like clockwork. The views we're awesome, under the parachute I could see the Bay Bridge, and the Baltimore skyline on one side, and out into the Atlantic Ocean on the other! They just moved to a new location, just an hour from Baltimore/Washington, only 20 miles from the Bay Bridge ... and its great! Quick easy drive (unlike a few of the competitors I looked into). I'll definitely be bring my friends there in the future!
Thanks Skydive MD!

I recently took a group there and everyone enjoyed it. The staff was helpful and courteous and FUN! Its really a laid back place and a friendly atmosphere. I decided to do the AFF program there and have no regrets, well one... only that i should have started sooner! The first time i jumped they were in Salisbury and with my second jump they moved closer to the Bay Bridge (about an hour or so) which is awesome.

Skydive Maryland is one of the most professional organizations that I have ever dealt with. The staff is more than willing to go out of their way to help anyone who needs it, and their aircraft are some of the quickest in the sport out flying even Cross Keys's 206. However, I was slightly perturbed when I read a rating given by Mellis002. He is obviously a wuffo that has never been laid, or a fag that subscribes to dropzone. com to "feel" like a skydiver, but when it comes time to jump other things just happen to pop up. Anyway, I would recommend Skydive Maryland to anyone interested in the most exilerating experience of their life!!!

I started (and finished) my AFF program at Skydive Maryland, and am now a regular jumper there. The staff has always been great, very experienced, and always willing to help. The views are awesome, offering the Atlantic ocean on one side, and the Chesapeake bay on the other, and the best part is there only minutes away from Ocean city (great night life)!
The vibe is great, I'd recommend anyone in the Baltimore, Washington area wanting to make some low key fun jumps, or a tandem, to check this place out. Its certainly not the biggest around, but maybe the best!

Used to be my favorite place back in early 2000. Now they are going through some hardship, my wish is that they get the Turbine again.

If you are an experienced jumper fed up with the cliques at big drop zones on the east coast, visit this small place, you will have the best time ever.

My biggest problem with the place is that it's too far from my home, and everytime I come out there they always have some problems with the weather. Could you guys move your place a 100 miles to the west and do something about weather phenomena.

The debacle of dealing with this unprofessional outfit started in August 2005 when I tried to get a gift certificate for a tandem jump for a friend. After ordering the certificate, it took 4 weeks to arrive in the mail. I tried calling many times to find out what was going on, and hardly ever did someone even answer the phone.

I finally recieved the certificate 3 weeks later than promised and set up an appointment to jump with my friend. We were scheduled to jump at 1:30 on Saturday November 5. We drove 2.5 hours from DC to get to the drop zone and when we arrived on time and the place was vacant. We tried calling but got no answer. While there, a man showed up looking for the guys who run this outfit and was not surprised to see that they were late. Apparantly, this outfit makes a habit of missing appointments.

After waiting for 1.5 hours for someone to show up, we gave up and left. When I finally got a hold of them on the phone after two days of calling, they weren't even remotely apologetic. The man I spoke to didn't seem to care that they missed our appointment, as it is a common occurance there.

With the unprofessionalism that this outfit demonstrated, I would never even think about jumping out of a plane with them. If they can't even remember to show up for a reservation, who knows if they can remember to check the equipment and pack it correctly. I advise staying away from this outfit if you treasure your money, time, or life.

The dropzone is easy to find. I showed up and got directed to a staff member of P.A.F./Skydive Maryland. After a review of my gear and log book. I was manifested onto a load.

On the way to altitude I was taken by the view of Chesapeake Bay and the overall land scape. The natural beauty that encompasses the DZ is second to none. The only regreat I have is that I could only make one jump due to a slow day.

Thanks for the Skydive Guys!!!!!
See Ya next time.

This place is great if you are into learning how to Freefly and Hook Turn.

The student operation has been in business for over 20 years and has a very expeirenced staff with thousands of jumps.

I would recomend it to students and freeflyers.

I made a tandem reservation for a friend and myself in Dec. 1999, after just having come back from a vacation and doing 2 tandem jumps out of state. Thankfully they never asked for a credit card deposit over the phone, because when we showed up at the drop zone 8am that morning, we were the only ones there! It was overcast and drizzly, but we sat around for a couple hours. Finally an experienced jumper wandered through, said "Oh, I guess we're not jumping today", and left. We went to lunch, came back, and still no skydivers or instructors so finally went back home. I didn't bother to call them back.

I found another drop zone (which is still my home dz), where the staff (and regulars) show up rain or shine for student reservations.
