Mikey was a great instructor. Great sense of humor and great knowledge- kept it light and no fear as a result....and I've got to give 5 stars for the video/photographer, Warren- skilled jumper and really skilled photographer- watch out, it doesn't matter who u are, man's got an eye for a shot- you'll get the best of your memories and the artisty of shots is publish worthy. If you can request a crew, they're the best! Thanks guys! You've made the first hard to live up to!

This medium size DZ has everything that a skydiver needs. An Otter and a 182 (and a great pilot to fly them), two huge grassy landing areas for both swoopers and more conservative folks, big carpeted hangar for packing and socializing, showers, huge camping area, bunkhouse, and team rooms. Skydive The Farm is also home to Mike Gruwell's Chuting Star rigging loft/gear store where you can get everything from a reserve repack to a complete set of new gear.

As good as the facilities are, the Farm's real strength is in it's friendly, laid back vibe. The staff and jumpers are all super nice and helpful, and very welcoming to visitors.

After much consideration I decided to try the AFF program. I spoke to a friend who is a very experienced skydiver (military and civilian) and he recommended Skydive The Farm. I am glad I followed his advice. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate my situation (I was from out of town on a work trip). The quality of instruction was excellent. Andy is a wealth of knowledge and was always willing to provide additional training and answer any questions I may have had. Sandy, Jack and Warren were excellent instructors as well. I always felt like I was in good hands when jumping with the AFF instructors at the Farm. I get pretty “keyed up” on the aircraft before I jump and they always did a good job of keeping me focused and calm.

The instructors will train you to a standard and are not afraid to make you repeat a jump if you do not accomplish the critical tasks. In my mind this shows that they really care about their students. They won’t just “throw you out of the plane”. By the time it came to solo, I was confident in my abilities because of the training I received. They emphasize quality over quantity and do not take a “meat grinder” approach to getting students through AFF if they are not prepared.

Because of this, I stayed in Atlanta after my work trip was done and burned a few vacation days to continue Skydiving. I stayed at the DZ and I’m glad I did. There are always folks hanging around who are willing to answer any questions or give tips to improve your abilities.

Hans was great to deal with and worked with me to accommodate my unique situation of being an out of town student with limited time in Georgia. He is very approachable and if you need anything or have any questions just ask. He’ll be more than willing to help.

All in all I had a great experience. My only regret is that I had to leave and go back to work…

I had been doing research galore into finding the right place to go skydiving for the first time, and everywhere I looked Skydive the Farm kept popping up. Even though it's about 3 1/2 hours away from me - it was SO worth the drive. We had made reservations a month or two ago - and even with some crummy weather rolling in, they said we were good to go.

We got there - and of course it started raining. After a brief delay, it turned absolutely beautiful, and we were able to get out on one of the next runs up.

Chuck, Miki, Leslie, and John were all awesome! From everything I could tell - this place was like one big family hang out. Felt welcome from the get-go.

Thanks again to Hans and everyone out @ the farm who made this first experience perfect. I'm highly contemplating going back in June to start the AFF courses.

This was mine and a friend's first jump, and the staff was very understanding of our nervousness. However, we ran into weather problems, which of course was not their fault, and had to jump at 8.5k feet instead of the 14k that we were supposed to jump.
Like I said, this was not their fault, but I feel they could have found another place for us to jump (about 8 other people jumped at full altitude), or given us a discount for the inconvenience. I am VERY disappointed that I got maybe 20 seconds of freefall instead of the minute that we were promised. No effort was made to "make things right."
The only reason we chose this particular DZ (which is about 3-4 hours away from our hometown), was because the altitude surpassed many other DZs. So, even though I DID have a good time, I am not sure that I will choose this for future jumps. Unlike many people who just fell in love with this DZ, I am definitely going to look around at other places before I decide to come back.

UPDATE: less than a day after making this post, I was contected by the owner who offered us a great discount for next time. Many businesses would have just been upset with the review and moved on, but he did the right thing to make it up to us. I will definitely be back and look forward to future jumps!!!

