Over the years, Skydive DeLand has been home to countless legendary National and World Champions and record holders. We established a unique environment to support the advancement of training for beginners and competitors. In doing so, DeLand became the center for serious competitive teams, a number of which became world champions, and a popular host DZ for numerous State, National, and World Record setting formation skydives, beginning with the first 72-person formation in 1983.

Our normal everyday activities include introducing newcomers to the sport through the Tandem and AFF programs and serving our local and traveling fun jumpers and coaches. We also host and support a variety of events and training programs such as Fly4Life warm up camps and FlightCamps, canopy courses through Flight-1 and Alter Ego, personal coaching through Tribu, wingsuit rentals and coaching through Arcus Flight, and multiple-plane high-altitude formation skydiving events.

We are open 365 days a year!

I drove a short two hours to Deland with my girlfriend because the weather was going to be bad in my location all weekend. The winds were high on the day I arrived so I sat it out checking the place over to get a feel of the people and the vibe. My girlfriend and I chilled in the Perfect Spot drinking a few cold ones and had a great time just talking to who ever came along.

The next day I showed up ready to go and the staff were nothing short of excellent. I was able to get a packer squared away before my jump and I was able to go up any time I wanted because they had two Otters going all day long. My girlfriend didnt even jump and she had a great time soaking up the sun, reading her book and watching the steady flow of parachutes dancing in the air all day long. Needless to say Im going to be back again and again and again..........

After the fog cleared we got in three jumps from 13,500. All of the staff was very helpful, and offered BOC training to my partner (free of charge). We loved the twin otter. Comming from an Oregon Cessna drop zone, we were spoiled with the Florida sun and the fast climb to altitude. Busy, but well worth the trip!

I have just started jumping and doing my AFF. I received first class tution and my first few dives so far have been out of this world. I felt confident in my instructors. They have some awsome camera men and the one who filmed me and took pictues made such a great job.

Weather is always good here and the plane does load quite fast but it is possible to get a few jumps in quickly.

The packers are knowledgeable and fast ensuring you get a fast turnaround.

Taste the food in the Perfect Spot and you wont regret it. Food here rocks and the service is so polite and fast.

I am lucky to live across the road from the DZ but for those of you who are not so close come to Deland and expect an awsome time with your new family.

Every experience is what you make of it, if you have a bad one here, take a good look at your contribution to the situation.
This DZ is great, freefly coaches and canopy coaches are everywhere, and nearly everyone is friendly. Outsiders are always welcome here with a smile. You can walk up to anyone and start a conversation. This is one big family here always with room to expand.
Skydive DeLand has it all, for every level. This is a place where you can walk up to any 'skydiving' legend, and they are more than happy to visit with you and share their jumping experiences.

Skydive Deland is open 365 days a year, they have 3 awesome planes, a very good restaurant (new cook/management). Extra special attention to teams so if your on a team this is the place to go. Freefly coaching from some of the best in the world with the freedom of flight school. I reccomend the winter if you visit. Planes fly all summer long all day, but you will have a much more rememberable experience in the winter when Deland is at its peak.

I went for my first skydive at DeLand - it was a tandem with Nat as my tandem master. I realize now how critical this first exposure to skydiving was, and Nat totally made it a great time. I think my decision to continue in the sport and start my training speaks for itself. Next time I'm in the Daytona area I will definitely be back.

Last time I was there which was recently. They were asking people to sign a sheet to see how many skydivers would be interested in going to 18k. It would appear they are going to start 18k jumps. Go sign up!

I went to deland with awesome directions some gave over the phone . This place is very professional and I have meet a lot of cool people here to jump with and to associate with. These people here are awesome. Very Pleased. I just wished I lived closer to the DZ. skydive Deland is always busy and usually always has great weather. Not only that but they might starting jumping at 18k. No reason to jump any where else in my opinion if you live fairly close to the DZ

When I arrived the RV park was full, but they found a place for me to park and would not charge for it. Then they gave me an orientation tour and explained their system. The planes stayed busy because of team jumps and assured space for me. One non-team jumper made 20 jumps a day for several days (PD tests). You can get in the jumps if you want to.

