I have been visiting the drop zone several years around thanksgiving. In the past it has been a great place to skydive when TK used to organize things.

The last two years have been a disappointment considering it was the best place to do a skydive vacation during our cold and dark winters in northern Europe.

Things that I consider that could be improved to make Skydive City great again.

The packing area could be cleaner: There are some spots where sand is transferred inside the packing area when jumpers walk back from the landing-area. That could solved by covering the lose soil whit something like old carpets, tiles ect. More sand in the packing area than in many desert dropzones.

Information about upcoming events on the calendar on their web page: last year i brought my night jump equipment whit me because the calendar had the mention of night jumps. Had my 1.2 kg lights whit me but it was not organised. This year there was no mention in the calendar but there was night jumps on two occasions. And there could be more light on the landing.

There used to be one person cooking in the kitchen, the coffee and food served was good. Now there are three people in the kitchen. => Prices are double an the quality is quite poor. Why?

Jump ticket prices have increased and are currently 26$ not the 25$ stated above or the 21$ that it used to be. I do not mind the price but would appreciate clean packing space and free organizing.

There are less organizers that there used to be, and the free organizing does not work the way it used to. And some of the local jumpers that I used to jump whit are less active or gone, and they are kind of disappointed on how things are.

The last couple of visits there has been less loads going up and more space in the packing area.

If you consider renting a trailer the ones that we have used had some mold and smell issues and could have been cleaner.

I still consider this drop-zone one of the best places to skydive during winter time considering the overall picture, and it could be on the top whit some improvements.

I first visited Skydive City as a super noob and quickly found that there were plenty of regulars willing to show me the ropes, no judgement. Received lots of free coaching, constructive criticism, and really felt a good vibe.

The Pirate Boogie had some great organizers for 4-way scrambles, huge wing suit flocks, lots of bigways, and plenty of two-way coach jumps. They run 3 Otters, often back to back to back and do night jumps and even high altitude jumps(22K feet).

The evening atmosphere was always a blast with cheap drinks and team tournaments or games every night including cornhole, jumbo Jenga(crowd pleader), drunken Dodgeball, casino night, treasure hunts etc... And this was all kicked off by an all-you-can-eat home cooked meal nightly.

All in all it was such a great experience my first year, I had no choice but to disappoint my family and disappear to Florida for a second year in a row this xmas.

If you haven't been, what are you waiting for?

So I have been all over the place for Skydiving! I have jumped all around New York and Upstate New York, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, Hawaii, Florida and the Keys, Alaska, Cananda, and Califorina.

Zhills has it all! They Welcome everyone and safety is big. They also are available for teaching. I live in Upstate New York and escape to Florida when the weather at home is too cold and snowy for jumping. I came down for a Boggie and then canceled my flights home because I had so much fun. I have been down 3 times this winter and also stopped at other dropzones in FL including Sebastian, JUMP Florida, Skydive Lake Whales, DeLand. Zhills is my favorite DZ because of such a great mix of people, vibe, aircraft, organizing, training, swoop pond ( I don't swoop yet but its fun to watch ). I did my water training here as well as my Flight 1 and 2 Canopy courses and B License requirements. Made my first Night jumps, Free Fly's, head-down flying, big-ways, and more importantly made lots of friends that I keep in touch with even though I am back in Buffalo.

The name say it all it truly is a "Skydive City" Zhills has great riggers, packers, staff to teach Tandems, AFF, Coaching, Advanced progression, Free Flying, Wingsuiting, and even obtain all or any ratings through Bram and his staff at Skydive Ratings which is on Site at Zhills.

When I' say the friendliest dz I've been we have to consider that I' was lucky to travel all around the USA and Italy, visiting the local dz and my home dz is Skydive Sebastian which is famous to be friendly, but, Z-Hills take the friendliness to the next level.
I' was there in may, a nice sunny and hot weekend and was simply nice.
The first jump was an 8-way - 4 points worth for my C Licence, than we had hoola-hoop jump, some 4 way and a little free-fly, than I' become a Muff Brother, a local tradition, which has a long history.
I' met a woman, which I' cannot remember her name, which look at me, wearing my Tonfly jumpsuit and another guy, and she took us head-down with her, what can I' say more?
Technically speaking, they run an Otter in summer, and up to 3 planes in cold season,
they have good packers, gear store, rigging service, swoop pound and a good bar to have a beer after jumping.
The only cons is the limited food service and the high humidity during the summer.
I' do raccomand it? YES>

Upon arrival, I was greeted professionally and given a tour and dropzone briefing. But being a visiting skydiver, only a few people were willing to talk to me, even just to make friendly conversation (but I've learned that is to be expected from dropzones that have been around for a long time). The organizers were more friendly and made sure I had people to jump with. My jumps required me to be out on the camera step on the otter, and not realizing that the step was angled toward the ground, I actually slipped off the step and fell before the rest of my group were able to set up in the door. On the other hand, they have great restroom/shower/laundry facilities that they keep clean and well-stocked as well as a pro shop. Elly (with the rating school) was very informative and answered my questions about taking some upcoming courses. There is plenty of room to set up a tent or bring an RV. All-in-all a good experience, other than the cliques and camera step.

