I was at Skydive City for the first time this last March for the Z-team sequential jumps. This is my new favorite DZ! Anything you need to survive and jump is on the DZ. You literally NEVER have to go into town if you come relatively well prepaired. The staff of the DZ is friendly and competent. It is a real pleasure to jump in a place like this.

I have been skydiving for 1 year, now. What was originally going to be a one time solo jump has become a passion. Pretty amazing for someone in his 50's! I went thru AFF, got licensed and bought my own rig. I got hooked on skydiving because of the staff and facilities at Z Hills.

The drop zone is large and on a couple of jumps I had to use every bit of it. lol While I am a 'local' I used the camping facilities and was glad they were always clean!

I was thinking back to my experience last year while going thru AFF at Z Hills. If it weren't for Aaron Slocum, I don't think I would have gotten past AFF level 6. I was ready to walk away after failing. He is still a great resource for me.

Thanks to Bob Clark for great video of my friends who have done the tandem thing. Also, Bob continues to watch my approach and landings, giving me much needed advice.

I just love the office staff. They have been very friendly and helpful. Then again, I think I got them hooked on my salsa recipe! lol.....

Khan and the gang in the packing tent have been great. Not just with my packing lessons but in continuing to answer my many questions about my rig.

Sally, her staff of riggers and tunnel coachs helped me get past AFF level 6. They have been a great resource when I have questions about my rig, as well.

TK, the general manager, runs a very professional and safe drop zone. Kudos for running a business and keeping it fun and safe for me.

I did my AFF 1-7 here and was impressed with everyone's attitude. I'm new and not experienced, but I remain impressed with the set up.

This place and the crazy staff members Got me HOOKED! Since starting in January 07, it's my favorite place to be when I have extra time. The staff and facility are top noch. I've been told by many visitors from other parts of the world, we are spoiled - that we'll be disappointed when we do have to visit other DZ's. Come and join us!

Everyone is welcome from students to the experienced and if the planes are flying you can get on a load. Lots of organizers and you will become a better skydiver. Best time of the year is from September through April. Lots of planes and skydivers.

The first time I visited Z-Hills I was not all that impressed with Skydive City. There just didn't seem to be that much going on. The second time I visited I liked it a whole lot more. It didn't seem as cliquey and I had a lot of fun. I'll certainly be back this winter!

I pulled into Z-Hills at 1 AM after a 12 hour drive, staggered to the bonfire, and the first thing I heard was "Welcome dude...you want a beer?"

I knew this place was ok!

Got three freefly coach jumps from Pip and was sitting in two jumps! Friendly staff and rigger, easy drive from Tampa Airport. If you're in central Florida this is a must jump DZ!

This place was a blast. The vibe was that of a small time DZ but with big planes.
Just overall it was a great place to jump and you can learn anything you want at that place.

Manifest - awesome, friendly, helpful, very efficeint jumping system

Instructors - Typical CYA, etc..

Facilities - Old, ugly, spread out, but they work

Planes - Otters mostly, usually packed full

Services - Rigging was friendly and fast, but packers are extremely rude and seem opposed to being told to do anything

Packing - covered and carpeted, but old and needs replacing!

Vibe - cli

Awesome DZ...very friendly people....I rented a trailor on the DZ, and it was perfect for price... clean , functional and close to manifest!

Gear shops, suit factory and rigging services on site....very nice

Great food available all day and nice bar/events in the evening..

Chilled , laid back attitude but always felt safe here.

Had excellent freefly coaching off Pip Redvers (Total Body Pilot School)....excellent coaching, everything I needed, cant fault him for his ability , coaching and price....highly recommended.

Clean, tidy DZ ....its obviously very well loved....will definately return.

Skydive City in Zephyrhills Florida is truely one great DZ.

Where to begin?

The first thing you will notice about this DZ is it has a more than ample parking area. Which in turn is where the camping area/RV area is. And from there it only gets better.

There are several buildings on premesis here. The first closest to the parking/camping area would be the shower house. These are some of the best showering/bathroom facilities I have seen at any campground. Each shower room provides more than ample room to get changed in as well as most importantly providing privacy.

In thier manifest building there is also the Hard Dock cafe for those who might be a little hungery. There is also an ATM located at the manifest building. The manifest office is Air Conditioned, for those hot summer days. There is also computer access in manifest, so you can check out your emails without having to worry. Be kind please share the time after all if you are in manifest, shouldn't you be getting on a load or something.

Just off of the manifest building is a very nice shaded seating deck. This seating deck has a very nice view of the landing area, so when you are not on a load you can just chill out and watch the swoopers. Yes Skydive City has a swoop pond. They have some incredable pictures on thier web site. For he student the landing area has a huge arrow indicating wind dirrection, so you can always tell where you need to be with regards to your holding area on your canopy ride down.
Gear rental price for student gear from Skydive City itself is average, but for the more experianced skydiver you may want to demo a rig from the Sunshine factory.

