The operation is well-loved. The people are super friendly. The owner is crotchety, but nice. So as long as you've got a good sense of humor you're going to enjoy his company. As they describe on their website, they're a club as opposed to a commercial operation so things are a lot more laid back. You can sleep in their hanger and they've got a couple friendly dogs. Plus they feed you dinner. I did a static line jump from them and the class I took lasted around 4 hours. Most of which were spent drilling cutaway procedures and different failure modes. Despite how the place looks at first glance, the class and members make sure everything is done safely. After all, it's in their best interest to get you on the ground alive. I'm planning on going back to finish the rest of my jumps for my A cert.

This was my third skydiving experience but my first non-tandem. Solo! I was a little nervous, to put it lightly. However, the safety class was beyond thorough and eased all my fears. The emergency procedures, should I have needed them, became second nature we drilled them so much. Thats exactly what you want up in the sky. The staff are the best kind of people. They're clearly as experienced as you can get, but they're not uppity or think they're better than you. They're super friendly and welcoming, they make you feel at home. We slept in the hangar and were offered a lovely dinner, blankets and pillows, and use of the bathroom which had full flush toilet, sink, and shower. The jump itself was fantastic, went off without a hitch, and through our groupon we got video of ourselves jumping out of the plane. Our instructor reviewed it with us after to see our strengths and how we could improve for next time, which is great info. We had to leave early to get to an appointment but I wish we could've stayed to watch our whole safety class jump, I feel like there was a bond created with everyone! I would definitely come back here again. Best prices around, best service! Laid back yet professional attitudes. As soon as I have time, I'm coming back for another jump!

Very unprofessional staff! They did not honor our 9 am jump which the manager, Ryan, PERSONALLY set up for us 2 weeks before. When we got down there, the plane was covered in ice and snow and nobody was in sight. We walked into the office, which is a small hangar, and we saw people sleeping on the floor. When we found some staff members they looked at us with confusion and stumbled to find our reservation. After a half an hour of waiting around, they finally found us and told us that we were on the 1 pm flight. No we weren't! Again the manager personally set this 9 am flight for us. Did we get a call explaining why they are changing us to a later flight. NO! We had to drive down from Denver and had other obligations to be back in DENVER by 1. We aren't going to sit around because THEY messed up and weren't going to honor OUR reservation!!! The guy we were talking to, Kevin, said they don't normally do 9 am flights, which is a bunch of crap because our first scheduled jump 2 weeks prior was for 1030, and when we showed up down there at 9:30 they had 2 jumpers coming down and 2 more ready to go! They said it takes about an hour and a half to go through the training course and to jump, so yeah...they were there by 8:00-8:30....Weird. Even on their website you can book an 8:30 flight. So after this mishap they said they would contact us to reschedule. Here we are, now over a week later and no call or email from this place, we finally called them to see what was going on. They said there is nothing that they could do and they would "try" to refund our promotion we had. After trying to figure out why, the manager hung up on us for no apparent reason and is now refusing to answer or call us back. Not because I am angry and ranting here but trust me, don't come to this place...

I did my first jump last weekend at this place Derek and Charlie made me feel comfortable with all the training and emergency stuff. On Saturday after my jump which was awesome!!!!! There was an altercation between two instructors this one bigger guy hit the the other one. I don't know why he did it but I don't think I feel safe jumping here any more if that guy who is throwing his fists around is going to be there.

The training was very thorough and the staff certainly helped me feel comfortable throughout the process. I am not one to write reviews, but was so pleased with the service that I felt compelled to. I have already recommended them and will continue to do so.

I was visiting Colorado to see my ladies family and figured why not make a jump while out in Colorado. I looked up all the different places to jump and so forth. I only called this place and the lady that answered was awful! She sounded like she was smacking on some gum, which I personally can't stand, I asked about the lift ticket $20 to 11,000 feet, which I thought was AGL and she laughed at me and with an attitude told me no and I don't know where you get that from and told me they only go to 9,000 ft. I asked her was that AGL and she had no clue what AGL was! So then she proceeded to ask me how many jumps I have and I told her 500+ and then she asked me if I had my own gear, well duh, I do. I was just appalled with the treatment I got on the phone with these YAHOO's and just figured it was safest to NOT spend any money at this place. I see why they aren't USPA certified! And they say they like military members? I don't see how they would have even known I was active military because they were so rude we didn't even get that far to discuss it! And by their website, I can see a bunch unsafe dirty people working here that say they are a dropzone! I hope FAA will come down on them, oh wait, didn't someone tandem student die here April 1, 2012?

Very kind staff will welcome you no matter your experience level. They are safe with students and have a good way of not overloading newbies with too much info too fast. I have seen other DZ's that claim to be safe pushing unsafe students too fast too soon. This DZ wont let you continue if they don't see you comprehending and performing what they are teaching. For my recur-ency they had me sit in on a 3.5hr FJC class. Had me answer questions and used me as a dummy for emergency procedures teaching students about malfunctions. They made me and all the students feel informed and safe to jump the following day.