I liked the computer manifest screens. You can always tell where you stand. I was allowed to get out low when I wanted to work on my PRO accuracy and the S&TA observed from manifest. Easiest PRO jumps I ever made. (Yes, I missed one but not the fault of the DZ.)

I walked the DZ and observed grippers on suits vs no grippers and knew who to approach about jumping with me. The teams have uniform outfits and are obvious. I had no problem getting in 4 jumps a day with 3 to 5 others with similar interests. (I could have made more.) I did have to ask around for them, but big deal.

Oh yes, take your notebook computer, the restaurant has a wireless internet link.

Well, if you visit FL, I highly recommend making a stop in DeLand. There are great people on staff for training such as the Freedom of Flight staff for freefly coaching (Jimmy Tranter, Paxton Vinyard, Rickster Powell) and Scott Miller's canopy control expertise/courses. Ray Dutch provides BirdMan instruction and is always willing to take up new students or find another highly qualified BMI to do the job.

There is at least one plane flying if not two. There is little problem gettin on a load at any time of day. Everyone there is willing to work with you to organize a jump for you. I had 9 people partake in my B-day jump and it was amazing! One jumper I asked was more than willing to organize the dive and I had never met him previous.

Friendly atmosphere, great on site facilities such as food, bar, team rooms make DeLand a premier dz in FL. Stop by and visit for a memorable trip and jump.

I have heard people say something about Deland being a Team oriented DZ and that a solo person will not find people to jump with.

Nere was my experience. This place is certainly team oriented. Lots of teams working their four way dives. But there are plenty of people there who fun jump. You just have to look around. I went to manifest and asked if they could help me find some people to jump with. They made an announcement about a visiting jumper looking for people to jump with and two showed up. As the day went on a fourth person joined out group. We had a great time. The staff are friendly and eager to help you enjoy your time there.

They have an Otter, a porter and a Skyvan and the loads were non stop. The packers were friendly, professional and damn good at what they do.

Deland is what it is and it is what you make of it in your time there. Go there with the attitude that there is nothing there and you will find nothing. Go there with a open mind and seek out fun jumpers and you will find them.

Plus they have the Restaurant and Bar with skydiving video playing all the time and free internet access for the days when the weather does not co-operate and you want to whore around DZ.com.

i'm a new diver, 25 jumps when i went there, and think this is the mecca from my limited experience. every one was so nice to me and made me feel so comfortable. i loved the sky van exits. real experienced divers kept inviting me to jump with them in line to the plane and sometimes on the plane. people kept on telling me new shit to try and it was all fun. they efinately follow the 2 most important rles in sky diving. be safe and have fun. no attitudes at all.

I'm slightly biased as most people here are friendly! I'm most way through a 3-month stint here at SkyDive Deland. The teaching and coaching opportunities are great for people wishing to hone their skills.

I have been helped by the Gear Store to choose a safe, appropriate and quality rig with all the trimmings. Kit hire is available and the shop rents and sells all the modern stuff. The DZ also made it worthwhile financially for me to purchase through their dealership, so if you're here to buy a rig, ask for a deal (especially if you are renting short-term). PD, Merlin Suits, Relative Workshops and other dealer outlets are within walking distance, and you can go visit these places, get measured up and even get factory tours!! You get the feeling that everyone knows everyone, so it isn't hard to get advice or guidance if you're visiting alone.

I also like their restaurant bar "The Perfect Spot". This is a popular place to hang out during the day and in the evening, it has a good stock of beer and has a 'free' wireless Internet access point(plus AppleMac terminals if you put a $ in their jar each time).

There is also an area for tents and most people know someone who has cheap accomm. for a few nights or even a few weeks (usually about $15 a night). There are laundry facilities for $1 a time and clean showers and restrooms. The bunkhouse is small and has six beds.

The packers are helpful and fast, and the loads are consistent and from three aircraft types: Twin Otter, SkyVan and Porter. The spotting is very good and the pilots are approachable.

