If you're ever in the Atlanta area be sure not to miss a chance to jump at STF! The Otter is magnificent. I was a lone visiting jumper and I was welcomed quite well. Jackhammer showed me around and explained the landing patterns. Big Steve (S&TA) gave me some pointers and sounded extremely safety oriented and always ready to help. Hans, the DZO made it a point between the 5 million things he was doing to seek out the guys he did not recognize and introduce himself and make sure the visitors were very well taken care of.
There were very many tandems the day I was there, but there was never any talk of bumping people, no matter what. Unless of course Sunman was doing a fun jump and they needed him to do video for one of the tandems. Sunman was very entertaining, but when it came to the jump he was very professional and organized the loading and exiting of jumpers. That yellow and blue is Great!!
Oh, and Mike G at ChutingStar is one of a kind!!

Can't wait to visit family in ATL again sometime very soon!

If you are in the Atlanta area then you owe it to yourself to take the drive out to Skydive The Farm. This is great DZ. When I showed up here the DZO went out of his way to make me feel at home. The jumpers are great and I had no difficulty finding people to jump with. This is an all around excellent dropzone.

My first experience with The Farm was trying to book a tandem for two buddies for a bachelor party. Hans really went the extra mile in getting us up before noon on a Friday in the Super Otter. We stayed in contact in the days leading up to it because of questionable weather (and pitiful forecasting). Turns out Hans is a better weatherman than the weathermen :) He made a promise he would get us up before the bad weather, and he did, even with a load of only 8 in a plane that holds 23. I was impressed that he would do that for us, especially with my home DZ being elsewhere. My buddies had a great time on their tandems, good video and pics. I did a two way with a random girl jumper, and we had a blast.

Needed water training, the guys jumped in the freezing cold pond with me and knocked it out. They didn't expect or ask for any sort of payment, so they got two cases of beer ; ) I was floored by the willingness of the staff to bend over backwards to help out visiting jumpers.

Also, as an outside jumper, I felt included and accepted as soon as I came back to fun jump. I never did a solo jump without someone offering to get me in their group. People were very willing to go out of their way to include others. Believe me, that's not the case at every DZ.

Everyone had a great time on the dives, and while hanging at the DZ. The rigging loft was impressive, and the layout of the DZ was nice.

One warning though, new jumpers take care when landing here. There are trees around the LZ, and if you try to land by the hanger, you'll be in trouble. Better to park it out in the open and walk than get caught in a tree! The good news, they've always got a truck puttering around to pick up jumpers.

Despite that one concern, it's a great place to jump, great facilities, planes, and incredible people. I liked it so much, I'm seriously considering making Skydive The Farm my new home DZ.

I travel a lot for work and try to find places to jump everywhere I go. I have been to 8 drop zones in 2008. This place is just the best. Everyone that I have run into down there just goes out of there way to make you feel welcome and help out.

The DZ is just huge. Tons of green soft grass in the landing area. Two big swoop ponds. Huge hanger with nice padded packing area. Packers are fast and friendly if you don't want to pack your own. Full time gear store and great rigging loft with a very helpful staff.

They have a very nice Super Otter now and that thing gets up fast. They go to 14k in the Otter so you really get you monies worth out of your jump tickets.

I cannot wait to get back down there and jump at STF again.

Check it out, you will be glad you did!

I wanted to start my Advanced Freefall training but haven't been to many DZ around GA. I have heard a lot of good things about STF but I'm the type that needs to find out for myself and so yeah, everyone was right. It really is an awesome DZ which I will continue to get my jumps from.

When I arrived at STF the DZ was Freakin' HUGE. They have two large Swoop ponds, the DZ was well kept, very clean, and did I mention it was huge?

The staff was very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. They really made it seem like the most important thing, other than safety, was that everyone was having fun. Everyone seemed like they wanted to be there, not like they were at work and had to be there. They were very accommodating and when I left I felt like I made some awesome friends. I look forward to returning and continue jumping with them.