The best drop-zone I have jumped yet. Friendly and professional staff members. The place has literally all you need, nice cover areas for personal packing, plenty of packers, bar, a cafeteria, multiple bathroom facilities with showers, lodging/trailer area for rent, master riggers on staff (Sally and Peter Paragone Rigging), nicer training classrooms, food court area, swoop pond, Cesnas, twin-otters, in conclusion, it has all you need in a drop-zone. I highly recommended it, and I have yet jumped in a better drop-zone.

Hadn't jumped in a long time and wanted to see if I still had it. Stopped in at DeLand--got some negative vibes so drove to Zhills. Much better.
However, great skydivers don't necessarily make great instructors. However, that said, lots of great folks there---well equipped gear store, good fast type food and cold beer in the bar. Rental gear was in great shape and the packers are first rate guys who know their business. Oh, btw, I still do have "it". TK manages a tight ship very well and I felt welcome. I will go back soon.

Love this place. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is super professional. Manifest is efficient, instructors/coaches are some of the best in the world, packing is awesome and fast, food is GREAT, facilities are old school with a cool vibe. You cannot go wrong with this place. Just bring a good attitude and a desire to jump!

I took a few days away from the (semi) cold North to try to get some jumps in Florida. Decided on Z-hills as my first stop. Very laid back atmosphere, nice sprawling airport, easy to locate LZ, good coaching, friendly people, nice pro shop, fast turnarounds on loads - no waiting...what more can you ask for? The rest of the weekend was a washout as far as weather goes, but I had a great day at Z-hills and would recommend it to anyone.

I am so happy I came to Zhills from a smaller, crappier dz. The attitude of the business is definitely out to make a buck, which is fine, but not at the cost of safety. Nothing like looking down under canopy, to see the landing pattern and seeing a spider web. The average fun jumper is friendly and nice, once you ask around. The load organizers are awesome about matching people up and about giving little tricks to make you better.

Some of the staff is really great (about 5%), the rest will either ignore you or treat you like shit. No dz is perfect, but this is a great dz to just "get away" to from your home dz.

I went to ZHills for the Christmas/New Years boogie last year and it was an absolute blast. Multiple Otters and the SkyVan turning, helicopter jumps, a gigantic landing area - it was quite the change from my home DZ.

The setup is great, the facilities are awesome, camping is free, fireworks, great bar, the food is amazing and two words for you: Pirate Ship. You have to see it to believe it.

If you can only take one trip down south this winter, check out the Christmas/New Years boogie at Zhills. You'll have a great time, pinky swear.

I stopped by for a couple of fun jumps on a weekday this summer when I was down that way visiting relatives. Nice place, seems to be well run. They had their waiver online so I was able to get that out of the way before I even arrived. And they also have a 5 page "DropZone Briefing" newsletter on their website that gave an excellent overview of the facilities, the LZ, and their usual procedures.

Folks were very friendly and welcoming, got me checked-in in no time, and got a solid briefing from Quinn, one of their instructors. I did a solo just to get myself familiar with the space and then a 2-way with another low timer before family duties ended my visit. Only con (minor) was the standing water in some of the landing area (but they recently had a lot of rain, and I wasn't gonna let a bit of water stop me).

I look forward to returning when I am visiting the area in the future.

Just returned from my first visit to an overseas dropzone and am nearly afraid to go anywhere else the experience was so good. There is a great relaxed vibe around skydive city with a focus on fun jumping, great organisers and skydivers who have been in sport for years. Also great coaching and training available. The food and bar is great and Orlando and Delande are only up the road. The new swoop pond is immense. I'd thoroughly recommend it and will be back when I get the chance.

Five more well deserved stars for Skydive City Zephyr Hills. I planned a trip to visit solo. Never knew a soul there prior. New A license fun jumper. Can't even begin to state the all positive vibe and overall experience of the people and the place. I very much hope to return.

Z-Hills is hands down the best drop zone I have ever been to. The environment is the first thing that stood out. Minus the abundance of big planes to jump from and loads of regular’s to jump with, you would think you are at a small Cessna drop zone. I don’t think I made it on to the plane once without someone asking me what I was planning to do on my jump and if they could join in. I feel like everyone’s mission at Z-Hills is to make sure you’re having a great time. There is an overwhelming amount of experience on the dz accompanied with tons of modesty. You would never know the person who is asking if they can “tag along” on your jump has 20,000 jumps unless you did some asking around.