The Hangar is homely and kept tidy, there are dogs but they are behaved and clean. They do let people camp on site or crash on one of the many soft spots around the hangar. The hot tub is a great finish to a long day as well as hanging out with the down to earth staffers. Because there is a Keg-O-Rator on site the staff do watch to make sure no ones drinking that is jumping and it is strictly forbidden to drink before jumping with no exceptions. They prepare food for all in attendance and Darlene is kindly responsible for cooking three square meals a day and encouraging all to eat without asking for you to pay anything. There is a donation box to assist the club in continuing there kindness of preparing food and affording beer for after jumping as well as rubber bands for d-bags and the like.

It is true that this DZ is not USPA approved but with that in mind there safety record and history should speak for itself. Big DZ's in the region have had many accidents and fatalities but they continue to push the point of "only safe jumping can be had at USPA DZ's". Truth be told skydiving is dangerous and as such you should not participate unless you are aware of these risks. Any DZ can be made dangerous if you as an individual do not take this sport seriously and instead exercise complacency. If you exercise a safe attitude and self educate threw USPA's SIM to offset your instructor's teachings you are giving yourself the best chance of becoming a safety minded jumper with an understanding that you will always be a learning student no matter your experience level or acquired USPA license.

My first time was static line. I had a great time till there was a problem I couldn't fix. I smacked the earth at about 40 mph and shattered my left femur (upper leg). Pain is a constant companion now. Just a warning!

I had a great time at High Sky Adventures.
Everyone was very nice. They answered all my questions right away. We came Friday night. After an informative class, we called it a night. We woke up the next morning to the smell of french toast. Thank you Darlene, it was very good. Before I knew it we were suiting up. I got checked, checked, and checked again. I felt very safe with my equipment. After my jump, which was out of this world, I got a helpful critique from my jm and Tammy. Thank you all so much. I'm counting the days til I'm back.

I just started this past weekend, I went down Friday night for the four hour static line class slept over and woke to a great breakfast. We were in the plane by 8am I did my first jump most other people in my class after the first jump headed home but I was able to stay and do one my jump. I will be heading back down this weekend to jump more. The whole crew is awesome. Skip and Darlene the owners are awesome and are willing to answer any questions you may have. Tammy, Mike, Bill, Brian, and Paco couldn't have been more helpful and informative they were all extremely passionate and knowledgeable about this amazing sport. ABOVE ALL THEIR MAIN FOCUS IS SAFETY!!! If they don't think your ready your not jumping.

I went to High Sky Adventures on March 29th 2008 first my first static line jump. From the beginning of the class to the end of the jump the Staff made you feel like you were family. Skip and Darlene (owners) Will go out of their way to help and answer any questions or concerns that you might have.

The Staff are beyond professional. Every question that I asked was answered, and they are always checking your equipment. Every staff member is willing to work with you for how ever long you need until you feel comfortable.

I have recommended High Sky Adventures to numerous friends and everyone that has gone could not get over how fun and friendly the atmosphere is.

Thank you High Sky Adventures for making the sport of Skydiving so fun and memorable!!! I can't wait to get back from this sand box and start jumping again!!!!!

This place will blow your mind! I stopped in to check it out and the first thing that struck me (besides the smell of doggy mess) was the fact that the beer fridge was open and flowing – IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUMP DAY!? The people hanging around seemed proud that they jumped drunk?? I knew then that I wasn’t going to make a jump at this place but I figured that I’d hang out for the fun of it… Stepping around the animals and trash I came upon the “class room” and was amazed to find that none of the so called instructors have USPA ratings! Don’t take my word for it. Have a USPA GM DZ run their names and see for your self. Oh yea! I got a great picture of their plane which has the little “piss on it guy” going on a USPA sticker! How cool are these guys?

Is this the part where I write what an amazing experience skydiving is? or that jumping on a static line kicks the pants off of tandem?

the plane an building might be a bit old, but keeping them keeps the overhead down, and keeps the prices down. It's only 130 for the first jump!

Just had my first jump yesterday and I'm HOOKED thanks to Skip and his crew. Skip keeps a really tight ship, with a great atmosphere but a big emphasis on safety while having fun. Everyone made me feel welcome immediately and it was very easy to learn in such a good atmosphere. The instructors and jumpmasters are great and no one goes without Skip's approval. The price was very reasonable and being able to make my first jump on a static line instead of tandem made it even more fun and exciting. I feel like I learned a lot and I'm officially in love with the sport. All in all, the best first time experience I could possibly have hoped for. I'll be back for sure!!

My adventures at High Sky Adventures started in July 2007. I had always wanted to skydive and get a license and I had finally found the time and the money. All I needed to do was find the right place. I drove to High Sky and met Skip, the owner. He has been operating the dropzone for nearly 20 years and has never had a fatality! He specializes in the static line progression course, which at the end of, you are eligible for a USPA A License. This course is half the price off AFF.

I completed the course within a few weekends and Skip, a USPA Instructor/Examiner/Master Rigger signed off my Proficiency card on the spot. I have been coming back every weekend since.

The dropzone is a club, offering the cheapest rates in the state. The staff is all very professional and knowledgible. It is a great place for the whole family to hang out during the day, and the experienced jumpers are always helping to give free advice and lessons.