I currently live in New York and did my first tandem in PA. A year after my tandem my dad who lives down in Marrietta offered to have me fly down to GA and do my AFF.

Every bit of the week that I was jumping there was nothing short of amazing. The entire staff was friendly and busted their ass not only to get my AFF completed but also to do my entire A Licence card.

I have tried setting up to go to different DZ's in NY but I always seem to have that desire to head back down to Rockmart. If I wasn't talking to Andy about windspeeds, I was talking to Hans about the next time I was coming up or any of the coaches and instructors on how to improve my freefall. At no time was I standing alone not learning anything.

The knowledge is extensive, the atmosphere is nothing short of amazing, friendly doesn't describe the people. I am sure in the military I will come across other dropzones but I honestly believe that Skydive the Farm will always be my home away from home.

A little over 2 years ago I began jumping at Skydive The Farm and have fallen in love with it.

The people are all top notch, and friendly. The scenery is beautiful, the ponds are massive, and the place is as family friendly as I've ever seen a dz.

Children (if supervised) are welcome, as are pets. The DZO is very friendly and always is running about helping people get on loads.

The twin otter is great too - fast climbs to altitude are always a plus.

All these reasons, and more, is why I've made Skydive The Farm my choice for training in the years to come - not to mention the ONLY place in Georgia that I'll take my friends to do a tandem.

See you there!

So!I live in Michigan and have a couple DZ's within 1-2 hours are decent but lack the professionalism and good friendly vibe I was in search of... Heard about STF back in August of 2008 and decided to give it a whirl. I was not disappointed.

I decided to stop going to my close DZ and save the jumping cash for a flight. I would much rather spend 1 weekend a month with a DZ that has an awesome locale, amazing folks, variety of skydiving disciplines readily available, an Otter, and offers up a one stock shop for the entire weekend.

Seriously, once I flew into Atlanta I had an easy hour drive (seriously like 4 turns from the airport) to the DZ. Once there I never had to leave as there was camping and every meal/snacks served at the cute little cafe on the property.

The DZO Hans is hands down the most organized, professional, and jumper orientated one out there. No matter how busy he is he makes the time to answer or your questions or directs you to the right person with a smile.

The folks are immediately friendly and want to ensure you find the right people who match your discipline and stop by to socialize throughout the day. Plus, they are a hoot when the sun goes down for sure ;-)

The packing area is large, carpeted and is bearable even when the heat and humidity of the summer emerge. There are plenty of spots to camp and trees to find shade under... it kind of gives the vibe of a really sweet campground.

There are plenty of coaches readily available and folks you can always find to fly with whether you plan it out or find someone to jump with on the way to the plane. They are organized when it comes to loading groups in the plane, exit space, and overall canopy/landing safety. Everyone stresses it to ensure there are no mistakes and everyone is safe and aware.

The list goes on but I will stop! I am thrilled I found a jumping home at STF and simply cannot wait til the Team One Good Vibes 2009 starts in May!

Hans runs this place amazingly. He will do whatever he needs to get you in the air, whether you have 3000 jumps or none.

Good fun day (Friday) at The Farm. Hans and the crew are great and very friendly. Excellent rigging loft and huge hangar for packing. Facilities are decent but a little run down. There is also a short bus ride to the airport if they are not taking off from the grass runway. Very sociable group and no little ego/cliques :)