The packing area is huge. So if you want to pack go ahead it is nice and carpeted. ANd if you are too lazy to pack yourself well then there is the packers tent as well.

They also have an air conditioned training room and other training areas for practicing that bigway you've allways wanted to get in on.

Even in thier "slow" summer seasion they have 2 Twin Otters which get you to 13.5k fast.

Even when there is no jumping going on there is enough nuttyness to keep you occupied.

If you make it to only one Dropzone on the East Coast of the US you have got to hit this one.

zhills is a full service dz. there are adequate shower facilities to accomodate anyone that plans to stay there for months at a time. camping is great. RV rental is available. there's a snack bar which serves breakfast, daily lunch specials, and dinner on occasion. there's a fully stocked beer bar with my favorite bartender. there is a rigging loft onsite with outstanding riggers, the owner of which is a current RW world champion. world reknown videographers. the student program is outstanding. AFF instructors AND AFF examiner onsite. the tunnel is close. the coaches are great. the organizers are plentiful. there are organizers for every level of skydiving and most are free. the skydiving is FUN. the dz houses 3 super otters in the winter, 1 in the summer. we have a helo alot of the time. the landing area is HUGE. there's almost always a bonfire. there are team rooms and a creeper pad. the only reason i "dinged" the location is because it's in the country...but hey, alot of people like that so it's not really that bad. :) it's a 40 minute drive to tampa int'l airport and 70 minute drive to orlando int'l airport. the people are very down to earth. did i say the skydives are fun? the people are close, but not cliquish. you'll leave with alot more friends than you started with. and...it's the home of the muff brothers and a resident hellfish or two. fireworks on most occasions...BIG fireworks. fun fundraising. community involvement. the DZM donates platelets every two weeks. people are always willing to help. it doesn't get much better than that. i think i covered most everything. ;) enjoy.

Z-Hills has it all, and if you want to skydive it's the place to be. You can basically live there. It is Skydive City. Pro Shop, Rigging Loft, Creeper Area, Large nice packing areas, snack bar with good food, bar, very large deck for spectators, nice people, and a huge landing area. If you go there you will say like McArthur " I Will Return."

Very cool place. Even the people at the gas station in town knew how to find the "dropped zone." Had a good time here and also bought a rig from the Sunshine Factory.

I was a little concerned to go with my coach to a new place, but Zhills was a nice place to do a jump away from your "comfort zone." Since I was with someone, and we met another friend, I didn't have to worry about finding someone with which to jump. Overall the groups seemed friendly, but most were paired up with others. There were some people asking around for groups, but it seemed like a hit or miss opportunity.
The landing area was nice and big, so I wasn't intimidated about making it to the DZ. The spot was good, and I had a great jump. The airplanes are great, but be prepared to be packed in like sardines!!! -- which of course you should expect in a very busy DZ -- business is business. Great place to visit and do some fun jumps.

I went over to Z-Hills early April 2005. My initial impressions were overwhelming as I turned up in the middle of a 120-way!

I managed 23 jumps over 4 days without a sweat with many being RW coached. The fun atmosphere combined with professionalism and friendliness really put a smile on my face during the whole trip.

After returning home I've really realised that Z-Hills is most definately my favourite DZ, ranging from the cafe to the load organisers and DZ shop all the services available are outstanding.

All the people there are fantastic and special thanks go out to Ron Hill, Dave Ruffell and Pip Redvers for making the trip so enjoyable!

off to the bank manager to get my overdraft extended.... ;-)

I had a chance to spend a week at Z-hills in Febuary and it was a blast! There were people there from everywhere. I was able to see all kinds of jumps from wingsuit to crw to killer pond swoops. Lots of experienced people for some really good rw jumps too. With all types of coaches on hand and lots of rigging and packing available, there is no reason that you cannot find someone to jump with ar get your gear squared away. Having an on site gear store with Tony Suit and Sun Path Products right down the road is great. Not to mention it is close enough to town to get a good meal or pick up some supplies you may have forgot before you got there. And if you choose to stick around the dz at night, there is a huge bonfire pit and a great little hut with plenty of videos and cold beer. While your in the hut be sure to say HI to Paul, and if your lucky he will show you some of his videos! If your not having fun or getting some really great jumps here, then you are not trying! Z-hills is a great place to be and now I can see why we keep losing all of our Northern jumpers! Try it you'll like it.

I have only been there once... So this is my first impression. I went there during there Turkey meet so this could be the reason for why it was so hard to get in on anything. It just seemed like I was bothering people whenever I would ask questions the first day I was there. I had went with my dad and my uncles so when they were doing Crew I was stuck by myself trying to meet new people. I guess if I had more than 100 jumps people might have considered jumping with me. I know at my home DZ we talk to all newcomers regardless of experiance level. We treat them like people not a jump number. I have to go back to ZHills on a normal day to see what it's like. I still love everyone so don't be mad I still gave it an overall good review.
