Since being taken out by a tornado, this DZ has been moved to Frankfort, IN. I just completed my AFF there and had a blast! Met some amazing people including Jay Stokes who was one of my instructors.

Great place to spend a weekend!

If you cannot jump due to weather you will NOT get your money back no matter what! Staff does not communicate well. I came in on a saturday to jump at 10. An hour went by with no update. I asked and was told the weather was not clear enough to jump weather yet. I waited another hour with no communication and decided to call it a day and rescedule. The whole time the entire staff was socializing among themselves with no apparent interest in running the business or keeping the waiting customers informed.

The owner is extremely unprofessional. He never returned any phone calls I made. This place is a joke. Don't put your life in the hands of these people.

I had been to Skydive Greensburg multiple times watching friends make jumps, so I felt incredibly comfortable when I went for the first time. The staff is on it; professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful. There was no doubt in my mind I'd have a great experience. Even so, it was better than I'd expected!

If you are interested in jumping look no further than Skydive Greensburg! They have everything you could want or need, and if you're bringing your family and friends, there's no better location. An olympic pool with slides and diving boards, miniature golf, skate park, basketball court, fishing pond, ice cream stand are all within easy—and I mean less than a half-mile—walking distance.

For the instructors, the videographers, the staff, the environment and the experience, there's no DZ in the midwest better than Skydive Greensburg!

On Aug 21,at around noon, my son (16) was scheduled to skydive, he couldn't do it that day due to the weather. We left at around 2pm & received a rain check for the next day at 11 am. On Aug 22 we arrived a few minutes before 11 am, signed in & waited for his turn. A few minutes before noon my son was told by an instructor that he was too young to skydive per new rules by the equipment manufacturer.

My complaint is not the fact that the rules changed but the manner in which we received the information.

Upon finding out that my son couldn't skydive I went to the registration office to get a refund & to also further inquire about the new rules. My question was answered with 'We had no way of knowing his age' & 'you must have signed in yesterday before 11 am when we received the call from the equipment manufacturer' or even better...the owner was more worried about having to change the brochures and website to reflect the new rules!! I was VERY clear about his age when arriving the first day & signing the consent forms and VERY clear about his age when making the reservation.

A couple of opportunities to let us know...

1.We arrived on Aug 21 AFTER 11 am-when they say they received the call regarding the new rule. We were at their facility until about 2 pm waiting for the clouds to lift - all after the 11 am phone call from the manufacturer.

2. After checking in on Aug 22nd we sat and waited for about an hour (expected the wait, no big deal). When my son met his instructor the instructor asked his age.

3. Via phone anytime August 21st after 2 pm.

The owner & registration office staff did not tell us about the change in rules & did not take ownership of their failure to notify us before driving out to their facility. 1.5 hour drive, 70+ miles one way.

Skydive Greensburg SHOULD have let us know on Saturday, August 21st that my son could not skydive due to a change in the rules - either upon checking in OR before leaving due to the weather OR by calling us that day/evning. They were aware of my son's age as there is a contract that had to be filled out and signed by myself AND my son.

Hopefully Skydive Greensburg doesn't care for their aircraft & parachute equipment with the same negligence that they treat their customers.

Having been out at the DZ on 7-31-10 and 8-1-10, I have taken some offense to the last post regarding Skydive Greensburg and remarks about their groups outing. It is clear that the last post forgot to mention one thing...... weather hold. It is no fault of anyone at Skydive Greensburg that clouds move into the area and blanket the entire region for hours. I was asked rather sharply by someone clearly frustrated by the waiting, what was going on regarding scheduling, etc. I, along with a staffer, explained that safety is priority one, rainchecking was certainly an option, and I wanted/ needed to jump as much as possible. I also explained that Bob, and manifest staff, would put them up as soon as possible, but could hardly be faulted for weather.
I'm glad to see the positive comments about the efficiency of staff, the zeal for the sport displayed, and the quality of video.
Fact check.... you didnt pay 400, you paid roughly 195, video is optional, but yes it is extra. You also forgot to mention that your group likely got an additional discount because of the number of people in your group.
Those of us who are drawn to the sport participate for a variety of reasons; one of which is to escape the daily stressors of life, work, and grumpy people.
Having owned multiple business ventures myself, I would say that no business operates in a seemless manner at all times..... nor can you please 100% of the people 100% of the time.
Remember ma'am, you left a moving aircraft from thousands of feet above the earth, and your instructor brought you down safely; an experience you will never forget........... AND made it look easy. Skydiving has been a continual learning and growing experience for me, and I would not be offended if you didnt return here to spout venom about something you know so very little about.
I am not affilitated with the business of SGB, and am only giving my opinion as a regular jumper there.