Recently we put a new engine on the Cesna 205, pushing the climb rate to nearly 1000 ft. a minute with a full load!

This is an outstanding place to come and do a first jump, or complete the course and recieve your A License! Come on out!

I first went there in the summer on a birthday weekend with a group of 8 or so people. When we got there friday night,Skip and Darlene (The Owners) had a bonfire going,as the other jump students had already taken the class. We went through the class about 2 hours class and 1 hour practical. Then Darlene had made us hotdogs, brats and hamburgers with the fixins, and we hung out at the bonfire They have facilities there for people to spend the night, bed and all.Talk about a great night!Saturday we got up early and made our first jump after what seemed like 5 checks of our gear.Doing a static line course is the way to go. I decided to get my license there and have been jumping around since. The teach amazing canopy control,in fact when I was jumping in Hawaii the staff there gave me a hard time about not making hook turns for landing, the funny thing is in Hawaii I was the only one who landed in the pit. The folks down there are like a big extended family, Skip and Darlene would do anything to help you out (In fact I was stuck out of town and they came and gave me a ride) Kirk is really helpful in giving advice and helping you relax,Jeff gets you laughing. All the upjumpers are willing to give you support and advice as well as helping you with your packing. Also there is an SR rigger at the dropzone

My 1st jump! WOW!

Ok 1st off it's not up to you if you can jump!! Thats right if Skip says NO then ya not jumping.

And 2nd I was rigged up and then CK'ed 5 times at least!

3rd they made me, family, and friends feel at home and with family.
Safety, Safety, Safety
It's all they really care about they dont care if they have to send you home b-cuz you been drinking or smoking "you know what" and they also dont care about hurting your feelings if they think your not ready to jump. They will tell you over

I made my second tandom and first Static Line jump at High Sky Adventures on 08/21/2005.
I showed up with 3 friends. 2 of us did 2 jumps and 2 did only tandems.
1ST off the safety is of #1 importance here!!! With skips class he REALLY informs you of what you have to know in detail. Yes, you have a test at the end and you better have been listening. This guy even has flashcards so you better be ready. Don't think it stops at the end of the class. Everyone checks and rechecks everything. Then it all gets checked again. No joke. You can set your mind at ease and be asured you're jumping with friends.
The staff and other skydivers are so friendly. By the end of the day (OH YEAH, I SPENT ALL DAY) you know everyones name and feel like you've been jumpping with everyone for years. You feel like part of the family. You get a chance to talk shop and bump elbows with some REAL PROS. To my GREAT surprize alot of them are females too! Ladies, feel no pressure here as you will have plenty of company. Everyone is so helpful and they keep you informeed at all times. The King Air is fast and gets you up to elevation in no time. The static line jump was from the Cessna 206 Turbo that made it so easy on me. The pilots are GREAT and get you right over the DZ. I jumped tandem with a licensed jumper who was REALLY informative. Steve N. showed me the plane goodbye then pointed out the MOUNTIAN VIEWS like no other. He even let me steer and help with the landing glide path to help me with my upcoming static line jump. Then he finished the landing and put us right in the nice soft pea gravel for a PERFECT LANDING! Oh Yeah, GET THE VIDEO! Randy and the other camera crew are so good. They give killer video and really show attention to all the details. Randy was also my radio man for my static line jump. He talked me through all the steps and made sure I stayed right on track. He glided me in and told me when to stall so the landing was VERY smooth. I just can't say enough GREAT THINGS about the staff and people at High Sky Adventures. I'll be back and I will be telling evryone I can about this wonderful DZ!

I made my 1st jump 06-23-02 at HSA. I made 5 jumps in 2 weeks then went back to Florida. I didn't jump again till I moved to Colorado. I started spending every weekend at the DZ. Next thing I knew I was on the staff. Then jump-mastering and jumping every weekend! I've been to many DZ's but wouldn't send a 1st jump student anywhere else. Safety is of course most important, but enjoying the whole experience (not just the jump) is a definite priority. That makes a huge difference for the student, and makes the DZ stand out above most. It's been awesome to be a part of the program. Can't wait for season to start!

I will definately go back to High Sky Adventures and recommend it to everyone. It is in a great location which is easy to access. The staff are all wonderful people, they're really down to earth and know their stuff when it comes to sky diving. It was an amazing jump at High Sky Adventures. There are mountains all around you, the sky is clear blue; it's quite a majestic scenery. Not to mention just jumping alone for the first time was an unbelievable experience. This is a drop zone definately worth going to, and back again!

Made my first Static line jump with my youngest son and it was great! Listen, If the military trains jumping this way which they do, they have years of experience on their side and it's all right by me. You get to jump alone on the first jump, not tied up to another man making the decisions for you.
I was taught plenty of training to make the right decisions and should an emergency come up, which it did not I was prepared. I can't wait to do it again!

I did my first jump at High Sky Adventures and had a great time. I have jumped 6 more times since then. If you have never jumped before I recomend this place to anyone that wants to start jumping. I liked it because I got to jump by myself, not with another person (tandem).