The people who visit are usually passing through or on a training programme. Yet, most people I have come across are happy, lively and good people to be around. I can't really think of anything bad or negative to say, other than they might get more interest from fun jumpers like me if the load organising was more frequent for the non-competitive ones among us!

You can email me for more information if you need contacts or further advice. Good luck on your next visit.

I have been to Skydive DeLand 3 times now, for a week or two each time. Two of my trips were for team training which we couldn't have asked for better coaching, quicker turn-arounds etc as it was great, at the end of each day, I had forgotten how many jumps I had done :o)
The staff and coaches were fantastic and it is by far the most professional DZ I have ever been to. On my other trip there I was doing some coaching jumps with Majik (those guys rock!), I also did some canopy coaching with Scott MIller (awesome). The only downside was that once I had done all that, I couldn't find anyone to jump with as most people had their own thing going on, so for people just wanting a holiday with some fun jumping, I would perhaps be inclined to recommend Skydive Sebastian or Lake Wales as a fun friendly place with a relaxed atmosphere etc. But for any type of coaching or training, then Skydive Deland is perfect. I am sure to be back there again soon!

I have done about 200 jumps at deland. From jump number 1 to 200, i cannont think of a day that there wasnt something to do there. There are amazing people to jump with and train with. You can learn canopy, rw, freefly and wingsuit while you are there. They have 3 awsome planes!
If anyone is every there, and cant find something to do...your not asking for it! Talk to people there, at first they may look professional because most people there want to be there and want to jump so much, but on my first AFF jump, even the Majik decided to give me a high five and told me not to forget to arch...cant beat that. Id love for some professional basketball team to go to a highschool and give pointers to them...aint gonna happen!
If your ever in deland! im sure u will find me there

Awsome DZ, I learned to jump in Arizaona and moved out here for school and its great. This place is just like my DZ back home so I guess I'm used to it being pretty big. The Separate landing areas is a definate plus.

The coaching was excellent and they really helped me learn the ropes and get used to the DZ.

Great place for new and old skydivers alike.

I was very impressed with the safety conscious attitude at Deland. The first day I went there to jump, the winds were cranking. They put a hold on jumpers due to winds - you had to have 200 jumps (D license) to jump. That really impressed me. Wasn't comfortable with the multiple active runways.

January 2000 was my first time in Deland. I travelled from Greece and I found nice friendly people that helped me to progress. Hallet and his staff is awesome. Also with all these manufacturers in the surrounding area you will always have the opportunity to ask some "genious". All that years I am always returning to Deland because its the place to be.
Facilities are very good and comfortable.
See you there!!!

This place may be world famous but the people are not very accomodating unless you have 5,000 jumps! If you are inexperienced or just prefer a laid-back atmosphere, do not choose Deland! If you want to make as many jumps as possible, then this is the place. There are a few people at Deland who are quite nice but for the most part, it is just bad vibes and safety is compromised as well.

Wow, what a place. Went to Deland thinking it was going to be flat teams only!! How wrong. Sure it is team heaven and lots of teams training, but there are also fun jumpers and a good freefly scene. We were there for freeflying and loved it. Run very professionally, there is a real feel that the people jumping there came to get better. Different to ZHills, but me and my mate came away very impressed indeed. Also great tunnel flyer coaches located there, and Orlando is only 50 mins away. We'll be back soon!

Skydive Deland is a Premiere Dropzone with great planes. The airport has many area's to land from the expirenced more tighter area to the really large student areas. If you are planning to land in the larger areas let manifest know and they will send the truck out to get you.

You can premanifest for the entire day which is great for teams. Coaching there is the best in the entire country, as you have World Champions Deland Majik, and many other very expirenced teams that train there. They also have some of the best freeflyers that are very safty concious. The school of canopy flight is also very good in helping you either to start learning your canopy or to start laying out those monster swoops safely.

If you are a fresh off AFF status coming in alone you will probably not like the dropzone because of the professional nature of the DZ and the jumpers there. There are other DZs that are more laid back and easier to get on loads with people.

6 out of 5 :) DZ is great. They are always happy to see us when we come down.
