Jumped here for a couple of days. After having seen other more popular DZs in Florida - I knew that this is the place to be! Everyone there (from manifest, packers, coaches to the pilot) is incredible welcoming and helpful, doesn't matter how many jumps someone has. No showing off or any cliques. Open relaxed atomsphere with true skydive spirit at proper facilities. And as the Qatar National Team is training there all year around plenty of opportunity to go up also during weekdays. Will come again for sure! Thank you Lake Wales
Btw: Go to Mani's for great steaks :)

This place is awesome! A friend and myself both had the pleasure of jumping tandem with Pip, who was phenomenal. He eased the fears and provided a sense of comedy and passion for the sport that you don't see every day. The process was fairly quick, and everyone was extremely nice and made small talk to pass the time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a tandem, as well as those looking to make a number of fun jumps. There are frequent Groupon deals, which makes it a great value for the size of the aircraft you jump from!

I' have been there only one day, I' made 3 jumps.
You can feel the friendly and relaxing atmosphere as soon to walk in, from the manifest, manager and jumpers.

Once I' was on plane, climbing at altitude I' realized why the call it Lake Wales: there are a lot of water pond everywhere.

The landing area is good, the packer they working very good.

The only downside is the fact there's no food and beverage facilities on place.

I have been jumping at this dz for the past 5 years. It changed ownership in 2009 to a not so fun jumper friendly dzo. In 2011 that changed and Lake Wales is back! There is a great vibe on the dz for everyone. If you are coming to Florida for a winter break this is a great place to visit. There is a bunkhouse on the property if you need a place to stay and a campground if you travel with your home. The dz is adding new amenities as it grows so call if your questions are specific.

Very accommodating dropzone for fun jumpers... Can't beat $21 to 14,000 anywhere in the area IF you remember to bring cash with you! I've even witnessed them add a few minutes to the call for people packing to get on loads.. The say they'll fly anytime a group wants to come out with a minimum of 8 jumpers on the Twin Otter (they have 2 of them). Didn't see many tandem students when I was there... the priority is clearly us.

I've been out to Lake Wales a few times, and I've always had a good time. They bring out helicopters, etc. for boogies. The people are really friendly and nice, and always up for fun.

I never went prior to the new management, but a buddy of mine from highschool who lives in Orlando and I decided to meet up at LW and give it a go to see how it was run now. Loads were fast to get on, staff very friendly, and people were there organizing. Plenty of outs if needed, and the view in the sky was great. Other than maybe wanting to buy food on the premises, not sure what else one would really want.

I have never been to the Lake Wales location. I heard the old management had a bad reputation... something about Tandem issues. Anyway, I was fortunate enough to be on the first load of the Grand Re-Opening today. Bill, the owner, was very approachable as well as his staff. As a new jumper I like to watch jumpers and staff pack canopies to learn different techniques. Neither had an issue with me "Looking over their shoulder" and in fact, stopped for a moment to show me important points which I appreciated. Good luck to Bill and his staff. A new DZ in Central Florida and new faces that make this social sport so important and special to me.

Do not go here! My family (6 of us) made reservations for our first ever jumps 2 months in advance. we told to show up before 9am. we showed up at 8:30 am filled out our waivers and waited. There was one other group that got there right after us and filled out their waivers just ahead of us. We ended up waiting 6 hours to go up!! We constantly asked them what was happening and were continually told that one jump expert called out sick and we'd be on the next plane up. Group after group showed up after us and went up ahead of us. Some appeared to be friends of someone that worked there. Some seemed to be a little more pushy than us. 3 groups showed up for the 2 pm reservation and went up ahead of us. After finally went up at 3pm we asked them to explain themselves. They told us we were sent up in the order that we arrived. We pointed out we had arrived first. They corrected themselves and said they did in the order the waivers were handed in. We handed in our waivers a close second. Way ahead of anyone else including those that didn't show up till 2pm obviously!! We stopped questioning as we obviously just being fed lines of BS. As they saw we were unhappy, they told us that they emailed us and told us it might take 5 hours. We never got an email of any kind from them. And it took 6 hours! We wasted and entire day on this. We should have gone somewhere else where we could have had a great and pleasant experience. Instead of this place that doesn't care about their customers once they've collected their money. DO NOT GO HERE!! find another spot. there are plenty in florida.

There are some people there that are great, such as the jumpmasters and the packers. The new owners from the past year just attempt to be nice, but fail miserably at it. Do not jump here, as the people who do run the facilities are unkind

This company, and especially Patty, needs to learn about RESERVATIONS. When you call on the phone it sounds like YOUR appointment is for 10 AM. When you arrive everyone scheduled that day was also told 10 AM. We arrived first, but another group signed their paperwork without reading it so they got called first. Another group that filled out paper work AFTER our group went ahead of our group. Then weather, high winds, cancelled the rest of the day. We were told to come back at 7:30 the next day (after I told an instructor that I would just cancel my credit card if we were not able to go this weekend). We were the only ones to go Sunday morning. We waited over 4 HOURS for the videos to be handed out. Funny thing, I was the main one complaining to Patty and my video got "messed up" - it was only a partial with very few pictures. Word of warning - get everything this place tells you in WRITING/REPLY EMAIL - do not rely on verbal promises. In summary - we waited over 10 hours, spread across two days for a 30 minute (FANTASTIC) experience. BTW the safety concerns demonstrated by the staff seemed to be A PLUS. Signed - Ted from Florida.