I was nervous about my first skydive, as I was completing my first AFF level 1 training/jump. After completing a day of training with Andy (who COMPLETELY rocks!!), I felt 100% confident that I'd been trained well. While a super fun day of training (which is a tough momentum to keep up for 8 hours!), the focus on safety really gave me confidence in what I was about to attempt. My fear was still there, but I was confident in what I'd been taught, as well as in the expertise of my instructors & safety of the equipment. I wouldn't have jumped on Saturday had I not been so confident in my trainer & instructors.
It was the most amazing experience I have had thus far in my life, and I am SO thankful to Andy, Mike G, & Val for making that happen for me! You guys kick some serious hiney!

I've been going to The Farm on & off for over a year. It's certainly the closest dz to me, but well worth the drive. I could go months, but shortly after arriving I feel right at home. Jumpers of all levels greet you and welcome you into their jumps. High level jumpers are extremely enthusiastic to share their skills and jump with low-# jumpers. Low number jumpers aren't intimidated or 'lost' in the shuffle. An awesome, friendly atmosphere, very embracing people, dog & children friendly, great facilities for showering, camping or just hanging out.

I've been hearing about my sister's new hobby and frankly, it scared the hell out of me! I worried for her constantly. So, she took me to her local dropzone for a tandem. I was BLOWN away!! I can see now why she does it every week and visits as many dropzones as possible when she travels. The people at Skydive The Farm were so warm and friendly. I lost all fear the minute we left the plane and my breath was taken away under canopy. The view was amazing! The 2 ponds were glistening under the sun with a backdrop of the surrounding forest in a kaleidoscope of autumn colors. I haven't felt so serene and lifted as I felt that day a 1000ft in the air. After the skydive, the staff were eager to share their experiences and love for the sport. It was definitely contagious! I can understand now why my sister loves skydiving and her peers so much. My experience at Skydive The Farm was one of a kind and is burned in my memory as an all time favorite!!!

I went yesterday for my 2nd tandem. I was told over the phone ( at 10am ) that they were already jumping. I made the 2 hour drive, once I got there at noon, they said that it would be 4 hours until they would take the first group up. Well at 5:30pm the first group went up. I was on the 5th ( next to last ) group to go up. So much for my reservation! I was sent to the shuttle without a jumpsuit, no altimeter, or tandem harness. On the shuttle, I got my harness on and briefed. Once at the airport, I asked who was my videographer ( which I paid $80 bucks for ), and there wasn't one scheduled to go. After 20 minute wait at the airport, Someone finally showed up. Had a great dive. Once on the ground it took another 2 hours for the crappy 3 minute video since half of everything was missed.
What a waste of a day.

Update::::
I just got off the phone with Hans. He explained to me that not everyone gets a suit, and tandem students do not get an altimeter. This comes from my past experience of getting them. He also explained that I was ( moved up ) in the line of tandems. I was unaware of this. He explained that I may not have even jumped at all if that didn't happen. He did inform me though that my review dropped his overall ranking from 1st-3rd, which was his reason to call me. Also he informed me that the 15-20 minutes at the airport waiting for the videographer costed him over $1000 in fuel.
He has offered a free skydive for exchange to change my review. I will change the review but not accept the invite.

This place is simply great! This place is NOT clickish at at. Everyone is so nice. From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcome. Hans came right up to me and introduced himself as the owner. Sandy his wife also so nice and cheerful. The entire staff was pleasant and inviting! There was not a single person with an attitude. I got the feeling that it was not all about the money, it was about the fun and enjoyment of jumping. People were so quick to lend jumpsuits or anything that anyone needed. The packers were fast and helpful and always cheerful. The staff and all the people were just so easy to talk to and everyone was just so eager to help in any way they could. I was only there 1 day but I didnt want to leave. I could have easily stayed a month or the rest of my life! I feel like I could call these people my friends! This is a fantastic place if you want to make some real friends but are nervous about trying a new DZ. You wont feel intimidated by these people at all.