the farm was the 17th dropzone i traveled to since i started skydiving, and despite having been to some of the so called best dz's in the country, i still call the farm my home and favorite place to jump. when i arrived on a wednesday afternoon i was greeted by the staff with open arms and was encouraged to get my gear ready and start jumping immediately. i made one solo skydive because i fly a wingsuit, but it only took that one solo before i had people coming up to me inviting me to join them on a jump. the family atmosphere at this dz is almost unrivaled, and no matter what your experience level you are guaranteed to find people to learn from and have fun with. the professionalism of the staff is top notch and i was immediately inclined to return and join the staff for the latter part of the season. i moved up from florida to the dz to work for a month as a packer, and that month became 4 followed by a severe depression when i had to finally leave. hans paulsen has stated in parachutist magazine that people come to the farm and stay for years, and you really have to experience the place for yourself to fully understand how accurate that statement is. whether you are coming out for a tandem, aff, or just to make new friends to jump with you will find no better place in the entire state, and it is more than worth traveling from out of state to be apart of the magic that makes the farm one of the highest rated dz's in the country (courtesy of dz.com) CAN"T WAIT TO RETURN!

I have nothing but great things to say about Skydive the Farm / Chuting Star Rigging Loft. I went in never even having done a tandem, and completed my AFF and am on my way to my A license. The training is laid back, but complete and very effective. The DZO made certain I was comfortable with my training and that I got on the loads when I neeed to.

I can't wait to get back there to finish out my A and to just jump in warmer weather!

AMAZING DZ. Hans the DZO and his wife sandy rock and the rest of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Packers have a great attitude . Everyone is there to help and the instructors are top-notch. No major complaints with this dz, pretty much everyone is friendly and helpful. On site rigging by Mike G at chuting star makes it a one stop shop. Safety is first here which is extremely comforting. The landing area is huge, flat, smooth and easy to spot from the air. I don't jump there as much as I would like to because its a 2.5 hour drive for me but as spring and summer approach I'll be out there more. Visit, you wont be disappointed.

After completing my AFF at Raeford. The military moved me away from FT Bragg to south Alabama. I have been to pretty much all the local Dropzones (within 4 hrs)and not one of them compares to the Farm! Hans and Sandy are awesome! Mike over at chuting star has helped me out on repacks/ inspections, and with ordering a new freebag from a line over I packed myself. Everyone at this dropzone are true professionals! Awesome huge landing area... 2 swoop ponds... room for indoor packing no matter how busy it gets. I have stayed in the bunkhouse as well as camped on site with no issues. I even brought my wife and 2yr old daughter up for a weekend and they both had a blast... Sandy put up one of those bouncy castle things for the kids. The only issue I had with the place is that the lz can be hard to spot from altitude due to no Runway to make it stand out from the rest of the Fields. But the easy fix for that is to jump there more and I plan on doing that! I love this place!

I love this place, I've jumped quite a few other places in my one year of skydiving, but every time I jump somewhere I wish I was jumping at STF. I did my first jump AFF level 1 at ASC and was instantly addicted to altitude but certainly not ASC. I moved to STF for the rest of my AFF and A License, they were so helpful and everything I couldn't believe it, and great pricing on A license Package, Hans was nice enough to give me some free jumps because I had already done AFF Level 1.

Coach jumps were always available, most of the time people wouldn't charge me for them or anything they'd just be like "Hey wanna jump? What do you need to work on I'll help you out with no problem” Everyone there made me feel like home. Mike G. on site there with Chutting Star makes it a true one stop shop, I got all of my gear there and Hans the DZO was never to busy to help me with any questions and help me find a cheap very nice main and reserve because I was still very new at the time, and still am.

I couldn't ask for a better dropzone although I with they'd move to Augusta or I could move to Rockmart. Please swing by STF and give them a try, it'll be your new home!

I stayed for 3days last summer. The Farm had great facilities as long as the bunkhouse wasn't too full. Mike Mullins King Air was visiting for the weekend and I was made very welcome by all the staff. There was even free coaching. I had a great time and would recommend it to anyone.

Been out of the sport for 10 years, and chose Skydive the Farm as the DZ to get back in the groove. Was pretty nervous about it and felt like a total noob. However, EVERYONE at STF made me feel like a member of the family.

Andy gave me a GREAT refresher course. Very laid back and informal but very thorough.

Warren and Sandy took me up for my recurrency dive and could not have been more encouraging and safety conscious. Sandy must've checked my gear three times before I left the aircraft.