Our horrible experience began on Saturday, July 31st. Our group of 9 had reservations for jumping at 2 pm. The group consisted of an international mix of Managers and Engineers who were scouting the site for a potential corporate outing. What Greensburg does not tell you when you call is that your reservation isn't a reservation at all - you can only reserve a spot by putting your name on the "manifest" list and it is basically first come first serve. When we arrived, there was a group in front of us and the office staff asked our party to wait outside the registration room since it was crowded. They forgot us and we finally had to approach them to ask about registering (again) so our group registered late which meant we weren't put on the manifest until after our 2 pm "reservation" time. When we approached the lady in charge of the manifest list with questions, she was incredibly rude and not helpful. We would have left at that time but Greensburg had our money and there are no refunds. We tried to ask other staff what was happening as there were delays due to low clouds. Each of us received a different answer to the same question. It was maddening because Greensburg has a PA system but the staff did not use it and there seemed to be no one in charge. At 6:30 pm, we finally decided to take a raincheck and drive the 2 hours again the next day to jump.
When we arrived the next day, the office staff (manifest lady and registration staff) were still rude and unhelpful but at least we knew that we needed to get on the manifest quickly in order to secure a place to jump. All in our group jumped (2 AFF and 7 Tandem) and we all agreed that the instructors and camera crew were fantastic. It is incredibly fast paced but once in the plane, the instructors put you at ease and you can tell that even though they are worked hard, they love what they are doing.
Lastly, half of the group received their link to their video and the other half has not received a link or DVD to date. When a call was placed to the site, the person answering replied that each of us would need to call the videographer who filmed us (there are different ones) and request the link and a new DVD. In our case, it was explained that our videographers only work the weekend so we will have to call and try to catch them between jumps. Not well managed when you consider we paid $89.00 for the video.
For approximately $400 a person, I would expect better communication, friendlier staff and more support for items (i.e., no video!). Unfortunately, this was not the case. Would we jump again? ABSOLUTELY! The experience is amazing. But our corporate outing will be scheduled somewhere else that has customer service in mind.

So I was visiting friends in Indiana so we figured we should go skydiving. Skydive Greensburg was the closest option. When I got there we were greeted and welcomed even though it was our first time to the dz. The winds were high that day and the load organizer saw that I was new to the sport so he gave me a ton of advice on my landing approach. I was planning on doing a 2way with a buddy with both of us hanging outside the caravan on the floater bar however it was only big enough for one person to get a grip on it. It seems as though they really cater to tandems seeing as how my friend and I were the only two fun jumpers there. I thought it was weird they only took tandems and us (by default) to 9500 feet. They said they would go higher with fun jumpers but obviously there weren't enough to send a load.

The friendliness and new rental gear really sell this place. I'm just used to the huge skydive chicago dz so I had to adjust. If you are in the area it is worth checking out.

I have read the reviews on here, specifically about some of the staff and the cliques. While this may have been years ago that these experiences happened, I have found that this dropzone has some of the most friendly staff I have ever dealt with. I originally did all of my AFF there eight years ago and loved the dropzone every minute I was there.

After being out of the sport for six years, I was able to show up and spend an entire afternoon with Billy (owners son) and speak with him about all of my experiences and questions I had about getting current and my licenses. He was extremely friendly with me and both he and his brother took the time to help me understand the differences between packing a solo rig v. a tandem rig.

I have found that this dropzone is much more user friendly than some of the reviews would lead you to believe and the expertise they have on staff is worth the visit.

During Summerfest 08, my boyfriend and I wanted to stop at some DZ's on our drive back to Florida. I called this DZ to inquire about jumping there and was told to come on out. When we arrived and walked into the hanger, we were greeted very rudely by the manifest girl and was told that they did not fly fun jumpers and that all of their fun jumpers were now jumping at START in Ohio. I explained that I had talked to the DZO earlier in the week and she did not care. There was not one friendly hello or smile. Rather glares by obviously unhappy staff. I know now where not to go.

I did my AFF at Greensburg during the last weeks and I relished the whole time.
Even though I'm not an fluent English speaker, the staff took their time to explain everything to me in ground school. I think they couldn't prepare me better for my first jump, I felt excellent prepared and coached for my AFF jumps.
My jumps were great, perfect briefing and debriefing. I think I learned the maximum I could.
The DZ is great, huge landing area in perfect condition, very nice people and everything you could need you'll find in less than a 15 minute drive.

Thanks to Bob, Phil, Sarah, Dough, Shorty, Alex, John and all other people at the DZ. Your are doing a great job.