My sister convinced me to make a skydive and against my better judgment, I tagged along. It turned out to be the best part of my trip to the Atlanta area. My tandem instructor was professional and turned the most scariest moment of my life into the most unforgettable! I have the worst fear of heights thus jumping out of an airplane is unimaginable. However, once we left the plane I felt like a superhero! For those of you who think you can't do it, visit The Farm. They made me feel secure and most importantly, safe.I'm invincible now!

The farm is a great place to skydive. The staff and regulars make you feel welcome at all times. Plenty of landing area, including swoop ponds, and even a few horse pastures outside the area in which I have managed to hit, lol. Large 23 slot Otter, and a Cesna on the way, you can jump all day. Large hanger plenty of room. Did my entire AFF in two days, would recommend to everyone!

This is by far the best dropzone for up-jumpers that I have been to, and I've been to quite a few DZ's. Hans is awesome, he makes sure everyone is taken care of and finds people to jump with. Along with the bizillion other things he does. The landing area is huge, I love how they separate the swoopers and how clear-cut the landing pattern is. They run specials once a month...it's now $18 jumps and $139 tandems. Still the best prices anywhere around here.

My *only* complaint is all the dogs in the packing area. Hans says this will change when they get new carpet.

I love the Farm!

I made my first jump this weekend and choose to do the AFF class at The Farm. I don't have a lot to compare it to since this was my first jump and only the second DZ I've been too. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Not ego-centric attitude (with the exception of Blaine, of course, but he knows that) :-) I learned everything I needed and then some for jump 1 and plan to return in a few weeks for level 2. The whole place is relaxed and the scenery is beautiful. Nothing but farms and trees as far as you can see. 2 thumbs up!

The Farm is great. Everyone there is so friendly and respectful. Many people are drawn away by the 10 minute bus ride, but I find that I can do more jumping there than in Thomaston. Sure, you don't have to shuttle in Thomaston, but when every load is a shut down, and you can only manifest on half, it's simple math.
The Farm is a safe place to swoop with 2 ponds. S&TA "Big Steve" does an excellent job keeping all jumpers flying consistant landing patterns. I bring all my friends there because tandem prices are the lowest in Georgia, and unlike other unnamed dz's (ASC!) students get exactly what they pay for with no tricks, scams, or deceptions. And since we're not on an airport, we have parties, light bonfires, shoot off fireworks, ride dirtbikes, and shoot guns (all in the name of safety).

Skydive The Farm ROCKS! Excellent staff, a giant field to land in, 2 ponds, big hanger to pack in, plenty of space to camp, and lots of entertainment after dark!

Great place for tandems, AFF students, freefliers, bellyfliers, beginners and professionals, everyone is welcome and treated as family!

I was on a biz trip in the Atlanta region along with my wife this past week and we both brought our rigs along to keep us company. We stopped in at The Farm for a day of jumping and had a great time. They were in between turbines (had recently sold the caravan and were awaiting their new twin otter), but even using the small Cessna was fun!! Nice landing area, friendly people, talking parrot (which every DZ should have), and an overall great vibe. Stop in and see Mike at Chuting Star as he is a great guy to talk to about everything rigging. I wish this was my home DZ....

The people are what make this place great!! Hans, the DZO, is awesome. He'll do anything for ya and keep a smile on your face the whole day. I did my AFF course here as well as A-License and everyone treated me as part of the family. Short bus ride to the airport is fun, nice g.caravan, and huge landing area. Also has a rigging loft next door, Mike G. of Chuting Star--one of the best in the biz. Thanks Farm Crew!

Cheers, Bill Cenna

Grew up around the sport and DZs. This one is near the top of my list. Finally decided to go for a license and everyone here is very friendly and helpful. I only wish it wasn't a two hour drive for me.