Hans, the DZO, though bombarded with tandems and the hectic business of the day, was never too busy to talk.

STF is also the most beautiful drop zone I've ever seen. 55 acres of gorgeous, North Georgia land. Huge landing area. Reminded me of LZ Falcon at Camp Lejeune.

Had such an awesome time, I jumped twice more after completing my recurrency jump. The vibe at STF is the coolest I've ever seen. Everyone just seems like one big family.

It's a two hour drive for me, but Skydive the Farm IS my new home drop zone.

1st time jumper and I created an account just to post how great this place was - I went with a group of friends and had a fantastic time.

Great vibe, people were friendly all around. Mike and John were awesome - walked me through everything before it happened and kept me very comfortable from beginning to end.

I highly recommend getting a video for the first timer. John was really great. they also add a collection of photos based on video freeze frames which is a nice touch.

This was my first tandem jump, and I was thrilled! Kevin and SkyDave were great! I loved the relaxed atmosphere. Nice open spaces, good food available. I wanted to go again right after my first jump (I hadn't booked a second), but unfortunately they were so busy that they couldn't squeeze me in. That's not a bad thing, though - it just means they're a great place to jump! I'll definitely be back. Be sure to check out the reviews of the other places in Georgia.. some of them are shady. The reviews for SkydiveTheFarm are great, and after having been there, they're definitely true!

Hans and Sandy are first class and run a first class operation. I started out with a Tandem to get my feet wet. Big mistake, I was hooked. I then went through the aff in two weekends. Great dropzone with great people to back it up. Big thanks to R G, Andy, Jesse, and Jack. Safety was never a concern to me. Top notch.

This is the 3rd DZ I've been to and is by far the best. The facilities were exceptional and the staff was friendly (not snobby like I have seen at other dzs). This was my 4th jump, and though I was going tandem, my tandem master really took the time to educate me and let me play an active part in the jump (i.e. pulling the rip cord, steering, landing). He gave me information and encouraged me to come back for the AFF course. I took my boyfriend with me (it was his first time) and he is ready to go back. Overall, it was a great experience at Skydive The Farm.

My 19 year old and I each did our first tandem jump at Skydive The Farm yesterday. From start to finish it was an awesome experience. Hans was accessible throughout, the gang from STF was welcoming and attentive and made us feel special. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. My instructor was extremely professional yet he and all involved never forgot to have fun. Come prepared to have fun and be sure to bring your sense of humor.

If you are thinking of making your first jump, especially if you are a bit of a 'worrier' 1) just do it, you can't imagine the thrill 2) do it with STF 3) make sure to get the video - i would have really regretted no doing it.

To sum it up, as my son and I were walking to the car afterward I told him, "I just can't imagine it being any better than this!"

First thing I have to say is the town of Rockmart was real nice. The drop zone was huge. Twin Otter made my usual C-182s appear sick.I wish the rating scale went from 1 to 10 because this place is a 10+.Everybody talks to everybody. I have done 1 tandem and 3 static line jumps before deciding on doing a level 1 AFF. Instructors seemed like friends. Safety 1st -fun 2nd. My 62 year old mother did a tandem(1st) here on same plane up as me.It amazed me her hanging out and talking with 18 year olds.People go out of their way to accommodate you.Equipment and facility was as good as it gets.Free bunk house you can stay in if the weather turns out bad.My mother who isn't really into skydiving didn't want to leave. They want to make you a skydiver. My instructor Sandy was still jumping when she was 8 months pregnant. My mom and me thought that was cool.I felt like I could handle any problem that came my way after training. Thanks Andy,Frank and Sandy. If you live far away and cant come back they even suggest good drop zones closer to where you live. They just want you to skydive and have fun. I cant see me jumping anywhere else though.Jump HERE if you ever get the chance, you wont regret it and time/money permitting I will be back-it sure beats Six Flags. STF gave me one of the best days of my life-right behind the birth of my children. If they don't make you happy no one will.