We were so disappointed. Lake Wales used to be a top notch skydiving center, but the focus is solely on tandems now.

I do not suggest this to be a good place to jump. I do not think this place will be open much longer. The new owners have told most of the fun jumpers to go jump somewhere. They only focus on tandems, and they do not have many of those. They close the doors when they are finished with the tandems, and that usually only take two loads, so they are finished before 11 am or earlier. So if you are planning on trying out this place, don't waste your time.

New ownership has failed its customers with unprofessional language and attitude. The rest of the staff that is there from the old management is great, I'm sorry they have to work under the new conditions. They will bump you for tandems and with minimal loads per day you might not fly. I've also heard bad things about the main site Titusville, Florida and will not go there either. We don't need DZ's that are not fun, I come to jump, not to deal with other peoples bad days.

Happy flying.....

My wife and I live in NY. Our first experience in the skydiving world was this past summer (2008). We both went tandom and enjoyed it very much. One jump and we got hooked. After much research we planned a trip to Florida Skydiving Center to go through AFF and earn our Class A licenses. It was the best decision we ever made. I am a bit anal and was very apprehensive about shelling out a big chunk of change to someone that I only knew via a website. But there was not one minute of our ten day trip that was anything less than spectacular. For starters, the dz is easy to get to from either the Tampa or Orlando airports. Everyone (students, fun jumpers, coaches, instructors, S&TAs, manifest desk, riggers, packers and pilots) EVERYONE was extremely friendly and went out of their way to welcome us to their dz, skydiving and to be a part of their family. The equipment is very up to date and the facility is brand new! The packing area has a cushy soft rug that your knees will be thankful for. Large screen tv's with a vast skydiving dvd collection or digital cable will keep you busy when waiting for winds to calm or clouds to clear.

Now for the AFF course. Safety is the main priority from the minute you walk in the door to your graduation jump. The instructors are more patient than teacher or professor I ever met and make sure you know and understand the flow of the dive and all maneuvers before your feet leave the ground. They want to introduce you to skydiving and make you a safe, smart and capable skydiver so you enjoy the sport for years to come. Its not about the money with these guys, its a passion for the sport.

We can't recommend FSC enough. If you're going tandem, AFF or fun jumps you've got to go to Lake Wales for the best jump of your life. Also, for you experienced folks looking for coach or instructor ratings Xcelskydiving offers courses there.

I received very professional service from the moment i arrived until the sad day i had to leave. I was made to feel welcome throughout my visit. never had a bad day there an have not got any bad things to say about the dz. if you are in the Florida area make sure you stop at Lake Wales for a few jumps! I'll be trying to get back there asap

I did my AFF at Lake Wales and had a really great time. Everyone was super friendly and managed to get it all done in 2 days. Word of warning, I was expecting Floridas weather to be great and it was the whole time I was there, but I heard stories of people being grounded for up to a week unexpectedly. Guess it might have been the time of year. Otherwise I highly recommend it.

I was on vacation last week and had a chance to visit couple of different dropzones.
Visit to Lake Wales was one of the best experiences.

Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Always ready to help you and answer any questions. Packers so incredibly fast and accurate and I never had any issues getting on the 15 minute call. They always care about every single skydiver and check to make sure every one back from skydive. They will pick you up from a landing location promptly after your lending.

If you looking for some good quality souvenirs or need some gear than there is a very good gear shop just around the corner. As well as some very clean restrooms, showers, and good food place.

Big camp ground for RV’s and tents.

I was very pleased to be able to fined many different people from all around the world visiting that place, not to mention to plenty of people to jump with.

Next time I am in Florida, I will be there again.

I did my AFF here over the summer and now I’m back again for more fun jumping!
I’ve been up over 60 times in 3 weeks, so there are always loads going up.

The staff and regulars are fantastic! Its just one large family here and everyone is welcome!

2 Otters and a Cassa, super staff and plenty of beer – what more can you ask for???

I started sky diving with a tandem about 2 months ago and loved it so much that I had to go back and do aff, I chose this drop zone due to location I work in orlando at the theme parks and it was the closest to my home, the drop zone is mainly just sky divers with mainly otters operating currently, Betty is great at manifest! I"ve been doing aff with Tommy and Liz who are amazing and liz is great with her camera work, and I did my tandem with boothy, I hope I spelled his name right but hes from aulstria and all of them are great! some times they are slow and getting a fun jump in is tough but there are plenty of blue skies there!

I visited to see what the location for this years Collegiates was like. Manifest wasn't open when it should have been, tandem students left without jumping. There was disorganization, staff arguing (loudly) amongst themselves, planes sitting on the ground with props spinning for 20 mins, manifest tried to overload the King Air and couldn't work out how to fix it. No one knows whats going on and they don't care about the Collegiates.

It's a shame because I had heard good things about the Florida Skydiviing Center.
My advice, stay away until it's rebuilt.

I have made two tandem jumps here and both times everyone was friendly and helpful. No ego's, no attitudes, just good friendly vibes. I will be going back here for my AFF course and highly recommend FSC. Unfortunately the hurricanes did a number on their facilities but they still have everything you want and need and are working to rebuild better than before. It is kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but skydiving is the only thing going on at that airport both times I was there. You also get a little better scenery than some of the other local DZs. Well worth the drive, and very affordable, even give a student discount! Go there, you won't be disappointed.