There are some fine people at Skydive Greensburg (Jay Stokes, John Judy and Gene Newsom). These 3 guys are the nicest and most helpful people I've met there. The only problem I have at SDG are the cliques. There are a bunch of young people with 100+ jumps that don't want you to jump with them. I always feel like an outsider. When I show up, and get my gear on, nobody asks me if I want to join in on their formation. Since I don't have any friends that I can jump with, I'm usually a solo freeflyer. I've dropped a load of money jumping at SDG, and the DZO doesn't even remember my name. So, unless you can make friends easily, plan on jumping alone, because no one will jump with you if they don't know you, they won't even talk to you, especially if you're a student or a new A license recipient.

I really enjoy Skydive Greensburg. They have some of the best staff, a fun atmosphere, and a quality location. Sure it can't all be perfect all the time, that is why we have reserves. Overall A in my book.

I did my AFF at Greensburg. The class was excellent and the instructors were stellar. My fourth AFF jump...Bob "forgot" I was on the plane and I had to land off DZ. After spending $1500 for the AFF....he freaking forgot me!!!! After hitching a ride back to the DZ...he wasn't looking for the lost student!!!! Bob didn't even apologize. Three other people back slapped congratulations and told the story of when Bob forgot them....what the hell!!!!!
After watching a cocky camera guy almost plow(a few feet at most) into Billy (the owner's son)...it was time to move on. No discipline or even a verbal warning for almost mauling another jumper. What the Hell!!!
It's frustrating...the planes are great...the AFF instructors are great. Gene the master rigger/jumper is amazing. In addition, some really friendly folks out jumping and having a good time.
Altogether it's probably just average...with a ton of potential. If Bob moves out of operations and a safety officer is hired....it could be awesome.

As a novice to this sport, I have no reference for comparison. However, I was most impressed. The facility is clean, orderly and efficiently operated. The staff is very professional, inspiring confidence. They are also relaxed and good-humored enough to to make you feel at ease. Would not hesitate to recommend this DZ to family/friends. I'll be back.

Here are some of my bad experiences:

1 My father and I did our AFF there. When my fathers 2 instructors made it to the ground and walked passed me they were making fun of my dads performance.

2 The owners son on guiding me in on my graduation jump through 2 way radio turned me with the wind and landed me in a corn field. I fell and had stand up landings till then. I did what he said against my better judgement because I trusted him. After I landed I noticed he was standing with his clique and called me a corn on the cob over the radio.

3 I showed up one day just in time to see a reserve ride down on the owners gear The owner was so mad that when the guy got to the ground he said for the student to wait to flair and he never did tell him to. The student blasted his head on the ground pretty good. I noticed that he didnt even see if he was alright or ask how he was.

Goods:
They really do have a nice facility. The aircraft are cool.many of there instructors are very nice and helpfull. I enjoyed camping there. I had some good times there and unfortunately some bad ones as well.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this place a 3 but has the potential to be a 10

I haven't been to Skydive Greensburg's main facility in Indiana....however, I did travel 1,000+ miles ONE WAY to make it to their 2nd Marco Island boogie in Florida. Yes, boogies are more chaotic, but the lack of communication, organization and professionalism from the overseers @ Skydive Greensburg was appalling! The landing area was incredibly small, crowded w/ tourists, and had 1 OUT (the Gulf) -- with only a B License requirement!? When the entire event was cancelled ON THE 1st DAY, no refunds for registration were offered, no apologies given (that I heard).... very greedy & shady if you ask me. Overall, the Marco Island boogie that was advertised SO heavily fell to complete shambles. Although it was a boogie, I wouldn't be quick to spend money or my life at anything promoted by this company.

Greensburg is where I did all of my AFF. I got through AFF in one weekend there, because of the decent moving manifest and the good instructors.
The people there are always willing to jump with you. And when they do, it is always fun.
The instructors work like no others that I have seen. Tandems and AFF's from sunrise 'till sunset.
A great dropzone.

A top notch drop zone with a full time Grand Caravan and C-206. Great staff with depth and variety of experience. Wonderful atmosphere, show up and jump no frills or show up and get in on that big way they are putting together. Instructors and coaches are plentiful and highly knowledgeable, from student progression, RW, and Freefly. I highly recommend Skydive Greensburg for first time jumpers and experienced skydivers alike, you will not be disappointed. See you in the sky!

I began skydiving at this DZ about 6 months ago. I've never met a nicer, more professional group of people all in one place. The instructors are always willing to help, and answer any questions. I can always get on a load quickly, in the rare occasion that I can get my canopy bagged without having someone help me. Whatever discipline you're into, there's someone with a great deal of expertise there. If you're in the area, do stop by! You won't want to leave.

Skydive Greensburg is almost like a second home to me. Since the first time I walked in, I was greeted with open arms by everybody around. Nobody is ever turned away and it's almost like everyone there is just another member of the group. Not once have I seen an instructor get upset or yell, all the instructors are all about critiquing anything that could potentially be dangerous to yourself or anyone else. They are all very knowledgeable about the sport. I defenitely recommend this dropzone to any experienced jumper or student.