Typically I never leave a drop zone dying to go back. Even if I have a great time I think about how many drop zones there are and get excite about seeing what else is out there…… I leave in 5 weeks for my second trip to Z-Hills and can’t wait. To summarize, the people are amazing and the facility is great. I took a course while I was there and loved it. I got to witness first hand how strict they can be with safety issues, which is great to see. It seems people head to z-hills for a vacation and tend to never leave, which is very reflective of a great owner who is truly passionate about his drop zone.

I recommend everyone check out Z-Hills for themselves. You won’t be disappointed!

I came to Z-Hills in January to learn how to skydive and get my A Licence. I was coming a long way so did a LOT of research on where would be the best place to learn. After the very quick email responses, information and advice received directly from the DZ manager TK, I chose Z-Hills. I am eternally grateful that I did.

First of all, I cannot stress how professional and safety orientated EVERYONE at the DZ is. This point didn't strike home until I visited another DZ. The guys at Z-Hills are first and foremost safety driven. This is evident from the first day of ground school all the way through to debriefing. Never once did I feel uncomfortable in the hands of an instructor or coach.

Their second priority is fun. The guys at Z-Hills really know how to enjoy the sport and have a good time once the sun sets! It's also amazing how much dedication everyone has to the sport and how open they are to new skydivers. I have never felt so welcome ANYWHERE in my live, not even in a church. Skydivers at Z-Hills LOVE new skydivers and everyone at the bar is always willing to give advice.

Everything about this DZ is fantastic. The aircraft, the astonishingly capable coaches and instructors, the awesome camera guys, the always friendly and beautiful manifest folk, the wonderful food (try the pressed cuban!), the professional packers (thanks for the lovely soft openings), the pilots and of course the mix of other fun jumpers that call this DZ home.

During my trip, I made 43 jumps here over 3 weeks. It was the best 3 weeks of my life and I am proud to call this my home dropzone, despite living half the world away.

Guys at Z-Hills, don't change a thing. You guys rock.

I've been to many DZ's all over....this is one of the best.

Not too serious, safe, cool!

I can't understand those clients who expect kindergarden assistance in one of the busiest periods of the year, on one of the busiest DZ's!?!?

come on!

Just go there....very cool!

I started my AFF course in the northeast but was only able to get to (but not pass) C1. Planned on doing one jump at Z hills but ended up completing my AFF and doing a solo jump as well.

I credit getting through it on the instructors being really positive and experienced. I jumped with Sally, Martin and Tommy Jr, while doing my re-currency course with Tommy Sr. All of them were awesome and helped my confidence immensely. There was a family feel to the whole place (literally).

The facilities were clean and it seemed well organized overall in my limited DZ experience.

Oh yeah drinking beer at the bar with all the harcore jumpers afterwards was a great experience as well.

Planning on going back in late Feb/March to work towards my A license.
I plan

I've been jumping there every Thursday for almost ten years. I have always found everyone to be friendly and helpful. On any given day you will be around someone doing their first jump or one of the legends of the sport with 20,000. They have excellent packers, numerous schools
covering everything from free flying to wingsuits and more that a few world class
videographers.

Wingsuit, head down, Crew or old fashion RW, you'll find what you're looking for at Skydive City.

On my very first visit I was invited on a load by load organizer Roy Harper and have enjoyed every minute I spend on his loads.

Deb and Laurie at manifest are always eager to help.

The guys at Nylon City are fast expert packers who have given me nothing but soft openings.

Thanks for being a great DZ.

Just spent a week down there and had the best New Year's Eve ever! The atmosphere is great, the people are quite friendly, and it's fun to hang out (there's no reason to leave the dropzone) which is nice because the surrounding area of Zephyrhills is a boring, run-down retirement community.
The food they have is delicious and decently priced, the camping is free, and they've got parachute packing for only $6.
The only downside to the whole experience was the filthy bathrooms. They could stand to be maintained better. Also, I recommend showering in the middle of the night (like 3 am) to get hot water.
This was my first time outside of my home dropzone, first time in big airplanes going above 10,500 feet. It was an incredible experience. I'm definitely planning to come back next winter!

Although the facility seems to enjoy a pretty good reputation, I was not impressed. Still being somewhat new to the sport, I was really confused with the arrogant attitudes displayed by the staff. Every one from the girls behind the counter to the packers, (who by the way 2 pack jobs on 2 consecutive loads had cutaways. Packs done by the staff crew). Will not be going back, the 2 days prior to jump at Z-hills were spent at Deland, and had a great time with them.
